Chapter 255: Chapter 255 Undoubtedly Confirmed
Wufu quickly confirmed the room she was in, indeed it was Coffin Guy’s residence because she saw a shrine in one corner of the room, with the spirit tablets of Coffin Guy’s parents on it.
She hadn’t expected Coffin Guy to move his parents’ spirit tablets over here. Was it to conveniently offer incense day and night?
Wufu looked around the room, which was not cluttered with many items; everything was clear at a glance.
She found it a bit strange, if this Coffin Guy was indeed the Flower-Picking Thief, then what did he do with those parts of the female corpses he’d removed, and where had he put them?
As long as she could find those, she could basically confirm Coffin Guy’s true identity, right?
Wufu didn’t stay in the room for long, knowing that someone who venerated their parents’ spirit tablets in their own room and offered incense day and night wouldn’t keep those things in this room.
It wasn’t that Coffin Guy was afraid himself, but rather he wouldn’t let the souls of those wronged disturb his parents’ peace. After all, those victims had died unjustly and were incomplete in death, inhabitants of a state in which reincarnation wasn’t possible, reflecting the depth of their resentment.
Would he let his parents suffer such deep grievances?
Unlikely.
Hence, after looking around, Wufu found nothing amiss and quickly left the room.
The Mortuary had few buildings. Apart from this residence, there were two small houses, one with a chimney which should be the kitchen, and the other was a hall where coffins and corpses were stored.
Wufu returned to the hall and circled around twice before her eyes settled on the table. That Incense Burner was much cleaner than its surroundings.
Details, something Wufu was never likely to overlook. She walked over, looked up at the clay sculpture.
"With respect, Taoist Master, no offense meant, I am only seeking the truth." Wufu bowed, then moved the Incense Burner aside.
A sunken hole revealed itself before her eyes, inside was a protruding piece of wood which caught her attention; she pressed down hard.
Click, clunk, rumble.
A mechanism was triggered, and from beneath the table came sounds. The table itself shifted to the left automatically, revealing an entrance to an underground hole.
Wufu looked around cautiously, touched the Hoo Die knife she kept in her sleeve, and then bit her lip as she crawled in.
A thick scent of blood assailed her nostrils, mixed with a strong scent of alcohol and dust. Wufu stood upright, coughed twice, and squinted her eyes.
This was just a cellar, cramped and dim, but on the walls hung many tools, hooks, knives...
And on a wooden rack in the corner, there were several jars. Wufu frowned, walked closer, and peered into one of them by the light.
"Heck, I’ll be damned!"
She stepped back twice in shock. In a row, glass jars filled with a clear liquid, but what was preserved within, was a woman’s breast...
Feeling her stomach churn, Wufu vomited on the spot, expelling her breakfast.
She wiped her mouth with the back of her hand, then opened one of the glass jars; a wave of alcohol smell rushed out, making her quickly seal it again.
"Damn it, this freak!" Wufu retched again, enraged. That bastard had actually used body parts of those people to brew alcohol, truly a psychological abnormality.
Wufu steadied herself, counting, one-two-three... seven.
It appeared that in addition to the six known victims, there was one more, either Madam Zhang or another unknown victim.
"Like what you see?"
A chilling voice suddenly echoed in Wufu’s ear.
Wufu spun around swiftly. A short-statured man was standing on the steps of the underground entrance, smiling at her.
