Dragon King: Throne of Demons and Gods -
Chapter 92: Morphose
Chapter 92: Morphose
The moment Bel triggered his evolution, the dungeon shook, his body lit up.
A wave of pressure burst out from his body. The ground cracked under his feet.
His aura exploded in black and white light, swirling like a storm. The dungeon trembled as his pressure swelled everywhere.
Then came the pain.
Bel gritted his teeth as his bones shifted. His limbs stretched. His skin turned to armor. Scales formed like armor plates, hard and sharp. His muscles swelled.
His horns grew long, curling like blades. His jaw cracked and extended into something monstrous. His back arched.
His fingers stretched into claws. His eyes glowed blue.
And then he roared.
It wasn’t a scream. It was a monster’s roar. A thundering roar that echoed across the entire dungeon, shaking the walls and stirring the air itself.
Far away, in the city.
Airi gasped.
She sat on a soft couch in a fancy inn. She turned her head like she heard something, but there was nothing.
"Is something wrong?" Crest asked, pausing halfway through his explanation.
She didn’t answer at first. Her eyes were still looking behind her.
She finally made a small noise.
"Hnn."
Crest smiled awkwardly.
"Anyway, like I was saying, this is almost the most luxurious inn in this part of the city! You’ll love it."
Airi raised an eyebrow.
"Almost?"
He laughed.
"Well, yeah. The actual best one are... Um... reserved to nobles, and fully booked anyway. But this one’s just a step below! I mean, still noble-tier service, maybe one less pillow, right?"
She rolled her eyes.
"Whatever. I’ll take it."
But her smile was tight.
Crest noticed.
"What is it? Something off?"
"It’s nothing." She crossed her arms. "Just... my sixth sense is tickling."
Crest tilted his head.
"Sixth sense?"
"Yeah. Something I got after another masterclass, normal thing."
"Oh... Uh, right. Totally normal thing."
He tried to laugh it off, then perked up with a grin.
"Huh," Crest scratched his cheek. "Hey, how about I get my own room? Just across from yours. You know. For safety."
Airi turned to him with a half-lidded gaze.
"What? You said you already have a roof, right?"
Crest scratched the back of his head.
"Yes... But... I meant in case... So I could give you tour of the town anytime, and it would be useful... I mean, if we needed to talk about battle strategies or the party—"
Airi gave him a sharp gaze.
"Yeah, no."
Crest blinked.
"Why not?"
She sighed.
"Work is work. Home is home. I’m not sharing space with coworkers."
"Coworkers? Come on, we’re a family now. And technically, we wouldn’t be sharing—"
"Crest."
"It’s just that, you know, maybe if something happens—"
"Crest."
He looked at her, sheepish.
She tilted her head slightly. Her tone was cool, but clear.
"You’re not the first guy who thought being teammates meant flirting access. I know the type. Polite voice, worried questions, always hovering around the new girl with ’extra attention.’ And then you’ll try to get into my pants."
Crest raised his hands, laughing nervously. "Whaaat? No! It’s not like that. I was just being polite."
"Polite guys don’t invent excuses to be closer during off-hours. You better control your cock before it gets you a wake-up slap."
"Okay okay! Sorry. Just... trying to be friendly."
"Try harder. Or try less."
She stared until he backed off, red in the face.
"Right. Got it. I’ll... leave you to it."
He turned and left with an awkward shuffle.
Airi exhaled and slumped into the couch. She glanced toward the side again.
"What the hell was that feeling..." she murmured.
Dark.
Everything was dark.
And then, a breath.
A slow, shaky breath. His chest moved. His body... ached?
Bel didn’t remember standing. Or sitting. Or even breathing. It was like waking from the deepest nap in the world. Like someone yanked him out of the ocean of sleep.
His eyes fluttered. Light hurt. Shapes danced. The world was still blurred, like looking through water.
What was he doing again?
His head throbbed. Each heartbeat felt like thunder. His body... it wasn’t right.
He couldn’t feel the floor. His back felt too long, his arms too heavy. Everything was... off.
