Don’t Mess with that Turtle -
Chapter 520 - 520 116 Netherworld_2
520: Chapter 116 Netherworld_2 520: Chapter 116 Netherworld_2 Qing recognized this Phoenix; upon first entering the Phoenix Nest and after the Feng Si ritual, it was this Phoenix that had seized the Green Bird’s body to meet him.
It gave Qing a set of Secret Books—recording the preferences and taboos of each member of the Phoenix Clan.
Its name was Feng Qi, with dark flames that carried an aura of the Netherworld.
Upon seeing Feng Si and Qing, it let out a long cry and, flapping its wings, descended to them.
The people from Sword City Mountain had not all come out; Feng Qi’s aura ran wild, shrouding the entire sky with dark clouds, and the air was chilling with Yin Qi.
It was not a place suitable for ordinary cultivators to live.
“Little guy, you’ve gotten stronger since I last saw you!” Feng Qi, fluttering its wings, hovered over Qing’s head and looked down at him.
Unlike Feng Si who had shrunk in size, it remained at its original size, casting a shadow so large it eclipsed the sun while floating in the air.
To Divine God Beasts, not seeing each other for a few years was really no different than just a few days, merely the time it takes for a nap.
Qing returned the gesture, “I’ve seen Uncle Qi.”
Technically, he should’ve referred to him as “Seventh Uncle,” but this fellow preferred to be called “Uncle.”
“Eh?” Not bad, little guy, you can withstand my True Fire aura?
Feng Qi exclaimed in surprise.
His black True Fire was unlike any other, carrying a hint of Yin Ghost Qi, and it was somewhat similar to the Qi found in Feng Zhong.
His early arrival was also to help Qing adapt to the Qi of Feng Zhong, so he wouldn’t struggle with sudden exposure.
Qing shook his head; he hadn’t felt anything unusual.
The Netherworld Qi contained in Feng Qi’s True Fire was far less intense compared to that of the Netherworld Passage.
Qing had plundered Netherworld Qi from Soaring Snake, and ever since he could open the Netherworld Passage, the extremely Yin Qi had no effect on him.
Even now, as the Peacock True Body.
“Good, if that’s the case, you needn’t waste your time with me here.
Just follow your Aunt Four into Feng Zhong and start adapting to its Qi,” said Feng Qi.
Though it should’ve been a joyful first meeting, this place was Feng Zhong, after all; it was inappropriate to laugh and joke with the younger generation in a cemetery.
With a soft chirp, Feng Qi’s body shifted aside.
The dark clouds in the sky converged to form a towering gatehouse that descended and settled above the sea.
The gatehouse seemed boundless, even one pillar looking as massive as a mountain, but it wasn’t solid.
It was formed from the rolling dark clouds.
Within it, there were phoenix cries and beast roars mixed with the sound of thunder and lightning.
Feng Si flapped her wings, hovering outside the gatehouse, looking at the two Phoenix Seals inscribed on it: “Feng Zhong”!
“This gate will fully materialize only on the day of the Grand Ritual.
Right now, only you and I can enter.
Come with me,” she whispered to Qing, her wings stirring the clouds as she flew into her normal size and disappeared through the gatehouse with a phoenix cry.
Qing turned to wave at Feng Qi, then sprang up on his wings, following closely behind Feng Si into the gatehouse.
His form was too small, not even the size of one of Feng Si’s feathers, yet his speed was not slow, like a shot arrow, he zipped through the gatehouse and out of sight.
After the two had vanished, Feng Qi let out a cry and turned to look deeply into the Southern Sea, where a pair of eyes flickered and then were gone.
Feng Qi hummed.
Ignorant beings courting death, every time there was a grand ritual of the Phoenix Clan, there would always be reckless fools trying to snatch a bite from the tiger’s mouth.
A feather fell from his body, transforming into an arrow and shooting off into the deep sea.
A black mist surged to the sky, accompanied by a piercing scream, but what transpired was not apparent.
Qing crashed headfirst into the gatehouse, the scenery in front of him shifting.
He still saw the boundless sea, but now there was land ahead, on which stood a volcano that reached to the heavens, yet it bore no smoke as if it had died.
Feng Si hovered in the air, her gaze toward the volcano tinged with melancholy.
As Qing flew in, he collided with Feng Si’s feathers.
The bone-chilling Ice Flame did not hurt him, nor did it provoke a reaction from the golden flames on his body.
Qing didn’t rush to get up.
Instead, he just poked his head out and lay on Feng Si’s back to look around.
He didn’t feel any special Qi here; everything seemed no different from the outside world.
Feng Si, gazing at the distant land, said to Qing, “The true great tomb is inside the volcano.
Legend has it that the volcano used to erupt continuously in ancient times, nearly destroying the entire Southern Sea, until Phoenix Ancestor personally Suppressed it.”
Feng Si felt no aversion to Qing’s laziness for landing on her back.
In fact, the hint of desolation in her eyes dissipated slightly as she carried him and charged towards the land.
As they soared over the land, a refreshing Qi assailed them.
It was not overwhelming but rejuvenating for Qing.
Below was a grassland, the green grass swaying with the wind.
But there were no insects nor birds among the grass, let alone a myriad of beasts.
The land was utterly devoid of anything but plants.
“Be careful, it’s about to come,” warned Feng Si.
Qing took off from her back and flew up, following Feng Si as they landed on the ground and watched the western sun slowly set.
As the sun went down, Feng Zhong turned pitch black in an instant—without any transition, everything happened in a flash.
Feng Si, now about the same size as Qing, settled on a phoenix tree and looked down at him.
Qing’s eyes suddenly narrowed and his True Fire instantly transformed into a fireball, shooting behind him and exploding three yards away.
Only then did Qing turn to look back and saw the previously empty grass was now home to a bizarre shadow that dispersed with the explosion of his True Fire.
In the instant the shadow dispersed, a wave of Yin Qi spread out and swiftly enveloped Qing.
Qing dodged the incoming Qi, but it clung to him like a persistent maggot, following him closely.
The faster he dodged, the faster the Qi pounced.
It was only somewhat similar to Feng Qi’s True Fire, but it bore a strong resemblance to Netherworld Qi.
Qing looked up, “Is this the Qi within Feng Zhong mentioned by grandma?”
