Chapter 748 - 748: Tribute Part 3

"Hi," Luna said with a cackle as she sliced the man's throat with her orichalcum claws with such precision he bled out before taking notice of his own demise. "who's next."

The enemy crew that not even five seconds ago were in a frenzy to enter the room and get their spoils were now terrified attempting to go the other way as they didn't expect anyone to be still awake.

"Get back in there, you idiots! She's just a kid!" Captain Roberts commanded.

"But Sir, she killed the first mate is still awake!" One of the crew members rebuked, prompting the Captain to pull a flintlock pistol from his trait and fire a single powerful bullet that went through the man's forehead killing him on the spot.

As cruel and senseless as killing one of his own allies may have seemed, it worked wonders to raise the crew morale and they immediately went back into the dormitory where Luna remained waiting without showing any expression on her face.

"Uhm... one moment," Luna said as she pushed the first mate's corpse under the bed. The rest of the crew let her do as she wanted not only to take the chance to surround her, but also because they hesitated to make the first move against her. "done." She said and lounged forward at an uncanny speed which along with her small size made her seemingly disappear in front of their eyes.

Next thing they knew, two people had lost their heads, though they only noticed when the thumping sound caused when their bodies dropped.

"Don't just fucking stand there like idiots, kill her!" Roberts ordered as he channeled flux energy to recharge the pistol he previously summoned.

The shots being fired from both inside and outside the dormitory along with the screams of agony reminded the Captain that no matter if he survived, he wouldn't be able to get out of the island they landed in without a working ship or a crew. This prompted him to change his strategy and called his men back.

"We surrender!" The captain lied and silence was made for about five seconds, until Luna's youthful figure appeared by the door frame. "Everyone, come back. Let her go."

"I'm sorry, they are... uhm... dead." Luna apologized and the captain's face twitched in anger.

"You killed them all!? That was half the entire fucking crew!" He snarled and Luna limited herself to nod in reply. "How? How come you're still awake? Anyone who falls asleep near this place will remain asleep forever and those who show hostility or aggression towards us, the chosen ones, should also fall asleep!"

"Hostility? Aggression? I have nothing of the sorts against you." Luna earnestly replied.

"But you just killed them!"

"Yes." Luna nodded a bit annoyed at the captain's apparent ignorance of what just happened in front of his eyes and she took it upon herself to explain everything in detail. "I didn't remain asleep because I wasn't asleep. I was just faking it. About why I haven't fallen asleep, that's because anger is not the emotion I am experiencing."

Looking at her deadpan expression, her aloof face and her eyes devoid of any emotion it would have been easy to believe she was a robot incapable of feeling anything, but that couldn't be anything further from the truth.

"Then what... what emotion are you experiencing?" Captain Roberts found himself swallowing a lump of saliva mid sentence as fear overtook him.

Nothing about Luna made sense, the fact that someone so small could be so powerful and moving so fast despite being just of the ascended level, but the biggest mystery was her ability to remain asleep despite breaking the rules of the cryptid with whom the captain had struck a deal as not even heavenly rank hunters were able to withstand its power.

"Arousal," Luna said unblinking causing the captain to became pale. Of all the possible answers he could have imagined, that was definitely the worst case scenario. Or so he thought until Luna continued. "it's just a cultural thing, you see... I am a werewolf."

Before Luna's transformation process even started the captain had already turned on his heels followed by what remained of his crew. Lights flickered as Luna's wolfish form tore through the ship's electrical wiring along with walls, doors and everything that stood in between her and her prey.

Once captain and crew were outside they closed the doors in an attempt to seal the imposing creature inside the alloy exterior of the ship, but Luna tore through the allow with ease as even in her werewolf form she was able to wear her orichalcum claws that allowed her to cut through alloy like it was butter.

They ran away pushing their physical prowess to their limits, but the werewolf moved way faster than its apparent weight should have been able to and she easily caught one after the other killing them in but an instant.

As a heavenly rank hunter, Roberts had the advantage in speed which allowed him to be the last man standing, though that also didn't last for long since Luna caught him with the same ease she did the others.

"Do your worst, beast! You only doomed yourself. Without a crew and a captain, you're now stranded in this island forever... or until it finds you." The captain said with a smirk despite him being on the ground with a beast that escaped all logic on top of him.

Instead of killing him, though, Luna shifted back into her human form revealing the skin tight elastic under armor Medusa crafted for her, her sizeable bosom and the same innocent face she had always stuck in her face.

"You are going to tell me everything about that cryptid and you will die." She said.

"That's not much of an incentive to speak, is it?" Captain Roberts scoffed, ready to die without spilling his secret.

"That was not an incentive, just the facts. This is the incentive." She said in a monotone as she put her hand inside her cleavage to produce the most fearsome weapon she could have ever shown, a scalpel.
