Chapter 153: Cafeteria Trouble [Part 2]

"I thought that you were already eliminated, brother," a young man with short red hair, green eyes, and gold-rimmed glasses said. The haughtiness in his voice was difficult to ignore. "How did you manage to pass the second trial?"

A glance was enough to tell Alex’s group that this person was one of those insufferable perfectionists who always wanted everything to be prim and proper.

"H-Hahaha... Hello, brother," Chuck replied. "What are you doing here?"

"What else?" the arrogant student, who went by the name of Caspian, sneered. "I want to see if the disgrace of our family is here."

"You’ve seen me now, brother," Chuck said. "You don’t have to worry because I have successfully passed the academy’s tri—"

In one smooth motion, Caspian grabbed the glass of fruit juice on the table and poured it over Chuck’s head. His entourage snickered.

"Oh, sorry, what were you saying?" Caspian asked. "I didn’t hear you properly."

"..." Chuck lowered his head and clenched his fists that were hidden under the table.

Seeing this scene, Alex couldn’t help but frown. He didn’t know that Chuck’s relationship with his brother was bad.

Clearly, Caspian had come to humiliate his brother in front of everyone in the Ironheart Dormitory so he could never raise his head in the academy again.

"What’s wrong?" Caspian goaded. "Aren’t you going to say something? Or... have you forgotten your place, huh?"

Just as Alex was planning to intervene, someone else did it in his place.

"Dim Dim!" Dim Dim shouted and glared at Caspian for bullying their new friend.

Caspian frowned after seeing the little creature, but his frown didn’t last long and was quickly replaced by a sneer.

"Looks like you found a little friend," Caspian said as he flicked his finger at the Dim Sum God, sending an invisible Air Bullet in its direction.

But Dim Dim casually jumped to the side, evading the attack, which created a resounding thud as it hit the table.

In retaliation, Dim Dim took out a brittle vial. It didn’t hesitate to throw the vial at the bastard who had come here to mess with their meal.

Caspian’s sneer grew uglier as he created a wind barrier to block the brittle vial and send it back to Dim Dim.

The Dim Sum God caught the brittle vial and lunged at the teenage boy to headbutt him.

However, Alex grabbed his friend mid-air and pulled it back.

"Do you know," Alex asked coldly as he turned towards Caspian, "that you can get punished for attacking your fellow students in the academy?"

"But I didn’t attack any students," Caspian replied calmly. "This... trash... is my brother. This is a family issue, so I’d appreciate it if you don’t interfere."

Although Caspian was a noble, he knew better than to mess with the scholarship students in public.

However, since Chuck was his brother, he believed he could get away by saying this was a family matter that outsiders shouldn’t get involved in.

"Family issue or not, you have attacked a student before the rest of us," Alex stated. "Now scram before I report you to the Academy’s Office for disorderly conduct and destruction of private property."

When Caspian and his friends did not move, Alex continued, "Not only did you mess with our lunch break, you also damaged our table. How are you going to compensate for that?"

"What are you talking about?" Caspian frowned. "I didn’t damage your table."

Although he had shot an Air Bullet, he had made sure that the force wouldn’t be strong enough to destroy anything. He deliberately made it just strong enough to give Dim Dim a light injury and make it cry or yelp.

But when he looked at the table, he saw that it indeed had a few cracks in it. His frown deepened.

He didn’t know that while he had been occupied with Dim Dim, Alex had summoned a small hand shield and pressed it under the table.

The young man had then used the skill, Shield Bash, to create a little bit of damage without anyone noticing.

"Dorm Head, what is the punishment for the destruction of the academy’s property?" Alex asked Nessia.

"Destruction of the academy’s property is punishable by a fine, as well as demerit points," Nessia answered as she fixed her glasses with her middle finger. "This is a serious offense, so if the Academy Office gets wind of this, it will cause trouble."

