Chapter 56: 056. The person I saw on TV in the morning, how come they suddenly appeared before my eyes.

"Sure," after spending the entire afternoon playing with Jiashu, Shen Zhimei felt a bit tired too. She raised her hand and gently patted his fluffy little head, speaking softly, "Son, what would you like to eat? Let’s not play with toys anymore, okay? Mommy and Auntie will take you out to play."

Even though his father wasn’t around, Jiashu was still very happy to go out. He put down the toy in his hand and nestled into Shen Zhimei’s arms, his eyes sparkling, "I want to eat ice cream."

Shen Zhimei knew it might be because of the heating that the air felt a bit dry. The desire for ice cream was understandable, but she refused immediately, "No, you can’t."

The light in Jiashu’s eyes dimmed instantly, and his big round eyes turned to Nan Wan, his chubby little face looking especially aggrieved, "Auntie..."

Although Nan Wan knew that eating ice cream would give Jiashu a stomach ache, especially since it was winter, she couldn’t bear to refuse and looked to Shen Zhimei for help.

"Calling Auntie won’t work; if Mommy says no, it means no," Shen Zhimei lifted Jiashu without changing her expression and walked towards the bedroom, her voice soft, "Remember when your stomach hurt?"

Jiashu nodded very grudgingly, sounding sullen, "Then I won’t eat it."

Nan Wan lay on the sofa, her heart softening as she watched.

...

After changing clothes, Nan Wan drove them to a famous Chinese restaurant.

Once the car was parked, the two of them held Jiashu by the hand, one on each side.

Jiashu didn’t seem overly attached to the idea of ice cream anymore. Swinging between the two of them with his feet off the ground, he looked quite cheerful.

As they walked by the flowerbed, a pleasant male voice called out from behind, "Zhimei."

It was Ye Junyan.

Shen Zhimei didn’t have much of a reaction to his affectionate gaze, merely nodding slightly in greeting, then looked down and introduced him to Jiashu with a calm expression, "This is Uncle Ye."

Jiashu greeted politely, "Hello, Uncle Ye."

Ye Junyan glanced at the boy, who resembled that man by about eighty percent, and the fleeting emotion in his eyes disappeared quickly, as he responded with a smile, "Hello."

Knowing they were in a public place, Nan Wan knew Ye Junyan wouldn’t do anything inappropriate, so she took Jiashu inside first.

Jiashu kept looking back as he walked, a bit puzzled, "Auntie, aren’t we waiting for Mommy?"

Nan Wan had reserved a table in advance, and a server was leading the two of them towards the dining hall.

"We’ll find a seat first; Mommy will be here soon."

...

As Nan Wan was looking at the menu, she heard Jiashu’s distinctly excited voice, "Auntie, isn’t that Qingqing over there?"

She looked up and followed his pointed direction.

It really was...

Sitting beside her were Mu Jinqian and... Mu Jinhuan.

Today might not be a good day to go out.

Nan Wan was a bit surprised to see in person someone she had just watched on television that morning.

Mu Qingqing also saw Nan Jiashu and waved her small hand, calling him over.

Repeatedly calling out "Auntie" several times without getting a response, Nan Jiashu became a bit anxious.

He climbed down from his seat, walked over to his aunt, and shook her arm, "Auntie, can I go play with Qingqing for a while?"

Nan Wan snapped back to her senses, withdrew her gaze, and nodded a bit unnaturally, "Go ahead, be careful, and don’t run around."

...

When Shen Zhimei came in, her expression was unperturbed, "Where’s Jiashu?"

Nan Wan rested one hand on her cheek, flipping through the menu on the table with the other, feigning sadness, "Oh... children grow up and you can’t keep them around anymore."
