Chapter 325 - 325 325 In Those Fleeting Old Days
Chapter 325: Chapter 325: In Those Fleeting Old Days… Chapter 325: Chapter 325: In Those Fleeting Old Days… Kyoto City, on a warm and sunny afternoon in early spring, Cherish Turner was sweating slightly from the back of her shirt after running errands.
She had already explored the area and found the old address of the Turner Clan, but the place had changed a lot. The towering office building was no longer the Turner Clan’s, but had been divided among several small and medium-sized enterprises, forming a co-rented office space.
Tanigawa had been accompanying Cherish all the way, feeling that a girl needed someone to protect her when she was out and about.
Cherish had previously learned about the address of the person in charge of a bankrupt company that had worked with the Turner Clan back then, and she planned to go there to ask about the events that had happened to the Turner Clan.
Cherish was sitting in the backseat of the sedan, holding a notebook, which contained the person’s address, contact information, and some fragmented information about the Turner Clan from old newspapers. However, it was incomplete. The hustle and bustle of the past few days had left her exhausted. She turned her head to look out the window, squinting her eyes against the bright sunlight, unable to open them fully.
At that moment, Tanigawa’s mobile phone rang. Without looking, he knew it must be his mother calling from Japan, probably on the verge of losing her temper!
“Tanigawa, your phone is ringing.”
“Ignore it. I don’t want to disturb your rest. I’ll mute it.”
“You should answer it. You’ve been in Kyoto City for a few days, your mother must be worried.”
When Cherish thought of Tanigawa’s mother, an odd feeling came over her, a sense of familiarity that she couldn’t quite place.
Tanigawa missed his mother as well, so he finally answered the call.
On the other end, his mother didn’t urge him to return urgently but asked him where he was.
Tanigawa replied in Japanese, and there was silence on the other end.
Lady Lottie, sitting on the tatami in her courtyard, looked out the window and began to reminisce. Many years ago, she had been in Kyoto City, where she had met a man who could never be with her in this lifetime.
Those fleeting moments from the past hid her youth and her feelings, so when she heard the name of the city, Lady Lottie’s eyes became a little moist.
“Mom? Are you listening?”
Tanigawa asked, glancing at his phone, which showed full signal strength.
“Oh… I’m listening. When you’re done playing outside, come back, or your dad will be angry!”
“I’m not coming back; I’m staying in Kyoto City with Cherish.” He let his excitement get the better of him, inadvertently revealing his plans, but immediately regretted it after he said it.
Lady Lottie naturally heard everything, and when she thought of Miss Turner, whom she had met once, her heartstrings were touched once again.
Cherish noticed her name in Tanigawa’s Japanese conversation and couldn’t help but look at him curiously, but he quickly hung up.
Suddenly she said, “Tanigawa, thank you for accompanying me.”
After all, she was a girl, and having Tanigawa by her side made her feel safer.
Cherish pursed her lips and saw the faint reflection in the car window. It was her reflection. The eyes were filled with not only loneliness but also expectation, eager to know more, those secrets that only a few people knew, about her buried past.
Tanigawa looked at the back of her head, and when she couldn’t see him, he smiled faintly and said softly, “Fool.”
He thought, why couldn’t you be a little smarter, Cherish?
No, it’s better for you to be a little foolish, at least that way, I can still linger by your side…
