Ji Feixue fell silent.
Was this White Spirit’s scheme?
She smiled gracefully, “Little girl, your habit of scheming against others just can’t be changed.
You might mean well for others, but they might not appreciate it!”
For Divine God Beasts, Opening The Heaven is more important than Crossing the Heavenly Catastrophe.
Yet such an essential matter was conducted with the one involved remaining completely in the dark.
Who could be happy about it?
Just like those parents in the Mortal Realm, who decide their children’s future without consent, enlisting their sons in the military when they’ve clearly registered for the imperial examination.
It might be better for the child, but it could also lead to estrangement between father and son over this one issue.
White Spirit’s designing of the Tao foundation is acceptable, for she paved the path, but at least Su He was an informed party, knowing what he was doing.
Opening The Heaven, however, was done without his knowledge.
Admittedly, a world with Earth Cloth is much better than a typical Opening The Heaven, unprecedented, and likely without future equal.
The Tao foundation of the Sixty-Four Trigrams is not something anyone can create.
To this day, Ji Feixue does not know how White Spirit managed to deceive Heaven and Earth to remold the Sixty-Four Trigrams.
The hexagrams are unique; there is only one set of Sixty-Four Trigrams in all the heavens, non-replicable.
Ji Feixue is confident that even Su He’s copying talent cannot duplicate new Sixty-Four Trigrams!
One need not think hard to know the price White Spirit paid to create the Sixty-Four Trigrams Tao foundation over countless ages, only to give it to Su He.
But it crossed a line…
Boundary-less care is not always welcomed.
Just like her mother back then, paving her way early on, arranging opportunities and planning challenges at every turn to set her on the path of Divine God Beasts, without considering whether she truly liked it.
Were it not for her mother’s secrets and deceptions along the way, she wouldn’t have stubbornly embarked on the Tao of Demonic at the very moment she was about to become a Divine God Beast.
Youth is always rebellious.
Do not act recklessly under the guise of doing what’s best for them.
Even if the sentiment is genuine.
The Earth Cloth appeared, separating Chaos from the Inner World.
Chaos no longer burst forth; the process of Opening The Heaven seemed to be over.
The Spiritual Power whirlpool above the heads of the spectator crowd slowly dispersed.
Qing Cang soared up, flicking its tail as it entered the clouds, still needing to monitor the Dragon clan’s situation within the Dragon Gate.
With Qing Cang’s departure, everyone’s gaze immediately turned to Su He, only to see the Protective Golden Lotus had closed up, enveloping the Dragon Turtle within.
“Is he consolidating his Boundary Status, or has the Consciousness into Beast transformation not yet concluded?” someone whispered furtively.
“Consolidating Boundary Status, right!
With Consciousness into Beast, if the resident consciousness awakens briefly, it doesn’t affect transformation, but if it stays awake this long, the transformation surely must have failed, right?”
When resident consciousness briefly wakes, it doesn’t disrupt transformation, but continual consciousness inevitably equals transformation failure.
“Left too early.” Ji Feixue’s figure flickered, and she approached Su He.
Qing Cang had departed prematurely.
Opening The Heaven was indeed over, but something had gone awry!
Even White Spirit, no matter how formidable, could not have predicted every minute detail of events millennia later.
This world could not be considered naturally forged!
It was, in fact, influenced by Su He’s consciousness.
Without that soaring Wild Goose, the witch would not have used the Sixty-Four Trigrams to Open The Heaven at that moment.
Su He’s will to break through the skies had influenced the witch.
The Earth Cloth was not yet fully formed.
…
Crack!
A bolt of lightning exploded among the clouds, and a Wild Goose, breaking through, was struck squarely, plummeting headfirst toward the ground.
It smacked onto the paving stone with a splat.
Another Wild Goose materialized beside the corpse, looking bewildered at the “self” lying dead before it, then lifted its gaze to the darkly clouded sky.
At this moment, the rain poured down.
Again, this season, again, relentless rain.
Does East Cloud Mountain always experience heavy rain every June or July?
Last year, it was during such a downpour that it had gone to Tinghai Lake, and this year again…
Huh?
The Wild Goose froze.
Memory was being restored!