He reached up, slowly, trying to rub the back of his neck. Or maybe fix his hair. But the moment his hand brushed the side of his head...
Nothing.
No feeling. Not like before.
But he saw it. Long, dark strands of hair sliding down beside him, like threads floating through the air.
He groaned.
But the sound that came out wasn’t his voice.
It was low, tough, not human.
An animal sound.
He blinked fast. Heart pounding.
What... what was that?
He raised his second hand to his face. Slowly, carefully.
His fingers met something hard.
His hand slid along the shape of his face. It wasn’t flat. It wasn’t soft. It ended in something... sharp.
A jaw.
A snout?
His breath caught. He touched again.
No. No way. That couldn’t be—
He gasped. His hands dropped, and he stepped back.
Then felt it.
A movement. Not from his feet. From behind.
Near his legs.
Something swayed.
Something thick.
Something alive.
He looked behind.
There it was: a tail.
A dragon tail.
His tail.
Bel froze.
Like a statue. Like time stopped. Only one thought filled his head:
"What the fuck?"
Bel stepped forward.
His body was huge now. Not just tall, but thick with muscle and armor-like scales. His legs were powerful, like walking pillars.
His arms were long and strong, ending in claws that could rip stone like paper.
His skin was a mix of black and dark grey, shining slightly with every breath. Thick horns curled from his head, sharper and longer than before.
His jaw jutted forward like a beast, filled with gleaming fangs. His eyes glowed bright blue, cutting through the dark like two blades of light.
He was a drake.
A grounded monster.
Behind him, his tail dragged across the floor with a slow, deadly weight.
He looked like a creature from a nightmare.

Bel stared at the screen.
Then his jaw dropped.
He didn’t say a word for a full five seconds.
Then, he flinched, backing up into a wall. A low, panicked dragon’s growl escaped his throat.
He looked down at his hands. Claws. Thick, black claws. His arms were longer, bulkier.
His chest looked like a tank. His tail twitched behind him without permission.
He couldn’t believe it.
He was a dragon.
Not just kinda. A full-blown, giant, horned-up DRAGON.
Like in the books.
Shock hit him first. Then denial.
"No no no. This... this can’t be me!"
He turned in place. He looked at the sharp shadow of his horns. His tail knocked over a rock. "This is a dream. This is a weird evolution glitch. Right? Right?!"
Then anger.
He slammed his claws into the ground.
"What am I supposed to do like this?! I can’t even move properly!"
Then, he shook his head.
"Okay okay okay... Maybe it’s not so bad. It’s a transformation, I can turn it off. Maybe, even revert to half-dragon? Human mode? Polite drake mode? Something?! I don’t even have wings... This is so ridiculous."
He sat down. Or... tried. His tail folded under him and threw him sideways into a wall.
"Ugh. I can’t even... I’m a walking building..."
But finally, he exhaled. His claws flexed.
"Okay... Fine. I’m a dragon. Big scary me. I knew this would happen, so relax. I can always get back to my human form..."
He stood up. Slowly.
His body felt weird. Heavy. Too thick. Like trying to pilot a ship with no steering wheel.
He raised a claw and looked at it. He moved it. Kinda messy, not perfect. But his body felt...
Light.
Like the weight didn’t matter anymore.
He took a step.
Then another.
Still clunky, but better.
"Guess I better try something. Just to see..."
He took a breath. Lifted his head.
Focused.
Ice.
The air shifted.
The temperature dropped.
A low wind stirred around him, carrying frost. The edges of the dungeon flickered with white light.
Walls cracked. Moisture in the air began to shimmer.
Bel opened his mouth.
And roared.
It wasn’t a normal roar. It was a command. A devastating blast of sound.
KRROOOAAAARRR!!
The ground split, the wind howled. Snow erupted from nothing. Ice covered the ceiling. The floor. The rocks. Everything.
The entire dungeon turned white in seconds.
Bel stood in the deepest part. Steam floated from his nostrils.
He blinked once.
"...Wow."
Yeah. That was the only word for it.
