Chapter 585: Chapter 580: Things Remain as They Are, People Do Not - 3
Was it truly just a test back then?
Or was it an uncontrollable desire?
"President Griffith, it’s been a long time since we’ve seen each other. Welcome to the United Kingdom." Immediately after stepping out of the corridor, a warm greeting came. The man has golden-brown hair and blue eyes. This authentic British man is Mr. Louis, who was in charge of Hengyuan Company, previously assigned to Haicheng. Louis is easygoing and doesn’t bother with trivial matters, they both stretched out their hands and engaged in casual conversation.
However, from the crowd accompanying Louis, a slim and bright figure suddenly stepped forward.
That familiar female voice made him question for a moment whether it was an illusion, dismissing it as delusional, "President Griffith, hello."
William Griffith’s hand was still holding Louis’ hand, but he had momentarily stalled. He turned his head and looked at the woman next to Louis.
She was wearing a pure white shirt, layered with a camel-colored cardigan, and linen trousers for women. She looked casual yet sophisticated. But her long, black hair was gone. Instead, there was a short, fresh, and beautiful haircut, gently covering her cheeks and ears. Her complexion was still fair, but the black-framed glasses were replaced with elegant, light purple glasses.
"President Griffith, this is my secretary, Miss Cherish Turner. I suppose I don’t need to introduce her to you?" Louis said with a laugh, releasing his hand.
William Griffith was lost in thought, without a reply.
Cherish Turner stood in front of him, holding a briefcase. She extended her fair, slender hand to him, "President Griffith, it’s been a long time."
William Griffith surprisingly laughed; feelings of awe and confusion concealed his words. He reached out his hand and carefully held hers. Her delicate hand was so soft that he dared not grip too firmly, nor could he linger when his hand withdrew. He hesitated for a moment before replying, "It’s been a long time."
In the distant town of London, in the bustling airport.
Two years after their parting, there she was, appearing unexpectedly in front of him without any warnings.
She smiled at him subtly, that smile could make him lose himself.
As if everything from their past never happened, all she said was that it’s been a long time.
Apparently, acting as if nothing happened is the cruelest strategy.
The car sped away, slowly driving out of the airport.
"President Griffith, which project do you think has more development prospects in the future?" Louis and William Griffith were sitting in the back seat, with Louis speaking confidently. However, William Griffith didn’t hear clearly, he didn’t know what exactly had been said. His mind was already occupied, unable to think about anything else. He could only intuitively respond, nod, or give a perfunctory response.
From this angle, he could glance at her sitting in the passenger seat.
From a 45-degree angle, Cherish sat quietly, looking beautiful. It was a rainy afternoon without sunshine. Yet, she outshone the sun, he had to squint to look straight at her. Suddenly, she moved, he quickly averted his attention, fearing she would notice his gaze.
"President Griffith, how many days are you planning to stay?" Louis asked with a smile.
William Griffith pondered for a moment before replying softly, "One week."
"Then I shall assign a tour guide for President Griffith to visit London!" Louis was checking the schedule; the business meeting lasted a day, starting at ten the next morning and ending at three in the afternoon. He asked William Griffith’s secretary previously, and she said he would stay in the UK for three days. He would arrive the same day, and go back to Haicheng the day after the meeting.
"Good." William Griffith replied with a calm smile, Louis directed his look forward and said, "Secretary Turner, you will be President Griffith’s guide the day after tomorrow, accompanying him to tour London."
Actually, William Griffith is definitely familiar with the major cities in the UK. But now that he agrees, Louis readily agreed. As a host, Louis should offer his hospitality, it is reasonable. Besides, Cherish Turner used to be an employee of Griffith, and more so, William Griffith’s assistant. It’s like taking advantage of an opportunity.
Cherish Turner turned her head to look at them, smiled, and said, "Then I will be President Griffith’s guide the day after tomorrow."
After they arrived at the hotel they were staying at, William Griffith and Louis’ team parted ways.
"President Griffith, see you tomorrow."
"See you tomorrow."
After exchanging greetings, William Griffith slowly walked towards the elevator. The moment he turned around, he saw that slender silhouette following behind a man, leaving quietly. The elevator door closed, the revolving door spun, and Cherish Turner’s smiling face looked a bit stunned, while Louis’ voice came from behind, "Secretary Turner, you must take good care of President Griffith, there must not be any problems."
"Sure, Mr. Louis, please rest assured." Cherish Turner replied softly, all she could see was a thick fog in front of her.
The foggy weather in London also fogged up her heart.
The financial meeting on the following day went smoothly, lasting an entire day, from morning till afternoon.
William Griffith didn’t see Cherish Turner, because the representative of Hengyuan Company attending the meeting was President Smith. After the meeting, people kept inviting him for dinner. CEOs of various companies didn’t forget to build relations at this opportune time. President Smith also uploaded, "President Griffith, I didn’t have a chance to invite you to dinner before. Please give me an opportunity this time."
Under everyone’s gaze, William Griffith went with President Smith.
The restaurant for dinner was handpicked by Louis early on. Thinking that Cherish Turner was going to be William Griffith’s guide tomorrow, he decided to bring her along for dinner. During dinner, the men were toasting each other. Louis said, "Secretary Turner, you used to work at Griffith, and now you meet President Griffith again, quickly propose a toast to President Griffith."
But before Cherish Turner could touch the wine glass, William Griffith blocked her!
