Chapter 126: Chapter 126: I Will Indulge You
Just as Chen Xuan felt the utmost disappointment toward Han Jingting and the Han Family, he looked up and saw a figure that had appeared not far in front of him without him noticing.
It was Han Jingting!
After Cui Fengjiu’s people had scared Han Jingting away, she hadn’t left but instead waited around Vegas nightclub until she saw the police arrive. She rushed over at the first opportunity, only to bump right into Chen Xuan.
"Chen Xuan?"
Seeing Chen Xuan come out, Han Jingting was overjoyed and hurried over.
"Are you okay, did you get hurt? Did they give you a hard time?"
Han Jingting checked Chen Xuan from head to toe, her words brimming with concern.
Unfortunately, due to the prejudices in his heart, Chen Xuan found her concern to be so insincere!
Looking at Han Jingting, Chen Xuan said coldly, "What are you doing waiting here? Are you disappointed that I didn’t die in there?"
"What?" Han Jingting was stunned, thinking she had heard wrong.
But Chen Xuan couldn’t be bothered to look at Han Jingting’s feigned surprise.
"Let me tell you, I’ve had enough of you, Han Jingting, and your freakish family a long time ago!"
Chen Xuan’s eyes were bloodshot, like a raging beast.
"Isn’t it just about wanting a divorce? Why go through such trouble and effort. Whenever you’re free, just bring the divorce agreement. I’ll grant you your wish!"
Having said this, Chen Xuan turned around and left without another word.
For this marriage, he had endured for a whole six years.
Throughout those six years, the Han Family had beaten him, scorned him, deceived him, and humiliated him.
Yet he had endured it all, treating it as sweet as honey.
The debt Chen Xuan owed to the Han Family, to her Han Jingting, had been paid off.
From today onwards, they would go their separate ways, forgetting each other as if they were washed away by the rivers of time!
Watching Chen Xuan’s departing figure, Han Jingting was completely stunned in place.
A moment later, a bitter smile appeared on the corners of Han Jingting’s mouth as tears flowed uncontrollably down her face.
She felt utterly wronged and extremely angry.
To think that she had foolishly risked being expelled from her family to misappropriate funds for his sake, even going as far as to fall out with her parents, only to be met with Chen Xuan’s disdain and ridicule!
Turns out, she was the one who was the fool!
Her fingernails dug deep into her flesh, almost piercing her palms and drawing blood, but Han Jingting’s heart was already bleeding profusely.
Chen Xuan, you have truly disappointed me!
With a heart full of grievance and anger, Han Jingting got into her car and drove away, leaving a cloud of dust by Chen Xuan’s side!
Over an hour later, Han Jingting finally dragged her weary body back home.
As soon as she entered, she saw Ding Lijuan and Han Bowwen had not yet gone to bed and were still sitting in the living room waiting.
"How did it go, did that useless man get rescued?" Ding Lijuan asked with visible annoyance.
Han Jingting, however, started crying without saying a word.
Ding Lijuan and Han Bowwen were startled by their daughter’s reaction.
"What’s the matter, why are you crying? That loser didn’t actually get into trouble, did he?"
"Don’t cry, even if he’s dead it doesn’t matter, mom will find you someone better," Ding Lijuan tried to comfort her, but Han Jingting’s crying didn’t stop, eventually waking up Loh Anni who had been asleep.
"Jingting, Little Rain was already asleep, your crying will wake her up!"
Upon hearing Loh Anni’s reminder, Han Jingting finally realized what was happening.
But the injustice in her heart remained unresolved, and in the end, she locked herself in her room and continued to cry with her hand over her mouth.
And so, a night passed.
Han Jingting woke up to find it was already the next morning.
She had cried all of last night, even forgetting when she had fallen asleep.
Just as she emerged from her room, the door to the living room was knocked on.
Ding Lijuan opened the door, and upon seeing Chen Xuan, her eyes widened in shock.
"Chen Xuan, you... you’re not dead?"
Seeing how Han Jingting cried like a rain-soaked doll the day before, Ding Lijuan thought that Chen Xuan had really met with some misfortune.
Chen Xuan’s smile was cold, "Yeah, not dead yet."
After saying this, Chen Xuan took Xiao Yu and left downstairs immediately.
In passing, he and Han Jingting exchanged a glance but both seemed to have not seen each other at all.
Ding Lijuan and Han Bowwen looked at each other, puzzled, not understanding what had happened between the two.
But Ding Lijuan didn’t really care.
In her view, her daughter’s relationship with Chen Xuan souring was not necessarily a bad thing; now Jingting could find a better place to belong.
Just then, the door was knocked on once again.
Thinking that Chen Xuan had returned, Ding Lijuan opened the door with an annoyed expression.
"Knock, knock, knock, what’s with all the knocking so early in the morning!"
But in the next moment, she saw that it wasn’t Chen Xuan standing at the door, but rather Han Chengye accompanied by seven or eight members of the Han Family!
Ding Lijuan was stunned, and Han Jingting and Han Bowwen were also somewhat taken aback.
"You... What are you doing here?"
Han Chengye’s face bore a smile, "Grandma invites you to the old mansion for tea, come with me."
"Tea? What tea?" Ding Lijuan was momentarily confused.
The smile on Han Chengye’s face turned cold, "You’ll find out once you get there!"
Afterward, with a wave of his hand, those Han Family members behind him escorted the family out of the house, much like prisoners.
Half an hour later, Han Jingting and her family were brought to the Han Family’s old mansion.
At the mansion, Madam Han and the key members of the Han Family had all arrived, seemingly setting the stage for a grand inquisition.
Upon seeing Han Jingting being brought in, Madam Han’s expression immediately turned sour.
With a puzzled face, Han Jingting asked, "Grandma, why did you ask us to come over so early? Is there something going on?"
"Something going on?" Madam Han snorted coldly, "I’m afraid if I didn’t call you over, you might have emptied the entire company!"
Han Jingting’s brows furrowed slightly, "Grandma, what do you mean by that?"
Han Yaru let out a cold laugh and jumped in, "Han Jingting, stop pretending. We’ve already received news that you’ve embezzled company assets; are you going to deny it now?"
Han Chengye shook his head in a schadenfreude manner as he exclaimed, "In less than a month, you dared to take away twenty million. Han Jingting, you certainly have the audacity!"
Hearing the number "twenty million," Han Jingting immediately realized that they must have been talking about the twenty-million-check from yesterday!
Han Jingting couldn’t even bother to wonder how the matter reached Han Chengye’s ears and quickly explained, "Grandma, please let me explain. Something happened at home yesterday and I did need twenty million, but I never used a single penny from the company!"
Already having thought out his approach, Han Chengye sneered, "Han Jingting, do you think we would believe a word you say?"
Han Jingting turned to Ding Lijuan, "Mom, wasn’t that check in your possession?"
Ding Lijuan nodded and quickly said, "Yes, we haven’t taken a single penny from the company, that twenty-million-check has always been with me!"
As she spoke, Ding Lijuan rummaged through the pockets on her body.
But after searching for a while, she couldn’t find any trace of the check.
Ding Lijuan looked up at Han Jingting.
"Jingting, that check seems... it seems to have gone missing..."
