Chapter 463: Chapter 445: Another “Eve” (Bonus Chapter 1)
“Is this Segis City?”
In the Divine Country of the World Tree, Eve sat high on her throne, enjoying the crisp, sweet fruits delivered by the Oak Guardian while squinting at the scene before her.
In front of her was the large sandbox observing the players’ activities, with five pictures materializing above it.
The angles of the images varied, constantly shifting and changing with the activities of their owners, but the content was similar, depicting a bustling city scene.
This was from the perspective of the five players in the Lunch Box Squad.
And the city was naturally the home of the Creation God Sect, the core of the half-plane—Segis City.
This was a city more prosperous than the Fengye Territory Capital of the Holy Mania Empire. Its architectural style resembled that of Feilengcui’s elven structures, grand and imposing yet with an extraordinary artistic beauty.
However, possibly due to limitations in construction materials, this half-plane did not have the white megaliths commonly used for construction in the Elf Forest, instead favoring the more common Grey Stone. Thus, the entire city had a dark gray tone.
Throughout the city, fully armed soldiers and priests in gray priest robes with hoods could be seen everywhere.
They patrolled the streets expressionlessly, and every city resident who saw them would stop, bowing their heads in respect until the soldiers passed before resuming their activities.
The number of residents here was substantial, and Eve estimated that the population of this city might surpass that of Fengye City.
However, despite the large population, Eve noticed that most residents exhibited numb expressions and vacant eyes, lacking the vitality of the villagers outside the city, let alone people like Lily from Divine Grace Town.
*Because of this… Even though the city was bustling, Segis City exuded a oppressing and discordant feeling.*
“Is this… mental control?”
Eve frowned slightly.
Her gaze wandered among the images, shifting toward the city gate.
She saw some residents entering the city through the gate, their lively gaze gradually turning numb. Meanwhile, those leaving the city gate, with empty eyes, quickly regained their normal state, as if the numbing machine-like state faded away.
Seeing all this, Eve raised an eyebrow,
“So it’s like that, then everyone entering the city is invaded by some force into their mental world, influencing their thoughts?”
“However, this influence is limited in scope and not permanent. It seems to only affect this city; it looks more like a way to hide something within the city.”
Just then, her heart suddenly stirred as she felt a familiar energy fluctuation trying to invade her game system network.
More accurately, it was aiming to invade the mental worlds of the Lunch Box Squad.
This fluctuation was very familiar to Eve; it was the same mysterious mental fluctuation she felt when she first tried to probe the half-plane.
Initially, she assumed it was the will of the half-plane, but after learning about the “Creation God,” she realized it was probably some kind of defensive mechanism left by the slumbering Creation God.
Clearly, the force that had invaded the residents had now targeted a few players.
Eve did not directly eradicate this force, as doing so might alert the enemy and expose the five players.
She suddenly stretched out her right hand into the void, gently distorting space to summon a few vines.
At the same time, in the Demon Maze at the root of the World Tree…
A group of players was under attack by a dozen demons, the situation tense and dangerous.
Suddenly, a flash of light zipped through the void, and a vine burst forth from the emptiness.
Under the players’ astonished gaze, the vine ensnared the strongest demon among them, dragging it into the extra-dimensional space accompanied by a piercing wail…
Seeing the strongest demon caught, the dozen minor demons fled in panic, while an enraged roar echoed faintly in the maze:
“Yggdrasil!”
The players were stunned, falling into confusion,
“What the hell?!”
“Seems like… the Goddess’ vine?”
“Could it be the Goddess saw we couldn’t win and came to save us?”
“Wake up, you might as well say you made a pact with a dragon.”
“…”
Similar incidents occurred simultaneously in several places within the Demon Maze.
Soon, Eve captured five Great Demons whose strength nearly reached the Golden Rank from the maze.
Watching the demons trembling with their tails between their legs, Eve shook her head slightly,
“Azazel can’t be underestimated; he easily brought forth such powerful demons while I wasn’t watching. Clearly, he hasn’t given up yet…”
“It’s still not enough to suppress him; he managed to secretly accumulate the power to produce demons of this strength. Hmm… Maybe I’ll refresh his instance every twelve hours from now on.”