"Oh dear, what should I do?" Alex sighed deeply. "Do you know? Dim Dim is good friends with the Headmaster. If he heard you tried to attack it with an Air Bullet, you might get expelled, you know?"

"Hahaha! What a joke!" Caspian laughed. "How can that little thing be a friend of the Headmaster? Do you think I am gullible enough to believe that?"

Suddenly, Caspian felt that the cafeteria had somehow gotten extremely silent.

Everyone was looking at something behind him. Despite the sinking feeling in his stomach, he turned his head to see what everyone else was looking at.

There, he saw the Headmaster of the Academy, Professor Rowan, looking down at him with a displeased expression.

"H-Headmaster!" Caspian almost jumped out in fright after seeing the person whom no one in the academy dared to offend.

"Mr. Rizz, what is the meaning of this?" Rowan asked.

"I-I..." Caspian, who had thought that he could bully his brother without repercussions, now bore a remarkable resemblance to a fish out of water. His mouth opened and closed repeatedly as if he were gasping for breath.

Just as everyone thought that he was about to get punished, a chuckle reached everyone’s ears.

"Headmaster, it’s a pleasure to meet you." Chuck stood up and bowed respectfully as if his hair and clothes were not soaked with fruit juice.

"My brother and I were just goofing around like usual. This isn’t a big deal. Also, this table, I was the one who broke it by accident. If there is someone who needs to be punished, please punish me instead."

Rowan gave the teenage boy a long and hard look before nodding in understanding.

"Very well, turn yourself in at the Academy Office and pay the fine for the table," Rowan said. "Also, you will have a credit of 100 Academy Points. You will need to pay it first before you can start earning them."

"Yes, Headmaster!" Chuck replied.

But just as he was about to leave, Dim Dim spoke up once more.

"Dim Dim!" Dim Dim looked up at the Headmaster while holding a sigil in its hand.

"You want to exchange the sigil to pay for the damages?" Rowan asked with a smile.

"Dim!" Dim Dim nodded.

"Deal." Rowan nodded as he took the sigil from Dim Dim’s hand. He then lightly tapped on the table, repairing it completely. "It is understandable that kids can be unruly from time to time. Since classes have still not started, I’ll turn a blind eye to this incident just once.

"Mr. Rizz, I expect you to be more diligent in the future, okay? Otherwise, that golden lion of yours might just disappear... if you catch my drift."

The Headmaster chuckled and left. The atmosphere inside the cafeteria soon eased up.

Truth be told, Rowan had been planning to try his luck with Dim Dim and get all four Sigils back.

It just so happened that the incident had occurred at that time. But he hadn’t made any move to interfere right away.

He had wanted to see how Alex’s group would handle the matter. He had to admit that the young man had a cunning side to him as well.

Rowan had seen Alex damage the table and pin the blame on Caspian as payback for humiliating Chuck.

He felt that he was above meddling in the quarrels of children, but since he was already there anyway, he decided to step up and prevent the incident from spiraling out of control.

Although he didn’t manage to get all four of his sigils back, having one of them wasn’t a bad deal either.

’I think that young man, Alex, is perfect for that class,’ Rowan mused. ’This year is going to be an interesting year for the incoming students. There are so many prodigies gathered in one generation.’

He was already looking forward to the start of classes, which would be in three days’ time.

The Headmaster of Frieden Academy had a feeling that this school year would be different from the past school years.

"I’ll remember this," Caspian hissed as he glared at Dim Dim and Alex before leaving with his entourage.

"Bleh!" Dim Dim stuck its tongue out at the annoying prick, while Alex gave him the middle finger.

Chuck looked at his two new friends with gratitude and felt something warm spreading inside his chest.

No one had stood up for him before, and he usually just endured the one-sided beatings and insults from his brothers.

But now, he felt that going to the academy was a really good choice on his part.

Maybe, just maybe, he would find the happiness that he was looking for in the academy, which could be found nowhere within the walls of the Rizz Family.
