Chapter 465: Chapter 447: Summoning Players
"[Ding—]"
"[Hidden Quest: ’Heart of Life’ Summons Unlocked]"
"[Within the scene, players could consume magic power to summon friends. Every 500 magic points summoned a friend level 31 or above (inclusive of 31)]"
"[Summoning Reward: For each friend personally summoned, the player received 1% of the friend’s experience in the scene until the player’s death]"
"[Official summons to commence after the first batch of quest players enters the battle scene—]"
"[First batch of quest player IDs: Boxed Lunch, Hu Lu, Chopin, Optimist, I Am Invincible]"
...
Accompanied by a soft system sound, the new quest information resurfaced in all players’ vision across the servers.
The players, whose attention was initially drawn by the dragon’s appearance, refocused on Boxed Lunch and his group:
"Wow! Is this quest finally doable?"
"Friend summoning? 1% reward on friend’s experience? Wouldn’t that mean earning experience while lying down if you kept summoning?!"
"Wake up, summoning once needs 500 magic points. How much magic do you have as a warrior?"
"Uh... only 500 in total..."
"Hahaha, I’m a mage. My magic is almost 8000 points, hahaha!"
"Do you have big-shot friends?"
"...Darn it! I don’t have any top player’s friends!"
"Hehe, I’m friends with Chopin! Secure in the dungeon run!"
"Jealous! Take me with you!"
"..."
The players fell into excitement and enthusiasm.
After all, the Heart of Life quest not only promised 50,000 experience points, 3000 contribution points, and 50 resurrection coins as a high reward, but there also seemed to be monsters to kill.
This could well compare to the main storyline.
Soon after, Boxed Lunch and his group’s friend requests on the friend channel all turned into "99+," without exception.
Especially for mage Hu Lu and druid Chopin, both magic class players.
Looking at his constantly flashing friend requests and the private chat channel flooded with enthusiastic messages, Hu Lu sighed towards the sky:
"I never thought I’d be so popular one day. Brings tears to my eyes."
Meanwhile, Optimist was browsing his live-streaming backend, eyes wide with excitement:
"Oh my God, already over twenty thousand people are watching my stream. Isn’t this equal to top streamers?!"
"Don’t get too excited. They’re here to see us summon, believe it or not. The numbers will plunge once we start," Hu Lu quipped from the side.
Optimist listened and wore an exasperated look:
"I know... can’t I dream of being a top streamer for a little longer?"
The players chatted intermittently, and their operation went smoothly.
With Divine Favored Zero’s coordinates and Chopin’s [Heart of Nature] magic, they quickly found the path to the underground palace via city sewer rats.
This underground palace lay beneath the Great Temple of Segis City, heavily guarded on the surface.
However, taking the sewer route allowed finding a hidden passage leading straight to the temple.
The sewers of Segis City were far from peaceful.
Over a thousand years, they had developed their ecology, with hideous monsters lurking in the sludge.
These monsters were entirely jet-black, armored in scales, surrounded by a corrupt and evil aura that made several players frown.
"The aura of these monsters feels familiar..."
"Let me identify... Huh? Polluted underground demon fish? Polluted aquatic lizard monsters? Hiss... All the monsters here are corrupted by abyssal powers!"
"Abyssal powers..."
The players’ expressions gradually turned serious.
Yet, amidst the seriousness, a trace of excitement revealed itself.
The seriousness stemmed from knowing this was not a good sign.
Repeated related quests and hunting experiences had shown anything involving the abyss invariably tied to evil gods, making missions notably perilous.
As for the excitement... naturally, because anything linked to evil gods had generous rewards.
"Could it be... that Creator God truly is an evil god?"
They stirred inwardly.
Still, even though they faced many creatures corrupted by abyssal powers in the sewers, the players’ journey wasn’t heavily obstructed.
For no other reason, the magic power level of this dimension was too low, even for the strongest monsters they encountered, with power no more than Silver Lower.
A five-player group beat them handily.
As for most monsters, even those who sensed them avoided their paths.
Living beings in this dimension had their life potential drained, with ordinary creatures having no chance of growing beyond silver.
The sighting of a Silver Lower creature there was already incredible.
Regarding the players’ strength, they truly were near invincible.
Turning off their sense of smell, the five crawled along the sewer, occasionally swimming through sludge and sewage, and finally reached their destination after several hours.
Poking their heads out from the murky water, a grand palace appeared within their view.
This palace was magnificent, formed of giant stone pillars, with the cave ceiling above inset with countless luminous stones twinkling in the darkness like a starry sky.
This scene gave the players a sense of familiar but indescribable.
"Hey? Isn’t this the scene of the temple where the Goddess first appeared that Dema and others saw?"
Optimist, endowed with good memory, was slightly stirred.
Others, upon recalling, nodded one by one.
Of course, for players, it only resembled the scene of the Goddess’s first descent. Yet, for Eve, it held a deeper meaning.
This palace should have been crafted modeled after the World Tree’s former palace in the Heavenly Realm.
The players observed the palace while climbing ashore from the sewage.
The sludge clung to them, making it hard to recognize their original appearances, while the emanating odor was overwhelmingly pungent.
Truthfully, if not for the ability to disable the olfactory system and treating the place as a game, they might not have entered the water at all.
But in the game, it’s a different story.
As long as there was profit involved, players were willing to do anything.
No door marked the palace entrance, only two thick stone pillars symbolizing a gate, with two rows of humanoid statues lined on the palace’s sides.
Some of the statues took on elven forms, some half-elves, others simply depicted humans, a number likely counting in the hundreds...
They stood as if guarding the palace.
Some players used [Cleansing Spell] to rid themselves of the filth, then braced themselves and proceeded toward the palace.
Yet, just as they were about to cross through the gateway, an obscure energy wave suddenly flashed across the palace’s stone pillars.
Then all the statues’ eyes lit up abruptly.
In the players’ surprised gazes, the two rows of statues began to emit deep light, stone flakes falling off and revealing the living bodies inside.
Then they moved.
"Blasphemers! How dare you enter the resting place of the Divine!"
Accompanied by a chilling warning, all awakened "statues" brandished weapons and surged toward the players.
Their aura was formidable; even the weakest among them held Black Iron Peak power, while the strongest even reached Silver Upper!
The five players were taken aback when they heard Divine Favored Zero’s crisp voice echo by their ears:
"It’s the guardians! Quickly summon the other Chosen Ones!"
Upon hearing her words, the players’ eyes sparkled.
Was this... the scene? Could they finally summon?
They looked at Hu Lu and Chopin, both nodding as they selected their prepared friend list, pressing the summon option while shouting a chant they had pre-agreed upon:
"Go, Pikachu!"
In an instant, golden light enveloped the two players, both feeling their magic consumed rapidly.
Simultaneously, circular arrays began sketching themselves on the ground around them.
With dazzling lights and intense spatial ripples, several tall figures emerged within the arrays.
And then shouts of excitement followed:
"Hahahaha! Entered the dungeon! Entered the dungeon!"
"What’s with Pikachu? Can’t we play seriously anymore?"
"Whoa! So many monsters!"
"Fight, fight fast!"
