Chapter 193: Chapter 193: Fierce Female Bully
After returning to the Old Zhou family’s home, Old Lady Zhou’s hands trembled as she downed several glasses of cold water before she finally felt revived.
Ever since Wufu had made a scene at their house before, she knew the girl had some evil aura and was fierce, but today’s incident had truly unsettled her and made her realize that Wufu had shown restraint with Madam Lu; otherwise, it would have been more than just a broken finger.
How could there be anything good left untouched on Baozi’s face after the beating?
"Look at her, what is she like, is this a female hooligan? What is Ying Mei doing, letting her create such a mess unchecked? Truly, it’s a disgrace and a big one at that." Zhou Xuennian ranted angrily and loudly.
Wufu’s defiant challenge had made him feel extremely embarrassed; what kind of young girl was so fierce and even brawled with others?
"You better shut your mouth," Old Lady Zhou scolded as she heavily put down the large bowl in her hand, "Haven’t you seen clearly by now?"
Zhou Xuennian was taken aback, "Mother?" What was there to see clearly?
"Wufu is no longer the submissive girl she used to be; you can’t afford to provoke her, nor should you." Old Lady Zhou said with a headache, the girl was wicked through and through, acting completely unreasonably—who knew what she might do next?
This demeanor was such a stark contrast from her past self.
"I can’t afford to provoke her? Mother, I’m her eldest maternal uncle!" Zhou Xuennian huffed.
It was ridiculous. He was her uncle; what was this talk of not being able to provoke her? Did that wretched girl truly dare to lay a hand on him?
"Whether she acknowledges you or not is another matter," Old Lady Zhou climbed onto the kang bed, exhausted. "Let’s leave this matter be, don’t talk about it anymore." As she rolled a string of wooden beads in her hand, Old Lady Zhou added, "And don’t get involved in today’s matters either."
Zhou Xuennian wanted to say more, but Zhou Xueli cut in with a question, "Mother, but what about all the gossip outside, do we just ignore it?"
"That’s not for us to worry about either; Wufu has her own capabilities. Didn’t you see today? Does she need us to step in for her?" Old Lady Zhou snorted coldly, "People have mouths of their own, who can control what they say? After today, whoever talks nonsense is just asking for trouble."
Wufu’s behavior was obviously not that of a pushover; if others deliberately provoked her, knowing the consequences, they would have no one to blame but themselves.
It wasn’t that Old Lady Zhou was trying to flatter Wufu; rather, she felt a bit intimidated. Facing this unfamiliar Wufu, she was frightened and unwilling to confront her.
Zhou Xuennian, slow on the uptake, said, "Wait, how does she know martial arts?"
This was something everyone wanted to know but no one understood, nor could they make sense of.
Old Lady Zhou sent everyone away and stood in front of the Buddha she worshipped, reciting scriptures for a while until she felt less anxious. Then she stood in front of her late husband’s tablet, lit a stick of incense, and murmured, "What exactly has she been through? What kind of change is this, and is it a blessing or a curse for our Old Zhou family?"
No one answered and after a long while, she said fiercely, "If she truly brings disaster upon the Old Zhou family, I will never let her off."
Meanwhile, in the village, there was a lot of gossip, painting Wufu’s fierce nature in an even more malicious and evil light.
In no time, rumors shifted from the place where Wufu lived being disreputable to focusing on Wufu herself.
After all, for a girl to suddenly become so powerful was really suspicious and frightening to people.
It was fortunate that Madam Lu and Zhou Xiuer had returned to their maternal home to visit relatives these past few days; otherwise, if the word "Monster" had slipped out due to their loose tongues, everybody would probably have started thinking along those lines.
And for Madam Zhou, listening to Liu Jin excitedly describe Wufu’s bravery did not bring her joy but rather deepening worry.
