Dragon King: Throne of Demons and Gods
Chapter 127: Long Live the King

Chapter 127: Long Live the King

A warm energy began to rise.

It didn’t come with a flash or explosion.

No, it felt like heat blooming from deep underground, low, steady.

Red mist slipped across the vortex on the earth, curling like smoke around Bel’s breaking body.

He couldn’t move. Couldn’t speak. He just watched as the mist grew thicker, wrapping around him in a swirling spiral, until it formed a tornado of red energy, howling quietly.

And then, everything stopped.

The disintegration halted. Bit by bit, the red mist filled in the cracks of his body, stitching flesh, fusing bone, building him back together, but it felt different than natural regeneration.

A glowing red spiraling sigil glowed on Bel’s forehead. It burned into his skin, but with no pain.

Bel blinked slowly as his feet touched the ground softly.

The scenery had changed.

It was quiet now. The wind didn’t scream anymore.

All around him, dragons hovered in the air, circling him like silent sentries. But they weren’t the same as before.

Their bodies shimmered like they were made of light.

Ahead of him stood the King.

His armor was gone, replaced by simple, flowing cloth. His face was whole, clean, calm.

He looked like Bel. Exactly like him. A perfect reflection.

Bel sighed, rising slowly his gaze.

Around, the dragons, in front, the King. There was several way to describe some events, and he knew exactly how this one could go.

"...So, who’s next?"

There was no reply. No motion. Only the soft rustle of wind through mist.

The King met Bel’s eyes.

For a heartbeat, it looked like the battle was about to reignite.

Then, he moved. But not forward.

He dropped to one knee, head bowed, fist pressed to the ground.

"Long live... the King," the King said, his voice deep and clear, echoing in the void.

All around them, the dragons descended slowly, and one by one, they lowered their heads in silence.

Above them, the Balance of Justice materialized, turning slowly in the air.

For a moment, it hovered, pulsing like a heartbeat. Then, it cracked straight down the middle.

Light burst outward from the fracture as the balance shattered, mixing the cores on it and reshaped itself into jagged black fragments that coiled together into the shape of a crown.

It hovered above Bel, casting a long shadow across his face.

Around him, the dragons and the King didn’t move.

[Obsidian Crown → Throne of Ashes]

The crown descended slowly. It hovered above Bel’s brow, and then, gently, it settled atop his head.

Just then, the dragons began to glow.

One by one, they began to break apart into shiny sparks, rising into the sky.

The King, still kneeling, was the last. He raised his head, locking eyes with Bel one final time.

There was no hate, no pride between them. Only peace.

His body shimmered, and then slowly, it too dissolved, joining the stars above.

Bel didn’t hesitate.

His body began to glow. His thoughts were clearer than ever.

He smiled.

[Y]

Bel’s body began to glow, soft at first, then brighter, hotter, until the light swallowed everything.

The ground beneath him vanished. The sky disappeared. All that remained was an intense light.

Dawn broke.

But the sun didn’t rise.

Instead, the black vortex at the deepest part of the forest began to swirl.

The breeze shifted. Then howled.

The vortex grew, higher and higher, deeper than the clouds, forming a whirlpool of shadows and light.

The thunder cracked. Lightning branched across forming storm clouds.

In the capital, people froze. Adventurers. Knights. Demons. All looked toward the same point.

’Hush, my child, don’t make a sound,The Monster King is all unbound.Four heads whisper, four hearts drum,All as one, the beast will come...’

Kardrax stood still, eyes wide, while Akedios’ ever-tired gaze lifted sharply.

Logan trembled on the ground.

’Tear and pull, break and bind,Lock his body, chain his mind. One by one, they took their part,Severed limb and shattered heart.’

Inside the vortex, something moved.

A giant black wing broke through the shadow.

’Marionettes in hollow light,Shadows bleeding, black as night.Lies were sung, the war was won,But hush, my child... it’s not yet done.’

Vezalia stopped mid-step, her mouth slightly open. The woman following her, who seemed frozen in a single emotion, finally lost her smile, now surprised.

Airi, recovering, was on the ground beside Crest. He looked toward the horizon, sweat rolling down his temple.

Arkel and Ronan stood frozen, Cassandra’s eyes narrowed, while Lyraen’s eyes trembled.

’Seven chains across the land,Seven keepers, blade in hand. But should they wane, should one piece stray,The King will rise... and none shall stay.’

In the castle, the king’s cane slipped from his hand. He turned to Aurus.

"...Aurus?"

Aurus didn’t reply. He couldn’t. His eyes were fixed beyond the walls, mouth half open.

’Hush, my child, don’t close your eyes,If you dream, you’ll hear his cries.Four heads whisper, four hearts drum,All as one... the beast will come.’

Dusteria knelt on the ground. Eyes closed. Hands pressed. Her lips moved in silent prayer. Her body trembled.

And then... The sky split.

The full body of the dragon emerged from the shadows.

A colossal monster tore through the shadows.

Black scales covered its body like living armor, gleaming with a deep, violet glow.

Its wings stretched so wide they blotted out a part of the sky, massive, veined.

Red claws scraped the air, and from its skull burst a crown of twisted horns, many and jagged, forming a black, majestic halo above its head.

Sharp spinal spikes lined its neck to tail, each one humming faintly with contained power.

Its eyes opened. Two glowing purple stars.

Then came the roar.

It wasn’t just sound, it was a pressure shaking the world.

The sky split, lightning crashed in every direction. Thunder howled like the sky was screaming in horror.

Belzerion unfurled his wings, majestic and terrible, announcing his birth to the world.