Tidal waves of recollections reversed back, farmhouses, wild wolves, Dragon Divine God Sacrifice…
Intensive training, Seven Absolute Secret Realm…
Transmigration, previous life…
As the memories gradually returned, Su He’s complexion began to look troubled.
There was no so-called flock of geese; it wasn’t the tribe but himself that had issues in the West!
Just as the memories had returned, the voice of the Toad appeared in his heart, “Follow me!”
His brain felt as if it was being savagely hooked, the Wild Goose shuddered, and most of his consciousness was dragged back to his own body.
The Dragon Turtle opened its eyes, immediately aware of the difference in its body, a torrential force surging within, the Boundary Pearl expanding by three folds, with most of the mountain and river reflections vanishing from its surface.
He had Opened The Heaven!
Su He was startled.
Why had he Opened The Heaven?!
“You’ve got to pick your moments to daydream, kiddo!
If you don’t want that Earth Cloth in your Inner World, peel it off and give it to me!” Ji Feixue’s temptingly mischievous voice arose in Su He’s ears.
Inner World?
Earth Cloth?
Su He’s Divine Sense entered the Boundary Pearl, only to find its status greatly changed: the towering Tai’a Mountain stood at the center, unscalably high, while around it lay mountain ranges, plains, lakes, and seas…
He had truly Opened The Heaven!
Some of the geography looked eerily familiar, evidently resembling the reflection of the landscape outside the Boundary Pearl.
“Green Flower!” Su He exclaimed.
How could it allow the Boundary Pearl to Open The Heaven while it was by his side?
It surely could have pulled back his consciousness!
The Toad appeared within the Boundary Pearl, but remained silent, looking down with a shifty gaze.
It wasn’t that the Toad was weak, but the enemy too formidable.
In Ji Feixue’s presence, it hadn’t even the chance to resist!
Ji Feixue’s voice, ever eager for chaos, rose again in Su He’s ear.
“Tsk tsk!
It did all that while you were out.
Hang it up and give it a whipping!
I have a whip; do you need one?”
The toad shook its head like a pendulum, signaling to Su He with its paw towards the sky above, indicating the gravity of the situation and warning that the enchantress was lying.
As though deaf to Ji Feixue’s voice, Su He ignored her; this dragon mother was a lunatic, beyond reason.
He looked outside of his inner world.
There was a membrane around it, but it resembled a balloon that still had an unsealed air hole, which was gradually widening.
If left unattended, the membrane would eventually disintegrate completely.
“Oh!
See the point now?” Ji Feixue’s voice transmitted, “How about shattering most of the inner world to repair the Earth Cloth?
It’s a good deal!”
Broken worlds could evolve again with enough Chaos, but without the Earth Cloth, it was truly gone!
But Su He had only known about the existence of the Earth Cloth for a few days, how could he repair it?
Furthermore, he could sense that the Earth Cloth outside his inner world shouldn’t exist at all; it was forcibly conjured into being.
Don’t take the Dragon Turtle for a fool!
Does the inner world of a Divine God Beast even have Earth Cloth?!
He’d read countless materials about inner worlds; if Earth Cloth really existed, how could there be no record of it?
His consciousness had been absent during this time; what had that witch done to him?!
Although he didn’t understand why there was Earth Cloth in his inner world, he could feel it was extremely useful!
With a roar, Su He mobilized the power of his inner world, directing it forcefully towards the Earth Cloth, attempting to mend it.
The moment the Power of the World touched the Earth Cloth, the membrane’s tear expanded even faster.
Brute force couldn’t repair it.
“Refine it!
Merge!” Ji Feixue’s voice rang out again, this time without the demonically whimsical tone.
Two soft things were stuffed under the paw and into his realm, and Su He opened his eyes to see two identical pieces of Earth Cloth.
“Don’t just look!
It’s not free, even if you stare.
For two pieces of Earth Cloth, you owe me two favors!” Ji Feixue giggled.
Su He: “…”
Witch!
These two pieces of Earth Cloth had been refined, the original Power of the World removed, leaving them as pure, unblemished membranes.
Two favors, considered as payment for the refining process!
With a thought, Su He directed the Earth Cloth into his inner world, where they turned into jelly-like substances.
They appeared directly at the tear in the inner world’s membrane and stuck to it.
Repairing the sky success → Repairing the sky failure.
