Don’t Mess with that Turtle
Chapter 313 - 313 41 Acknowledging the Master_1

313: Chapter 41 Acknowledging the Master_1 313: Chapter 41 Acknowledging the Master_1 The strongest rule in the Strange Land: one may only perform actions that fit their status.

As the head of a household, dismissing a disgraced butler was reasonable and appropriate for a master.

The butler’s clothes were stripped by the maidservant, even his undergarments were removed.

Yet, the butler stood there dumbfounded, as if frozen.

The maidservant continued, the scene excessively indecent.

Su He shifted his body to block Su Huanian and Green Snake from the sight.

The butler was completely frozen, as if malfunctioning.

Since his creation, no one had ever treated him in such a manner.

Information was insufficient in his database, rendering him unable to respond.

The rain grew heavier, and from afar came a cacophony of sounds, a hoarse voice shouting “Everyone step back, the Lady of the House has arrived!”

The rescue had arrived!

The Strange Land had its own set of laws.

Should there be errors in the intermediary steps, it would surely self-correct.

Within this mansion, the only person of higher status than the master was the Lady of the House.

From the title alone, one could tell the Lady of the House was positioned much like the Dowager in Red Mansion, overpowering the master by rank, ensuring there was someone to control the scene no matter the incident.

But oh!

Su He laughed.

What a pity it was the Lady of the House and not the Old Master!

The king of the backyard should just stay put; when it came to crucial matters, it was still the masters who were in charge!

Before the Lady of the House could enter, Su He’s roar had already echoed forth, “Stop the Lady of the House!

This place is filthy, such a lewd and sordid act, should it sully the Lady’s eyes, all you servants, every single one of you will be cast out of Long Moon Mansion immediately!”

Come on!

If you dare to correct me, I dare to flip the table!

The noisy clamor ceased instantly.

Long Moon Mansion became as quiet as a chilling cicada, the Lady’s voice gone, the voices of the servants and ruckus of the coming men gone, with only the pelting rain and the maid’s rapid panting audible.

The scene was too Ninth Eye Bridge.

The Strange Land had a bit of intelligence, but not much.

It was probably weighing the importance of losing one butler versus losing a group of servants.

After a moment, a senior maidservant entered with a white umbrella parting the rain, walking straight towards Su He.

With an expressionless face, she said, “Master, the Lady of the House says this is not the Butler’s fault, the Butler was compelled…”

“I know that!” Su He interrupted her abruptly, “Does his guilt or innocence matter?

The prestige of the mansion is what’s important!”

Actions befitting one’s status were not necessarily correct!

As the head of the household, should he care about the butler’s innocence or the reputation of Long Moon Mansion?

The senior maidservant froze for a moment, then bowed and departed without further argument.

“Where’s Little Fourth Son?

Not yet thrown out the disgraceful things from the gate!

Why keep them here to be an eyesore?”

Little Fourth Son had not come; he was madly kowtowing in the rain afar, at one moment saying, “Master and Mistress have returned.”

Another moment: “Master, you’ve been blessed with a daughter, it’s time for a young master…”

He was the butler’s personal attendant.

When the Butler was in disarray, so was he.

Two unseen servants emerged from the rain, dragging the butler away, seemingly to throw him out of the mansion.

The maid who was twined around him vanished into a wisp of green smoke.

The strongest strike had been dealt, naturally dissipating.

Su He turned back into the house, only to see the old dog’s grey-white fur regain a hint of black.

The Butler was too important in the Strange Land; his temporary annihilation led to the return of some of the stolen presence.

The old dog was marking his territory at the four corners of the house.

As Su He entered, he felt as though the world inside the house was isolated from the outside.

The old dog had wrested control of this house back from the Strange Land.

Su Huanian looked at Su He and said with a light laugh, “Using the rules to help the Strange Land evolve is also aiding its advancement.

Once it adapts and develops new rules, arranging for a new Butler will likely be even more challenging.”

The Strange Land evolved through repeated failures and exploitation, until the beings within it matched ordinary humans in intellect.

Su He laughed, “Don’t worry, sister, how could I give it that chance?

