Chapter 306: Chapter 306: Watched a Good Show
It was purely by chance that Ah Jiu came to this place, it being the autumn when the game was plump and succulent, that prompted him to bring people up the mountain for hunting.
As they approached the area, they heard the roar of a tiger and were all excited beyond measure. A tiger was the Beast King, and to bring one down would yield a fine hide, along with Tiger Bone and Tiger Balm, all prized commodities perfect for honoring their families back home.
And so, they followed the roars and witnessed the fierce battle between Wufu and the big insect.
Everyone was quite astonished. Hoo Die, being a spirited man, didn’t hold the small grudges with Wufu to the point of standing by to watch the young lady fall prey to the tiger. Without a second thought, he was ready to step in and lend a hand, but Ah Jiu stopped him.
Ah Jiu wasn’t heartless; he was simply curious to see just how capable Wufu really was, wondering how many deadly moves the young girl had hidden up her sleeve.
Therefore, finding a clear vantage point, they watched the drama unfold, ready to intervene and rescue Wufu should things take a turn for the worse.
In the end, from their ringside seats, they watched an exhilarating spectacle of tiger fighting and conflict among men.
Wufu didn’t disappoint him. She was an extremely rare and clever girl, brave and resourceful. She knew when to be soft and when to spare a life, but when her own life was threatened, she wouldn’t hesitate to strike her assailant dead.
The hunters didn’t catch how Wufu made her move, but he had a clear view of everything. As soon as the man lunged at her, the Hoo Die knife slipped from her sleeve and into her hand. With a single move, she opened it, turned around, and sliced across the man’s neck.
The killing blow was swift and decisive, without the slightest hesitation or delay.
Afterward, she was not at all panicked, remaining remarkably composed as she naturally suggested they dig a hole to bury the body and pin the blame on the dead tiger.
This Wufu, hahaha, was just to his liking, absolutely thrilling.
"Enjoy the show?" Wufu asked with a slight squint in her eyes, "May I know from what point Ninth Master started watching?"
Ah Jiu answered, "I saw what needed to be seen, from the moment you climbed the tree."
"So, Ninth Master decided to just stand by and watch me die?" Well, that’s just great, watching me getting beaten and letting the big insect slam into the tree. How cold-blooded!
"You wouldn’t die," the round-faced lad beside Ah Jiu said. "With us here, you wouldn’t die."
Wufu gave him a glance, said nothing, and snorted through her nose.
"I’m Xiao Li, the young servant by the master’s side. Are you the one who made Big Brother Hoo suffer a loss? Are you the one called Wufu, the Little Fox?" Xiao Li asked, blinking.
The Little Fox?
Wufu looked at Hoo Die with an almost amused expression. Are they calling her the Little Fox?
Hoo Die burst out, "What loss? It was I who let her off, choosing not to hold a grudge, and you, Xiao Li, should not talk nonsense."
"Exactly!" Wufu followed up, "Big Brother Hoo definitely isn’t a loser to some Little Fox, he just showed great magnanimity, granting her a favor."
"..." Silence fell upon the group.
Hoo Die’s face turned red as he pointed at her, "You, you..."
Vicious girl with a sharp tongue, like a Little Fox!
Xiao Li giggled upon hearing this, clapping his hands and saying, "You’re really fun, I’ve decided I like you, hahaha."
His round eyes crinkled with mirth, and Liu Jin, feeling a bit jealous, silently took his position in front of Wufu, his eyes warily fixed on Xiao Li.
This boy, always so chatty, as if he wanted to steal their girl.
