She found out through the call that Cherish had already gotten home, so she hurried there. When she got to the building where Cherish lived and took the elevator upstairs, as the doors opened, she saw Cherish waiting there, smiling at her in greeting.

“Hailey, what brings you here all of a sudden?” Cherish said with a smile, inviting her in to sit.

Hailey looked around and didn’t see Sam Turner, which made her feel a bit disappointed, but she stubbornly didn’t want to let Cherish see her disappointment.

“Feel free to sit, I’ll make some coffee,” Cherish said with an awkward smile, turning to make the drinks.

Hailey puzzledly sat down, watching her make the coffee. Her gaze involuntarily drifted downwards, glancing at Cherish’s stomach. Hesitating, she finally voiced her concern, “Sis, you look a bit pale. Are you feeling unwell?”

Cherish came back to sit beside Hailey after making the coffee, and softly replied, “It’s nothing serious.”

Hailey became even more worried, but didn’t feel comfortable asking directly, so she beat around the bush and asked, “Did you go to the hospital?”

“I did,” Cherish answered truthfully.

“What…what did the doctor say?” Hailey looked incredibly nervous.

Cherish laughed softly and replied, “The doctor told me not to overwork myself and to take care of myself.”

“Overworking leading to exhaustion?” Hailey deliberated for a long time, but she just couldn’t ask the question directly, ‘Are you pregnant?’

Cherish sighed and said somewhat awkwardly, “I have period irregularities.”

Period irregularities? Hailey was incredulous, and, at the same time, relieved. Of course, going to the gynecologist doesn’t necessarily mean pregnancy.

The two of them sat and chatted for a long time, like two sisters. Initially, Cherish was feeling quite depressed, but after talking with Hailey, she felt much better. As Hailey was about to leave, she looked at Cherish and softly said, “Sis, even though I call you ‘sis’, I do hope that you and my brother can be together. But he is, you know, like a stubborn stone. You have to look after yourself more. You can’t forget about your own feelings.”

Hailey took the elevator down. As soon as she got in the car, she made a call to Benjamin Solomon. The call was picked up, but before he could say anything, she smiled and said, “Brother Benjamin, as a man, you really shouldn’t be so nosy! Goodbye!”

“Beep beep beep–” On the other end of the call, there was nothing but the dial tone. The call had obviously been disconnected.

Benjamin frowned. So she wasn’t pregnant? From what Hailey said, it must be true! He descended the stairs, only to run into William Griffith coming from the other direction. The two brothers met but didn’t say much to each other. As they brushed past each other, Benjamin pondered whether or not to say something. But in the end, he decided that since she wasn’t pregnant, it was better to know nothing at all, lest his secretive third brother scheme something against him.

In the study, the old Griffith patriarch, Robert Griffith, had just finished talking to Mason Watson, clearly in a foul mood. Now seeing William, his eyes narrowed. William approached him and said in a stern voice, “Hailey’s birthday is soon, I plan to take her out to celebrate. We’ll be back before twelve, don’t worry.”

“You take her out? That’s exactly why I’m worried!” Robert barked, taking a drag from his pipe.

William knew, as clear as day, that his sister was upset, particularly because he could see that she liked Sam deeply.

“I am merely letting you know, I will still take her,” William’s response was just as firm, making it clear he was only informing him about their plans.

Robert exhaled a puff of smoke, huffed coldly and said, “I can agree.”

“Yannis has too many projects on his hands. There’s a very important phase of the project coming up. You will temporarily take over as deputy general manager,” he said.
