Chapter 1440: Chapter 1443: Even Frank Chamberlain cannot be compared with Aidan Lucas
"Miss Coldwell, the Marshal is still waiting to see you, let’s go."
A military officer, standing beside them, quietly interrupted the confrontation between Hannah Ford and Lily.
The officer was tall and dressed in a crisp black military uniform, with the brim of his cap pulled low, his eyes hidden.
His tone didn’t cater to please; rather, it was neither humble nor arrogant.
"I know, waiting a bit longer won’t hurt," Hannah replied irritably.
Now as Miss Coldwell, she had such a distinguished status and certainly wanted to flaunt her power in front of Lily, this despicable woman.
She hadn’t boasted enough yet; what was the hurry?
"Miss Coldwell, the Marshal doesn’t like to wait," the officer stepped forward, reminding her again.
His tone was even firmer than before.
It seemed that he didn’t care about Hannah’s status at all.
"You..." Hannah almost swore.
She didn’t expect that even a mere military officer would dare to talk back to her.
"Miss Hannah, let’s go first. The Marshal is eager to see you probably because he is worried about you; you are his treasure. It would be good to let him see you sooner to ease his mind."
Frank Chamberlain’s lawyer tried to calm things down, and that finally made Hannah feel a bit better.
She turned to look at Lily, her elongated eyes filled with triumph. "Lily Redington, did you hear that? My father is worried about my safety and eager to see me. I’m off to see him now."
"I don’t have time to play with you now. If you really are capable, I’ll see you at the banquet in three days. Hopefully, I will indeed see you there. I’m looking forward to you calling me ’Hannah Ford’ to my face. Ha... ha ha..."
Hannah laughed coldly and arrogantly, believing that the tone and expression she just used carried a sense of superiority.
Little did she know, her demeanor looked nearly insane to others.
Lily nonchalantly raised an eyebrow.
Hannah snorted and walked past Lily.
As they brushed past each other, she deliberately bumped Lily’s shoulder with her own.
They passed by each other.
"Hmph—"
A barely perceptible grunt escaped from Hannah’s throat.
"Miss Ford, is something wrong?" Lily asked, feigning ignorance.
Hannah, clutching her shoulder, glared at Lily fiercely before leaving without looking back.
Once she had left, David Redington rubbed Lily’s head. "Lily, don’t do that next time."
His Lily was clearly pregnant, yet still so mischievous.
Hannah had bumped into her on purpose, but Lily had deliberately not dodged.
Because Lily knew that Hannah, frail and with a congenital heart condition, not only couldn’t hurt her,
but was very likely to hurt herself instead.
"Okay, I got it, brother. Shall we go now?"
David nodded, instructed Blake Graham to settle the following matters properly, and walked with Lily toward the police station entrance.
As they stepped out of the main hall, they heard Hannah’s coquettish voice coming from the entrance.
"Ethan Wilson... after all these years, we meet again in such circumstances."
Hannah was about to leave the police station just as Aidan Lucas, who had heard the news, arrived.
Their paths crossed right at the entrance—Aidan intended to ignore them and walk in, but Hannah stepped forward, blocking his way.
Hannah looked up affectionately at the man in front of her.
Despite being deeply hurt by this man in the past, he still had an indelible place in her heart.
Even Frank Chamberlain couldn’t quite compare to Aidan Lucas.
