Dragon King: Throne of Demons and Gods
Chapter 78: That Time I Awakened as a Demon Lord but Accidentally Became a Blacksmith Instead

Chapter 78: That Time I Awakened as a Demon Lord but Accidentally Became a Blacksmith Instead

Bel did a few little air-calculations with his fingers, mumbling to himself.

"Three... carry the one... wait, when did I learn to count?"

He blinked in surprise.

Then smirked.

"Alright. Fire Blade, come to me."

He hovered his hand over the curved interface, locking his focus on the Ember Blade.

The moment he confirmed the purchase, the item panel shimmered, and just like the dungeon key before, the screen rippled like water.

His hand slipped in.

Warmth.

His fingers brushed solid metal. With a pull, the blade came out.

Long, slender, and slightly curved, the Ember Blade pulsed with a dull orange glow.

Ember-like veins ran along its surface, and the edge shimmered faintly with heat.

He gave it a few swings.

Clean, balanced, not too heavy, but it carried enough weight to feel satisfying.

[Ember Blade]

Rarity: Uncommon+

+35 ATK

Elemental Affinity: Fire

Effect: Basic attacks have a 15% chance to inflict [Burn] on hit.

"Oho... so I don’t even need to spend mana to get the burn effect?" he grinned. "That’s convenient... But damn, 15%?"

He twirled the blade once, then set it on the ground.

Next, he turned to the [Elemental Dust (Ice)]. He tapped purchase, and a small satchel floated up from the system screen.

He reached in and pulled it out.

A pale leather pouch, cool to the touch. Opening it revealed a soft blue powder that sparkled like crushed frost.

[Elemental Dust (Ice)]Rarity: CommonType: Synthesis MaterialEffect: Adds ice-elemental traits when used in weapon or skill synthesis. Enhances ice-based weapons.

"Neat... Exactly what I need! So for the next..."

Bel looked back to the remaining items, intending to grab two more synthesis materials, but his eyes paused.

[Abyssal Spark] He had skipped over it earlier.

"Rare+... Hm."

Already better than his blade. He opened its info panel.

[Abyssal Spark]

Rarity: Rare+

Type: Synthesis Material

Effect: Converts a standard elemental affinity into an [Abyssal] variant during synthesis. Significantly boosts elemental power. Incompatible with basic weapons.

Bel didn’t even finish the sentence, his hand shot through the screen.

The moment he touched it, a jolt of chill fire ran through his arm. He yanked it out and stared.

The Abyssal Spark was a tiny orb, dark violet with flickers of silver lightning inside.

It looked like a marble that had swallowed a star.

"What the... This... this changes everything. This... this is THE thing I need the most!"

His plan from earlier? It felt like child’s play now.

"I can actually do it. I can pull it off."

Eyes gleaming, he quickly scooped up two more materials:

[Refined Blade Shard]

Rarity: Rare

Type: Weapon Synthesis Material

Effect: Used in weapon crafting or enhancement. Adds durability and base attack power.

[Bone Resin]

Rarity: Uncommon

Type: Synthesis Material

Effect: Flexible organic catalyst. Used to stabilize magical fusion reactions.

[Weapon Core Fragment]

Rarity: Common

Type: Weapon Synthesis Material

Effect: Basic component used to forge or reinforce lower-tier weapons. Enhances compatibility during fusion.

[Current Gold: 392]

He nodded to himself, then tightened his grip on the Ember Blade.

"Alright... time to get creative."

Bel opened the [Refinement] tab, and a new screen shimmered into view.

It looked like a glowing forge, surrounded by swirling patterns and hovering panels with runes written in a soft blue light.

In the center was a glowing anvil made of crystal and steel, and beside it, two options:

[1] Synthesize Gear [2] Synthesize Consumables

"Let’s see what you can do," Bel muttered, selecting the first option.

The forge shifted. The crystal anvil turned, and above it, a crafting board formed, divided into neat sections: [Base Material], [Catalyst], [Elemental Additive], and [Support Item].

Each had a soft ring waiting to be filled.

Bel leaned closer, a small grin tugging at his lips.

"Hmm... I’m starting to get it."

His hands didn’t move, but his mind guided the interface. It was strange, he had never done this before, yet everything felt natural. Like he’d done it hundreds of times in another life.

He selected:

[Refined Blade Shard] as the Base Material.

[Weapon Core Fragment] as the Catalyst.

[Elemental Dust (Ice)] as the Additive.

Then he paused.

Hovering over the [Support Item] slot was the Bone Resin. It glowed faintly, as if whispering that it would help stabilize the fusion.

He tilted his head.

"It would help. Probably even give better stats."

But then his gaze flicked toward the [Abyssal Spark] still glowing in his inventory.

"No. That one’s for something special. I can’t use it here."