Moreover, eradicating the Strange Land isn’t the goal.

It’s using it to track down Prince Duko that matters!

It wasn’t just for Elder Qiao.

Prince Duko’s talk of an Undead body and the Evil-suppressing Taoist Palace also greatly intrigued Su He.

“Hey!

Do you know where the Evil-suppressing Taoist Palace of Long Moon Mansion is?” Su He asked the old dog, urinating on the floor.

The dog, lifting its leg by the wall, tilted its head to look at Su He when it heard him, and then put its leg down with a shiver.

A face full of confusion.

It didn’t know anything.

Confirmed, it was a foolish dog.

Su He called out toward the door, “Someone come!”

In the rain, two oil-paper umbrellas floated over, and two maidservants bowed, “Master!”

Their voices carried a bit of Death Qi.

If they sounded more lively, they would be like two charming young maidservants.

“Inform the people inside the mansion to find someone with good handwriting, to write an announcement—Long Moon Mansion is recruiting a Butler!

How can such a large estate go a day without a Butler?”

Being a master even for a day warrants full commitment.

How could he allow the household to be in disorder?

The Butler need not be evolved and arranged by you, I will find one for you!

The two maidservants trembled intensely, then after a long moment, they bowed and said, “Yes, Master!”

Their tone was monotonous, their footsteps in perfect unison.

The Strange Land was a single entity; in reality, all the servants were essentially the same being.

Su He contemplated, then raised his head and hummed softly, casting a Blood Curse towards the departing maidservants.

The Blood Curse, marking an enemy.

The Blood Curse was formless and invisible, soluble only by the Dragon Turtle that cast it.

No other method, not even reincarnation or other Dragon Turtles, would be effective!

Once Su He cast a Blood Curse, half of the Long Moon Mansion was imbued with the aura of the curse, affecting servants, maidservants, and even the trees and beasts.

“What did you do?” Green Snake looked around, her animal instincts telling her Su He had definitely done something, yet no matter how hard she looked she couldn’t see it.

“Nothing much, just made a mark.” Su He smiled.

By now the sky had gradually darkened, the dense clouds obscuring any moonlight.

Su He had no plans to dispel the rain, regardless of what Strange Land intended to do, it was always right to go against it as long as it conformed to the rules.

“Senior sister, do you think Prince Duko should have noticed the error in Strange Land and that the butler has been dismissed?

With such a big fuss to recruit a new butler, do you think he will show up?”

She was somewhat envious of White Spirit’s divination ability, which made finding people all too convenient.

Su Huanian’s voice was cold, “If he knew that it’s a Dragon Turtle coming in, he definitely wouldn’t come.”

If he dared to come knowing it’s a Dragon Turtle, that meant he had malicious intentions, and he deserved to be killed!

Makes sense!

Su He looked outside.

“With such nice rain, do you want to go out for a walk, senior sister?” Long Moon Mansion was divided in two, and the western half had yet to be eroded by Strange Land, which Su He wanted to check out.

“Sure!” Su Huanian’s voice was light as she picked up her sword and went out, then turned to Green Snake and said, “Don’t leave this house.”

This yard had been taken back by the artifact spirit, keeping Strange Land from prying into it and unable to do anything about it.

Moreover, Strange Land had just been damaged and would not cause any trouble before it recovered.

After all, Strange Land was just an aggregate of twisted laws, acting only on instinct.

It couldn’t carry out surprise attacks.

If she followed Su He out, they might run into something, perhaps a new law.

Staying in the house was actually safer.

One person and one turtle left in the pouring rain, with the water automatically parting as it fell on Su Huanian’s head, leaving her clothes dry.

They walked in silence until they reached the lakeside.

“Do you want to come up?” Su He asked.

With a light laugh, Su Huanian gracefully leapt onto Su He’s shell, and the rain completely parted, not even touching Su He anymore.

In fact, Su He really liked rainy days; she preferred the feeling of getting soaked to being dry.

But clearly, she couldn’t let Su Huanian get rained on.

Swimming across, they headed west.

“The spiritual power in this water is indeed rich; this place must have been a Greater Power’s abode, now tainted by petty thieves.” Su He remarked with a sigh.

