Chapter 733 - 733: Prions Part 4

Seeing Uriel's dire situation Luna attempted to jump in to help, but one of the townsmen intercepted her mid way and sent her taking tumbles on the ground because of her increased mass. She jabbed both her orichalcum claws on her enemy who appeared to be a woman and tore her in half causing the poor townswoman to spit a copious amount of blood on top of Luna staining her silvery fur with red.

This seemingly snapped Elara out of her reverie and she returned to her human form, but it had no effect of the enraged mob. Seeing this finally opened her eyes and she realized that even if the entire town was destroyed and all the people killed, as long as she had her two daughters by her side she could still have a family.

"Come inside." Elara said as she attempted to drag Luna out of the battlefield, but due to being in her werewolf form Luna was able to resist.

"Leave, I won't leave him alone." Luna replied in a werewolfish growl far more expressive than her usual voice.

"I'm your mother, you do as I say!" Elara shouted prompting Luna to look her in the eye.

"You can't be a mother only when it suits you. He's my friend and I will always stand by his side." Luna pushed the woman and bashed through the townsmen swarming Uriel from all sides, managing to clear enough space for him to breathe.

His body was battered, bruised and there were a few missing chunks of flesh accompanied by slashes all over his body. Despite his ragged breathing he mustered enough air to speak a single word.

"Repentance." His eyes glimmered in blue as he channeled flux in a single burst that caused most of those who attacked him to burst into a fleshy explosion and the rest to fall prey to wounds all over their bodies. The wounds inflicted by his skill did not regenerate, but unfortunately to Uriel his' didn't either.

Luna grabbed him and darted towards the woods while being chased after by a bunch of rabid townsmen who frothed at the mouth as they stumped forward with their asymmetric bodies. Luna turned her head, though not to count how many enemies followed but to take a last glimpse at the woman who gave birth to her, the house where she was raised and the town she was now leaving behind forever.

Luna ventured inside the woods dodging trees while holding onto Uriel so tight it was painful and she slowly shifted back into her human form, yet she refused to let Uriel go and continued on her way despite barely being able to see the way ahead.

"Drop me on the ground, I can run." Uriel said when he noticed Luna's jagged breathing.

"No." She said and kept walking until her tiny legs couldn't endure the pain of the pace and dropped on the ground sending Uriel rolling forward.

"I told you to-" Uriel grunted, but gazed at Luna's face and fell silent. Her eyes usually devoid of emotion now held a hint of sadness and a faint smile adorned her cute but slightly discolored face as she looked back at him.

"I'm infected." She said.

"It can't be, you didn't eat the deer." Uriel gasped.

"No, but I bit one of them while in my werewolf form. It's fine, just tell the others that I... uhm... have a good time with them and that I'm thankful that they became my friends."

"Luna, don't do this to me. There must be something we can do." Uriel snarled more than said.

"Always the self centered kid with a hero complex. This isn't about you and there's nothing we can do. There is no cure."

"You may not know this, but Medusa left with the zeppelin. If you die... then I'll be alone."

"You still have Nika," She replied, but their conversation was cut short when the townsmen who chased after them began to catch up. Luna's fangs became those of a wolf despite being in her human form and a few patches of fur developed on her body. "Interesting, these are the first symptoms of the disease, but they appeared way too fast.

Take a mental now of that fact, it might help you discover more about this disease, but now you have to go. I'll hold them off"

"As if I would ever leave you alone." Uriel stood up and grabbed the Red thread of fate from his trait to wait for the incoming enemies.

"Quit playing the hero, I know you better than to think you're being selfless. Besides, they likely won't attack me since I'm infected already." Luna said as she leaned closer to Uriel then craned up her head and gestured him to lower to her level.

Uriel closed his eyes expecting a goodbye kiss without taking into account that Luna wouldn't risk infecting him. Instead of receiving a kiss, Uriel found himself flying after being thrown away with all of Luna's sizeable force.

Uriel took a last gaze at Luna relieved when the townsmen passed right by her ignoring her completely, only to be filled with horror when Luna too started chasing after him. Her mouth now spitting foam and the muscles on her face distorted beyond recognition.

"Fuck my life!" Uriel growled as he summoned his Jaguar and straddled on top of its loin. Uriel let himself be carried away in complete disarray. He didn't mind where did the jaguar took him to, as long as it kept him from being forced to fight against the tiny huntress who used to be his friend.

Unbeknownst to Uriel, the feline cryptid did know where he was going and jumped from tree to tree at an all time top speed across the forest until he reached a clearing devoid of all life. No trees, no vegetation, no bugs, nothing living could endure being in the vicinity of the foul dungeon of disease.

[System notice] Dungeon of disease discovered.
