Chapter 1380 - 1384: June Rain

Chapter 1380: Chapter 1384: June Rain

"Blame me, I’ve been too immersed in..."

"I understand. You’re seeking a breakthrough. Perhaps I can assist you," the Ancestral Temple Goddess continued to say.

As she finished speaking, the Ancestral Temple Goddess deliberately fixed her gaze on Zhu Minglang. Her damp eyelashes held a few dewdrops of rain, glistening brightly, while a faint smile began to bloom in her eyes.

Zhu Minglang held the umbrella in his hand, unsure if the shaking was due to the fierce wind or relentless rain.

"The rain’s getting heavier. Let’s talk indoors," suggested the Weaver Star.

"Alright."

...

Back at the courtyard, Zhu Minglang was chilled to the bone.

He cast a glance at the Paired Immortal Birds.

"You two little ancestors, what’s your deal?" Zhu Minglang scolded them fiercely.

"Chirp chirp chirp~~~~~"

"Back when I was on Yao Mountain, I mastered all sorts of techniques for roasting sparrows. Embarrass me, and I’ll make sure you have a bad time too!" Zhu Minglang threatened as he made a move to pluck the feathers of the two Paired Immortal Birds.

Panic-stricken, the two birds immediately fled in a comical flurry.

Zhu Minglang felt a throbbing headache.

He once found it amusing to use the Paired Immortal Birds to detect clandestine romances among mortals.

Who would’ve thought, today he’d become the fool himself!

"Sigh, forget it. I’d better focus on figuring out what’s going on with Empress Luoxiang’s temple. Helping her achieve ascension can be repayment for her care of the Sword Spirit Dragon," Zhu Minglang murmured to himself.

After sifting through some folk texts about minor deities, he managed to piece together some ideas. With a clearer direction, Zhu Minglang set off to visit the various rural mountain shrines, hoping to uncover any deeper schemes the Empress Luoxiang might be planning.

As soon as he left the house, Zhu Minglang spotted a lone beauty by the riverbank, standing gracefully amidst the drizzle, as picturesque as a poetic painting.

Zhu Minglang knew that what was destined to happen would undoubtedly come to pass.

He could only brace himself and approach her, attempting to maintain an open and composed heart.

"How many years has it been since you awoke?" the Ancestral Temple Goddess asked.

"A year or two," Zhu Minglang replied as he walked closer to her.

"How wonderful, still bearing that youthful look," the Ancestral Temple Goddess remarked.

"I don’t remember much... I’m sorry," Zhu Minglang admitted as he drew nearer.

At that moment, the Ancestral Temple Goddess slowly turned around. Although her cheeks were adorned with a radiant smile, for some inexplicable reason, it appeared tinged with sorrow, evoking a deep sense of pity.

"How wonderful, to be able to start anew once more." She removed her facial ornament, revealing a visage so breathtaking it seemed to upend the world.

The sight struck directly at Zhu Minglang’s soul, sending waves of emotions crashing through him like a turbulent river—joy, amusement, sadness, and helplessness all surged within him...

Zhu Minglang extended his arms and embraced the person he had longed for, but dared not hold her too tightly.

"Chirp chirp~~~~"

The Paired Immortal Birds swooped back over, risking being roasted and sprinkled with cumin as they circled above Zhu Minglang and the Ancestral Temple Goddess. They flitted about in jubilant flight, as if bestowing a celestial blessing, though the rain-soaked feathers of their synchronously flying forms wavered unsteadily...

Could this be his own tangled love?

Zhu Minglang realized that not everything would unfold as he willed, even if the thoughts in his heart were clear. In the hands of fate’s mischievous twists, it was all too easy to give in to fleeting impulses!

"I’m not deliberately evading anything; I really just don’t remember," Zhu Minglang said earnestly.

"Do you dream of me? I mean, from when we first met, back in Li Chuan and the Supreme Court," the Ancestral Temple Goddess asked.

"I think so," Zhu Minglang answered truthfully.

"Were they inappropriate dreams?"

"Maybe so."

"Wasn’t everything in the Dragon Gate but a fleeting dream?" the Ancestral Temple Goddess remarked.

"Yu Suo... are they all alright? I don’t even know why I’m like this..." Zhu Minglang asked.

"They’re gone. The Soul-Burning Sacrifice permanently strips away one’s lifespan. Even becoming divine cannot mend what’s been lost. Even if they were still here, they wouldn’t meet you. They could never withstand the erosion of time... Have you looked in the mirror lately? You still look like a newly born youth. If it were you with white hair and a hunched back, would you show up before us?" Nan Yuso responded.

Zhu Minglang inhaled sharply, taking several steps back. At the moment her words sank in, the world seemed to spin, leaving him feeling like an insignificant mote of dust in the vast cosmos—existing without any meaning.

How could it be!

How could it end up like this!

"Pfft!" Just as Zhu Minglang felt on the brink of collapse, a playful laugh broke the tension.

Zhu Minglang looked at Nan Yuso in astonishment.

Nan Yuso was laughing so hard she could barely stand upright, her laughter punctuated by breathless gasps. "I was just messing with you!"

"You..." Zhu Minglang felt his mind racing with countless phrases eager to burst forth yet found himself incapable of uttering a single word fitting of the moment.

"They’re off in other Sky Fields, busy with their own matters. Don’t worry, they’re as stunningly beautiful as I am, and even possesses a celestial grace," Nan Yuso teased, her laughter still trembling.

Zhu Minglang’s face turned charcoal-black.

He had genuinely believed her words.

And believed them deeply!

But as it turned out...

Ah, it was June, and fittingly, the rains came.

How mischievous!

Zhu Minglang felt as though Nan Yuso’s playful antics had almost caused his heart to shatter!

Feeling that he must retaliate, Zhu Minglang lifted his hand and brought it down firmly on a certain curving part of her. The resounding, springy slap finally let him release some of his frustration.

"You scoundrel! You’ve gone too far!!"

"You started it first!"

"This Fairy Lady will bite you to death!!"

Nan Yuso transformed into a fierce yet beautiful little tiger, pouncing on Zhu Minglang without regard for the muddy riverside ground. She tackled him down hard and began a chaotic onslaught of biting and clawing!

It was as if she was venting years of unspoken pain and longing—her bites left deep impressions on his arms and shoulders!

The Paired Immortal Birds continued to hover above the dueling couple rolling in the muck, utterly baffled by their behavior.

We symbolize mutual love and affection, not wild dogs fighting over territory!

...

By the Riverside Hot Spring, Zhu Minglang changed out of his mud-soaked clothes.

Sigh, it was only recently bought, his favorite camel-colored outfit. Now it was ruined by Nan Yuso.

Nan Yuso had also changed out of her soiled garments. From her Qiankun Bracelet, she produced not immortal treasures but a plethora of intricately styled and breathtakingly beautiful dresses.

She tried on nine outfits in succession, each time stepping out fully adorned and dazzling, putting them on display for Zhu Minglang’s judgment...

After wasting a considerable amount of time, she finally settled on an exceptionally alluring, elegant, and radiant gown. As she moved, the ornaments on her attire jingled melodiously with her every swaying step.

"Let’s go meet that Fox Demon!" Nan Yuso declared with pride and confidence.

"Isn’t she your bestie?" Zhu Minglang asked, incredulous.

"I meant Empress Luoxiang, who are you talking about??" This time, it was Nan Yuso’s turn to eye Zhu Minglang with suspicion.

Zhu Minglang almost gave himself a slap across the face.
