Chapter 386: Chapter 386 Chapter 386: Chapter 386 “Oscar, have you been waiting long?” The female companion naturally walked towards Oscar Winston, gently asking.
Cherish Turner held her drooping hands and casually interlocked them, coming to sit quietly by William Griffith’s side. There was still some distance between them, about one meter. She lowered her head and said nothing.
Oscar gently patted his female companion’s shoulder, and she immediately fell silent. Her peach blossom eyes concealed their brilliance, and she looked at Cherish Turner, introducing herself for the first time, “Miss Turner, I’m Oscar Winston.”
Cherish was confused by his sudden words and nodded toward him. Even though he hadn’t introduced himself, and William hadn’t introduced him either, she had learned his name—Oscar Winston—from his female companion’s call and the waiter’s address.
The female companion stood up, took a business card from her bag, walked back to Cherish Turner, and handed it to her.
Cherish took the business card and saw the black ink on the gold-plated card. She exclaimed, “So, Mr. Winston is a lawyer.”
The female companion couldn’t help but be surprised. How could she not know the globally top-ten ranked gold-medal attorney and the wealthy political tycoon?
Oscar didn’t mind and finally spoke seriously, “If you ever need to go to court, you can find me. I won’t charge you any fees.”
Cherish smiled, understanding he was joking. She held his business card, glanced sideways at William Griffith beside her. She suddenly remembered, back in Paris, France, he hadn’t introduced his friend either. She carefully pinched the corner of the business card, fearing she might wrinkle it.
“Mr. Winston, where do you live now?”
“River City.”
“Inland?”
“If you have time to visit, have William bring you over.”
As they chatted and laughed, time passed quickly, and the dinner was finished at the clubhouse. Night fell, and the female companion suggested playing a four-player card game.
Cherish couldn’t help but frown and said hesitantly, “I’m not very good at it.”
“It’s alright. You’re teaming up with William anyway. If it comes to dragging him down, I think he won’t mind.” Oscar laughed charmingly, his words suggestive.
Cherish pressed her lips together awkwardly, her face slightly red.
Four-player poker began, two people were grouped together.
Oscar and his female companion played very smoothly, and they almost won every game, except for a few lucky ones. Several bottles of alcohol were already arranged on the table—XO strong liquor. For each lost round, a glass had to be drunk as a penalty. These bottles of alcohol were almost all consumed by William Griffith.
In the end, both of them dropped out, and Oscar, with his female companion in his embrace, left the private room and headed to their suite to rest.
William picked up the glass, intending to drink. Cherish hurriedly stopped him and grabbed the glass. “William Griffith, you’ve drunk too much. Let me help you go to sleep.”
Cherish struggled to help William up and, after asking the waiter, finally entered the suite.
They stumbled into the bedroom in darkness, and William fell onto the bed at once. She turned on the bedside lamp, and the dim light shone on his handsome face. Perhaps because of the excessive alcohol, his eyes were hazy and unclear. Cherish had never seen him drunk before; this was the first time.
With half-lidded eyes, he murmured to her, “Cherish, help me undress.”
Cherish hesitated, but his large hand had already caught her small one, pressing it onto his burning chest. He closed his eyes, long eyelashes covering his eyelids, casting fan-shaped shadows. Seeing his knitted brow, as if he was very upset, she hesitated for a moment and said softly, “Let go of my hand, and I’ll help you undress.”
As expected, William let go of her hand, obediently like a child.