He hovered a hand, trying to select only part of the resin.

But the system refused.

[Only complete items can be used.]

He sighed.

"Ah, shit."

Then something caught his eye.

In the upper right corner of the forge UI, a small glowing line.

[Estimated Success Rate: 91%]

Bel’s eyes lit up.

"Oh, that’s amazing. That high?"

He grinned. That opened so many doors. If he could see the risk of failure low enough, he didn’t need to waste resources gambling. He could build toward efficiency.

Confident now, he tapped [Confirm Synthesis].

The forge ignited.

Brilliant streaks of blue and silver fire twisted through the screen. The anvil pulsed with light as the three selected items floated and spun around each other.

The ice dust exploded into a vortex of frost. The blade shard hovered at the center, drawing in the cold, while the weapon core flared with raw light.

Then, like a heartbeat...

BOOM.

Light burst from the center.

And from it, a new weapon was born.

Long and elegant, the blade was carved from silver-blue steel, with sharp, clean edges that shimmered like frost under the light.

Jagged icy patterns curled along its body, and the hilt was wrapped in midnight cloth.

The crossguard resembled two symmetrical fangs, and the blade constantly exhaled a soft mist.

[Frost Fang Blade]

Rarity: Rare

+45 ATK

Elemental Affinity: Ice

Effect: Attacks have a 15% chance to inflict [Freeze]. Damage increases by 10% against water enemies.

Bel stared at the sword, blinking slowly.

Then he smiled.

"What a wonderful ability..."

Bel reached into the glowing interface and pulled the blade free.

It felt perfect in his grip.

Light, balanced. As easy to swing as the Ember Blade before it. Maybe even smoother.

He spun it in his hand, slashing the air with a quick flick of the wrist. The steel shimmered with faint blue trails. It wasn’t just strong, it felt alive, like a part of his body.

"So this is what happens when stats meet craftsmanship," he whispered. "Man... I could become the best blacksmith in the kingdom."

Yet, there was one last thing he had to do.

He opened the synthesis tab again, this time with a focused gaze.

"The Ember Blade. The Abyssal Spark. And now..."

He set the Ember Blade into the gear slot. The Abyssal Spark slid into the synthesis box beside it, its swirling purple flame pulsing ominously.

Then he looked at the screen.

[Success Rate: 38%]

Bel frowned.

"Oh, come on! How so low?!"

His eyes lingered on the spark. How rare was rare? Was that a unique item? Then why not ultra rare or unique? It those existed.

He didn’t know, so he couldn’t afford to lose it.

But the blade? He could live without it. The stats were decent, but it was replaceable. Especially now that he had his ice weapon.

Still... His master plan revolved around these two items.

He opened the Bone Resin from his inventory, dropped it into the catalyst slot—and watched the numbers rise.

[Success Rate: 67%]

Bel scratched his chin.

"That’s better. Still a gamble... but one I can’t avoid. If I can’t fuse this, everything I planned is pointless."

He stared at the three items glowing on the screen.

Ember Blade.

Abyssal Spark.

Bone Resin.

With a slow breath, he confirmed the synthesis.

The screen pulsed.

Energy burst outward, a golden ring circling the blade. The Ember Blade lifted, shaking violently as the abyssal spark pulsed against it.

Light and darkness swirled, purple and red flames coiling around the steel.

The blade cracked, then broke.

Bel gasped.

Shattered pieces hovered midair, suspended in glowing mist. The process dimmed, and soon, the glow faded.

Bel held his breath.

"No," he whispered.

Then...

A blue spark.

It flickered once.

Twice.

And then exploded into a ring of flames.

Abyssal fire burst into the air, roaring upward in a wild cyclone.

From the center, something began to form.

The pieces of the Ember Blade rotated, twisted, and fused into a single line, a brand-new blade of pure, blue flame.

Bel stepped back, eyes wide.

"It... worked. It actually worked!"

He lunged forward and grabbed the new weapon.

It was warm. Not hot, warm.

The blade was sleek and slightly curved, with glowing azure etchings running along the flat. The hilt was dark, wrapped in obsidian scales, and the guard curled outward like wings.

The flame shimmered around it constantly, blue and violet dancing along the edge.

He checked the stats.

[Abyssal Ember Blade]

Rarity: Epic +45

ATK Elemental

Affinity: Abyssal Fire

Effect: Basic attacks has 15% chance to inflict [Permanent Burn]. Deals 25% bonus damage to enemies weak to fire or darkness.

Bel stared at it, stunned.

Darkness? Where does that come from? But he didn’t even try to consider it.

He threw his head back and laughed, loud and wild.

"YES!"

He raised the blade, watching the flames swirl around the edge.

Now he was ready for the final fight of this dungeon.