The artifact spirit was almost beaten to death, and the owner had not appeared; it should be a place without an owner now, right?

Moreover, with Strange Land’s invasion, aside from the artifact spirit, the abode had no other spontaneous resistance, and the owner’s protective formation probably lost its effectiveness over time.

Su He looked around; even with Strange Land’s contamination, Long Moon Mansion was still stunningly beautiful, almost like a painting of the Jiangnan area.

But the rain was too heavy, imposing a sense of coercion.

The downpour smacking against the water surface created ripples that disrupted this picturesque scene but raised another kind of feeling, like a bold indisposition not taken kindly by Jiangnan’s women.

Su He gently paddled the water, Su Huanian sitting sideways on the shell, looking up at the sky with her hair fluttering in the wind.

An old dog huffed and puffed as it followed Su He, also swimming towards the west side.

The three-hundred-li mansion was just a blink away with Su He’s current speed.

They moved closer to the western side untouched by Strange Land, and the storm behind them worsened with lightning and thunder, houses collapsing with a crash.

Strange Land was reluctant to let Su He leave, and a servant appeared in the distance, shouting at Su He from afar, but Su He roared back first, “Taking a lake tour on a rainy day, the master with his lady enjoying the view, who dares to pester?!

Instead of advising, go and obediently boil ginger soup for the master’s return!”

The servant stood stunned in the rain, as the raindrops pattered down on him.

Before he could retort, the turtle had already carried the splendid fairy through the rain, rushing into the other half of Long Moon Mansion.

The old dog followed closely behind.

Once it reached this half, it immediately became lively, leaping from the water, running on the lake surface, excitement clearly shown.

“Is it the artifact spirit, somehow cut off by Strange Land, unable to return?” Su He inquired.

Su Huanian admired the beautiful but seemingly otherworldly Long Moon Mansion, realizing it was the half not invaded by Strange Land once she came over, while the Dragon Turtle seemed to know in advance.

“Strange Land is mysterious, no one can clearly tell its rules,” Su Huanian stated lightly.

If it weren’t for Su He recalling the butler today, causing Strange Land to be instantly disrupted, let alone the artifact spirit, even they wouldn’t have been able to easily escape Strange Land and arrive on the western side.

“Did you call me out here because there’s something you need?” The Dragon Turtle went straight to the west side, there must have been a reason for it.

“Old dog, block Strange Land’s detection,” Su He instructed the old dog, who tilted its head, puzzled.

Su Huanian assured, “Don’t worry, Strange Land can only control what’s within itself.”

That said, she still threw a command badge to isolate the area.

Su He took out the “Affection” jade pendant from the External Space.

The distant old dog abruptly turned its head, staring at the jade pendant in shock, then froze.

It immediately started barking and rushed over.

Jumping onto Su He, it began to howl plaintively.

Its cries were pitiful as if it had not seen its owner for a long time.

It turned out that it had not sensed the jade pendant before!

This artifact spirit was really useless.

The quality of the jade pendant had been elevated, now connected to Su He’s essence.

As soon as it was taken out, half of the lake rippled.

With a thought from Su He, the jade pendant split in two—one Yin and one Yang, resembling a pair of fishes.

The Yang fish stayed by her side, while the Yin fish floated towards Su Huanian.

Her breathing quickened.

Su Huanian gazed at the Yin fish, stunned for a long moment, then suddenly beamed with a smile, reaching out with her delicate hand and plucking the jade pendant from mid-air.

The pendant did not return but instead, a red thread wrapped around her wrist, looking like a bracelet.

Su He was overjoyed, not even having the chance to express her delight with a chant before the old dog became anxious, running back and forth, barking urgently.

It tugged at them to head towards the shore.

Once onshore, the old dog crashed into a small hill, merging into it, and shortly after a ritual platform rose from the hill.

The modest ritual platform was only half a person tall, with a gap in the center, perfectly shaped to fit the Yin Yang jade pendant.

The old dog emerged from the platform, eagerly looking at Su He and Su Huanian.

“Recognizing the owner?” Su Huanian murmured softly.
