Chapter 281: Chapter 291: Smile
"If..." He only managed to say two words when her phone suddenly rang.
Mabel Quinn used her other hand to take the phone out of her pocket. When she looked at the caller ID, it was unexpectedly Kyle Kinston’s call.
Daniel Harris also glanced at the caller ID.
His fingers unconsciously loosened, and Mabel had already answered the call, "Hmm... okay, I understand. I’m almost done here and was about to head back to the residence."
After she finished the call with Kyle Kinston, she looked at Daniel Harris again, "Mr. Harris, what were you about to say?"
"It seems you’re getting along well with Kyle Kinston." He said blandly, "But he’s not an ordinary man. How long do you think your relationship with him can last?"
After saying this, without waiting for Mabel’s response, Daniel Harris had already left on his own.
Mabel looked inexplicably at his departing figure, wondering if he was trying to dampen her spirits. She knew very well that Kyle was not an ordinary man, but what did that matter? Since she had fallen in love, she wanted to put her best effort into this relationship. No matter what the outcome, she wouldn’t regret it.
When Mabel returned to Kyle’s residence, Kyle was already there. As soon as he saw the obvious swelling on her forehead, his brows furrowed.
Reaching out with his long arm, he pulled her directly to him, "What happened to your forehead?"
"There was some chaos on the filming site today, and I accidentally got hit by something," she said, noticing his expression full of cold anger, she quickly added, "But I’ve already been to the hospital. The doctor said it’s just a minor injury and prescribed some medicine."
As she spoke, she hurriedly took out the prescribed medicines from her bag.
He pursed his lips, "Later, I’ll have a few bodyguards follow you."
She felt overwhelmed, thinking how she could work if that happened, "I’m just a small screenwriter at Morningstar. If I really have two bodyguards following me, others will definitely talk."
"You’re not just a small screenwriter, you’re also my girlfriend, Mabel Quinn. What does it matter what others say?" he said, his slender fingers gently touching the swollen area on her forehead.
She couldn’t help but gasp lightly.
"Does it hurt badly?" His eyebrows furrowed even tighter.
"It’s just that you touched it suddenly, I wasn’t prepared. Actually, it’s not that bad," she reassured him, fearing he’d think her injury was more serious than it was.
He pursed his lips, scrutinizing the instructions on the two tubes of ointment she had brought out, then opened one and began applying it to her.
She obediently sat there, occasionally glancing at his expression, until he finished applying the ointment and washed his hands. Only then did she tug on his sleeve, "I’ll be more careful with my safety. It won’t happen again."
"You’re thinking about letting it happen again." Just seeing that patch of swelling on her forehead made him feel intensely anxious.
Even after experiencing the most severe situations, or seeing more bloody and cruel scenes, he never felt this way.
"No, no!" she quickly shook her head.
After all, she was the injured party, yet it seemed the person getting upset now was him.
Mabel thought for a moment, then kissed Kyle Kinston on the cheek, "Alright, give me a smile."
He glanced at her with his phoenix eyes, clearly not intending to smile.
Undeterred, she kissed his other cheek, "I promise I’ll protect myself better in the future. I’ve been practicing the self-defense techniques you taught me regularly. How about I go to the training room later and show you?"