No sooner had the two pieces of Earth Cloth adhered than they slipped off again.
The Earth Cloth from the real world was distinct from that of the inner world; they did not carry the same aura.
Feeling helpless as the hole widened, Su He steeled his heart and flung the Opening Heaven Pen at the two globs of Earth Cloth, guided by his intent.
If anything in the inner world had a strong aura, aside from Tai’a Mountain, it was the Opening Heaven Divine Artifact.
Between the witch and the pen, Su He abandoned the pen.
Each time he opened the heavens, an Opening Heaven Divine Artifact congealed.
Since the First Heaven had been blasted open without his knowledge, its corresponding divine artifact was now useless.
Yet, the witch and pen were one; when he threw one, the other followed.
The witch reached the Earth Cloth, raising her hands as if emulating Nuwa mending the sky, soaring up, placing the Earth Cloth into the tear, her form dissipating into twinkling stars that merged into the Earth Cloth.
The two utterly different types of Earth Cloth were fused together by his forceful actions.
The foreign Earth Cloth did not originate from the inner world; the witch sacrificed herself to become Bu Tian Stone.
Su He was silent.
“Does it have consciousness?” Su He inquired.
The toad shook its head, “It shouldn’t have.
This is just a reflexive action of rules; the purpose of the Opening Heaven Artifact is to mend the sky.
If there’s damage to the membrane, it would automatically repair it.
It’s like…
a magnet automatically sticking to iron—those are just the rules.
It’s just that the matters of cultivation are slightly more complex.”
The witch wasn’t human; she was an Opening Heaven Artifact.
After dissipating, half of her starlight merged into the Earth Cloth, mending the membrane.
The other half merged into the Opening Heaven Pen.
The Opening Heaven Pen fell from the sky, hovering above the summit of Tai’a Mountain.
After surveying his inner world, Su He’s Divine Sense and Intention withdrew from the Boundary Pearl, and he slowly opened his eyes.
Ji Feixue was sitting cross-legged on a Golden Lotus, idly swinging her feet.
Su He, upon opening his eyes, looked at her.
Ji Feixue chuckled, “Don’t look at me, I’m not to blame.” She knew what Su He was checking and didn’t want to take the blame.
She tapped her forehead with a finger, projecting a phantom onto the Golden Lotus.
It was the silhouette of a devastatingly beautiful woman, the very one who had danced for Su He under the moonlight.
The White Spirit in human form.
She made her appearance, but stood without action, her eyes somewhat vacant, reminiscent of a blind person.
Su He looked towards Ji Feixue.
Princess Chang put a finger to her lips, “Shhh!
This is a small fragment from my severed memories, words spoken by White Spirit to me, but she’s using me to leave a message for you.”
Su He waited in silence.
After a moment, the phantom smiled and said, “I apologize for overstepping and making decisions on your behalf.
Don’t blame me for not informing you, knowing something is to participate; if you were involved, an inner world membrane would never have formed.”
She offered no further explanation but shook her head with a light laugh, “Regardless, I was in the wrong.
If slaughtering a corpse from its tomb eases your anger, you may kill or carve as you please.”
There seemed to be a touch of melancholy in her manner.
After being silent for a while, she added softly, “Don’t worry, my brother; it’s hard to divine your fate from now on.
You’ve always been special, your destiny impenetrable.
Before, with the Turtle Shell, I could make some predictions.
But now that you’ve opened the heavens and are filled with the Power of the World, divination is no longer possible.
This was my last divination and the last time I could help you…”
She fell silent for a while, and just as Su He thought the memory was finished, she murmured softly, “Ten thousand years… too long; I can’t calculate for you anymore…”
The scene stopped there; the memory turned to dust and vanished.
For some reason, Su He felt an uncomfortable block in his heart.
Looking at Ji Feixue, he asked, “Why didn’t she break free?”
She wasn’t clamoring for others to call her sister, wasn’t causing trouble or breaking free; instead, there was a serene calmness about her, as if she were a peaceful woman, her tone even carrying a hint of desolation, making Su He feel oppressed and extremely uncomfortable.
His emotions, already suffocated and angry, could not find release, growing even more stifling.
Ji Feixue remained silent, just gazing into the distance, tapping her lotus-clad feet, with the tinkling sound of bells around her ankles.
