Chapter 534: Chapter 533: Having Nothing at All

Now, he called them friends.

Even though she knew it was casually said, perhaps he just wanted to help extricate her from an awkward situation, which involved lovers, breakup, and being dumped.

However, that made their relationship even more inexplicable.

A phone rang, breaking the silence, boisterously.

Mother Peacock unzipped her handbag, pulled out her phone for a quick look and, without time to say much, glanced at William Griffith and Cherish Turner and left hurriedly. From a distance, it was possible to hear her frantic, annoyed voice urgently calling out, "Daniel..."

Once Mother Peacock had left, Cherish felt uneasy, tightly gripping the hem of her clothes, "I..."

"She has left." William interrupted her again, with a cold remark.

The slightly opened lips of Cherish slowly closed, her gaze turned hazy as she watched him turn and walk steadily towards the hall exit. For a moment, she wanted to chase after him.

But it’s as if her feet had taken root like a tree, unable to move.

Until his figure was engulfed by the sunlight and slowly disappeared from sight.

The Griffith’s exhibition ended successfully, and the media reporters started questioning the exhibition organizer. Cherish was handling some post-exhibition work when she inadvertently looked up, only to find Daniel Peacock standing in front of her. She was taken aback and called out rather awkwardly, "President Peacock."

"For someone nearly destitute, your choices are indeed wise," Daniel Peacock said coldly, so unexpected.

Before she could react, Daniel Peacock turned around and walked towards the other end of the lobby.

Destitute? Cherish didn’t understand what he meant, but she felt vaguely uneasy.

The few remaining days in April passed peacefully, and May arrived in the blink of an eye.

The first day of May was International Labor Day, a day off for the company. When they returned to work the next day, there were discussions among her colleagues in the office. Someone daringly turned on the LCD TV to the financial channel. A piece of news related to Griffith was being broadcast live.

Bright camera flashes, a grand press conference.

William Griffith and Yannis Griffith were seated side by side. The camera suddenly focused on William as he spoke softly into the microphone. But what he said left everyone in stunned silence.

"No way? Is Griffith’s president being replaced?" someone exclaimed.

Cherish, sitting in her seat, froze. She watched him calmly smile in the camera lens, casually walk away from his seat, and no one asked about his whereabouts. The camera then switched to the new president, Yannis Griffith.

The pen in her hand suddenly fell and rolled off the desk onto the floor.

Her heart was hanging in mid-air.

In the LCD screen of the TV, Yannis Griffith was surrounded by a group of media journalists. He extended his hand, just trying to pass the microphone to him. His deep and rich voice came through the speaker, but Cherish couldn’t hear it clearly. She didn’t know what he said at all, just felt a sharp pain in her eardrums, a buzzing sound echoing there.

Why was Griffith’s president suddenly replaced?

How did Yannis Griffith suddenly become president from vice president?

Cherish was filled with too much confusion, but all of that was no longer the point. The key was where he had gone. After leaving the press conference, after the flashes of cameras, where had he gone. Was he with Miss Hall? Or, was he alone?

Her heart felt as if it wasn’t her own.

Beating so anxiously, feeling so restless... wanting to know his whereabouts.

"I got wind of it early this morning, heard that Griffith changed hands! I thought it was a joke! The development of Griffith has been so good these past few years, why would they change hands? Didn’t expect it to be true, this is really strange, I don’t know what their board of directors is thinking!" A male colleague mumbled speculations, ending with a sigh.
