Chapter 87: Chapter 88

The Kinston Family’s longing for fate was deeply rooted in their bones and blood, impossible to shake off.

But Kyle didn’t want to be controlled by such longing, didn’t want to, as his father had once said, grovel at fate’s feet one day, humbly begging for its love.

He didn’t want fate to dominate his emotions, his feelings, or even his life! The Kinston Family... struggling to endure throughout the long years, despite their deep foundation and immense power, it all still seems like a cruel joke of destiny, as if their lives and fates are beyond their control.

Fate... he would not end up like his father, who became a madman for the sake of his mother.

His fingers slowly released, and he gradually stepped back, creating distance between them.

When the last trace of their bodily contact broke, pain surged almost instantly, so fierce that it nearly made him stagger.

His hands clasped tightly around his chest, fingers gripping his arms tightly, veins bulging on the back of his hands, desperately trying to suppress the pain in his body.

Mabel’s hand fumbled against the wall, finding the light switch and pressing it. Instantly, soft light flooded the entire room, allowing Mabel to clearly see Kyle Kinston’s current state for the first time.

His state was far more severe than she imagined. His face, frighteningly pale, lips pressed tightly, teeth clenching with a grinding sound. His temples, neck, and the backs of his hands all displayed bulging veins, and his handsome face twisted with an unmistakable expression of pain.

This version of Kyle reminded her of him that night in the underground parking lot, where he had shown a similar expression, though the anguish on his face now seemed to have intensified several times over.

Mabel stepped closer to Kyle’s side, wanting to assess his condition.

But just as her hand was about to touch him, he suddenly barked, "Don’t touch me!"

Her hand froze in midair, as his dark phoenix eyes, now bloodshot, glared with a hint of crimson, "Don’t touch me... Now... Leave here immediately..." he struggled to say. Even this brief sentence seemed to consume all his
