Dungeon Raider System
Chapter 741 - 741: Old friends Part 2

To say the accommodations of the Sparrow were humble would be more than polite as it lacked the most basic furniture or even space. It also had no windows to look outside and the bridge was so small it could only fit three people at the same time before getting crowded. Apart from the Captain's lodging there were only two dormitory rooms.

One for the regular crew and one for the hired security which was larger. Something like that was understandable due to the high turnover of hunters, be it for quitting or dying, but it did little to console Uriel who was already accustomed to a more comfortable lifestyle.

It wasn't just the bunk beds what bothered him, but sharing his room with so many people also played its part on his grumpy mood, though it wasn't like there was any choice. Of course Uriel could have kicked the captain out of his own room and taken it for himself with force.

Doing so would have been just as easy as stealing the ship since the Dungeon Raiders were familiar with the ins and outs of handling a zeppelin and didn't need the captain, or the crew for that matter.

But doing something like that for no reason didn't sit well with Uriel and he was actually grateful the captain ended up agreeing to take them. He even offered a more than fair payment for the trip, which Uriel graciously took despite knowing the offer came from a place of fear that the ship might be taken over at any time.

As soon as the ship set off it became clear that the trip was going to be way slower than Uriel initially anticipated as the ship's engine was nothing compared to the Pegasus'. Had Medusa been there she would have cried at the sight of such a low quality engine that wasn't even up to market standards and she would have likely upgraded it for free out of pity.

"This is... uhm... annoying." Luna said as the buzzing sound of the Defenders chit chat got under her skin.

"And boring. This crap doesn't even have a bar." Nika said as she toyed with her Peacemaker pistol.

"Or windows..." Alice pouted as she hoped to at least get a peek of the scenery on the way to Europe.

Needless to say, the reason why the ship didn't have any windows was a necessary security measure since the ship lacked the orichalcum wiring that could conceal their energy signature. Flying was safer than traveling by sea, but that didn't mean it was safe at all.

There were the swarmers that would break ships open and drop people from the heights if given the chance, nighflyers that would collide with zeppelins and cause them to crash and on top of that, there were also the lightseekers that would be drawn to any source of light at night.

All this meant they could only travel by day and they would need to land for the night. It also meant that hunters needed to be ready for battle at all times which also resulted in them having absolutely nothing to do until they started the landing process near Pensilvania.

"I swear, carrying this ship on our backs would have been faster. Can't we at least get to the east coast?" Uriel complained annoyed by the fact that they would need to wait an extra day by the beach before flying into the ocean, effectively adding an extra day to their travel.

"Sun is already setting and we need you to secure the perimeter before we land." Roberts didn't know the reason why, but he found himself speaking to Uriel in an apologetic tone despite him being the captain of the ship.

"Fine, at least open the landing bay door so we can clear the place before we land." Uriel said and went to the back of the ship to jump off.

"Finally something to do!" Nika too made the jump, followed closely by Bella who took flight. Alice remained by the edge of the ship and knocked an arrow, ready to fire at any and all threats while Luna took the chance that the dormitory was empty to snooze.

Midway towards the ground Uriel bought a parachute from his souvenir shop and landed safely. Nika merged with the shadows before touching ground and Bella was able to fly.

"Should we follow?" Asked Marine to her boss.

"Of course not, we'll wait until the ship lands," Hazel said as she watched how the reckless hunters started tearing through a horde of beast rank cryptids. "when you introduced him to me I agreed to help him because I knew he would become stronger, but he's also grown too reckless."

"He was like that too back then. But it's a good thing, if he wasn't so reckless I would probably still be hiding from my husband in the water treatment plant." Marina shivered at the memory of what happened with the skinwalker.

The Defenders were a group put together by hunters who, for one or other reason, became aware of the presence of cryptids inside the city of Texas before its downfall and had a good standing with Uriel. Their objective was to save as many people from the clutches of evil while acting from the shadows, which explained their use of masks, though Uriel knew their identities.

Their leader was Hazel, a young woman with the trait to manipulate earth; Marina, who was able to breathe under water; Kristina, who after Uriel saved her became a powerful hunter and the best tracker in the continent; and after a while even the two slum dwellers that met Uriel after Medusa kicked him out of their apartment joined the group.

Most of their group was indebted to Uriel, though Hazel wasn't wrong to point out their interests didn't align which made them agree that joining the Dungeon Raiders wasn't even a possibility.

However, they all second guessed Hazel's call when the Sparrow touched ground and they found out not a single cryptid remained standing in the vicinity and there was nothing for them to do.

"They're on another level." Marina muttered to herself.