Eve muttered to herself as she decided to increase the workload of a particular “working” Demon Lord and redirected the force invading the Lunch Box Squad toward the five Great Demons, allowing them to endure the “spiritual impact” instead of the players.
Then she noticed that the gaze of the five Great Demons instantly turned vacant.
At the same time, they prostrated themselves on the ground, continuously praising nature and life.
Seeing this, Eve raised an eyebrow slightly,
“This spiritual impact even has the effect of brainwashing to strengthen faith, with the so-called Elf Demigod Orros as the ‘Creation God’ directly targeting faith toward nature and life. Should I say she’s ambitious, or has a big heart?”
If Eve had not revived as the World Tree and if the God of Life and Nature had no master, this enhanced faith would indeed aid the Creation God in obtaining these two divine roles.
But now, such prayers could only be directed towards Eve.
Of course, the five Great Demons could not truly convert into real believers; at most, their mental world was temporarily twisted.
The successful invasion of the five demons’ mental worlds also allowed Eve to verify another issue:
*That was that her divine rank should have been higher than this “Creation God’s.”*
*Otherwise, her “substitution” wouldn’t have gone unnoticed by the other party, even if they were in slumber.*
“So, the other side has indeed not achieved Divine Enthronement yet?”
Thinking of this, Eve fell into contemplation once more,
“In that case, those residents’ hints might also target nature and life.”
“Logically, after my revival, this should have been directed toward me, but I have not received any corresponding feedback. Perhaps this ‘Creation God’ used some special method to substitute the directed target…”
“If I’m not mistaken, it should be the ‘Heart of Life,’ probably assuming that the Life Scepter shard is the directed target, used to gather Divine Power and reinforce the laws of life and nature.”
“However, just relying on these, even after millions of years, she wouldn’t become a true God of Life and Nature, right? Or does she have some other secret or backup plan that I’m unaware of?”
*”I have a foreboding feeling that doesn’t sit well with me.”*
Eve pondered, frowning slightly.
In non-violent confrontations among Divines, a True God’s foresight was accurate.
“However, this spiritual impact failing to detect my Divine Soul Power also indicates that this ‘Creation God’s’ power is insufficient…”
“This spiritual impact is probably connected to her internal faith network, allowing her to block other mythological entities through the Plane Channel, but she cannot prevent an internal explosion!”
*”Then, I should try reverse locating…”*
With this thought, Eve’s heart stirred.
The players possessed a Crystal Ball obtained from Elder Rueger.
However, in Eve’s view, the Crystal Ball’s perception was still too vague; if the players wanted to locate the Heart of Life with it, it might take several days in Segis City.
Eve worried that delay could lead to complications.
With this in mind, she immediately acted, utilizing her Divine Soul Power to use the spiritual channel on the five Great Demons as an offensive pathway for a reverse invasion…
She executed the operation carefully, and the process went smoothly.
With the infiltration of Divine Soul Power, Eve soon “saw” a magnificent world of faith.
Countless radiant lights of faith formed a densely packed network, and at the network’s core, a diamond-shaped crystal kept rotating…
*”This… is indeed a shard of the Life Scepter!”*
Eve’s spirit trembled.
Strengthening the power of her Divine Soul, she quickly sensed the exact location of the target.
Her “vision” changed again, traversing the void, “seeing” the entirety of Segis City, “seeing” the tallest cathedral building within, and “seeing” the underground palace buried deep within it. There, she also “saw” a massive crystal coffin…
The shard of the Life Scepter floated above the crystal coffin, enveloped in countless starlights.
*”Found it!”*
Eve’s heart leaped with joy.
After committing the shard’s location to memory, Eve intended to withdraw.
But just before exiting, her “gaze” swept over the crystal coffin below the shard.
However, with just one glance, Eve’s mind shook, and she almost failed to maintain her Divine Soul’s power.
Inside the crystal coffin lay an Elf Girl with closed eyes.
She wore a luxurious white gown, her features exquisite, with long silver hair spread on either side.
She looked almost exactly like Eve.
