Chapter 205 - 205 205 A Pair of Beautiful Shadows

Chapter 205: Chapter 205: A Pair of Beautiful Shadows Chapter 205: Chapter 205: A Pair of Beautiful Shadows Early the next morning, after arguing with Tanigawa Kenichi for an entire morning, Cherish Turner stubbornly decided that she wouldn’t stay in the hospital today no matter what. She wanted to be discharged because she had to find William Griffith and get some answers.

“Alright, wait here, and I’ll go talk to the attending physician. If it’s possible, I’ll help you with the discharge process.”

Upon hearing this, Cherish softened her attitude.

After he left, she changed into the clothes Tanigawa Kenichi had prepared for her, put on her coat, and went to the hallway to wait for him.

She had been cooped up in the hospital room all night and wanted to get some fresh air. She had her phone with her, so if he returned to the hospital room, he could naturally give her a call.

It wasn’t Cherish’s first time at Haicheng People’s Hospital. Sam Turner had also been treated here when he injured his leg. The floor-to-ceiling windows in the staircase offered a view of the hospital’s beautiful garden and the central fountain. At least, on such a cold and chilly spring morning, it could add a touch of brightness to her gloomy heart.

However, following the expansive view offered by the floor-to-ceiling windows, the sight of a couple by the central fountain caught her attention.

She could tell who the man was just by looking at his back, let alone the fact that he was now facing her, his gaze fixed on a girl in a wheelchair not far away from Cherish.

Cherish then saw him place the thick shawl in his hand on the girl’s shoulders, his movements gentle, so gentle that Cherish’s heart ached.

Had William ever treated her like this? Cherish searched her memory repeatedly, but it seemed that he hadn’t.

As for the girl, Cherish had seen her more than once.

She had the same features as Cherish but a more gentle and captivating smile.

Her heart felt hollow, and the pain made it hard for Cherish to breathe. She leaned against the corner, stealing glances at them while clutching her chest.

Tears were already swirling in her eyes, but she still tried to convince herself over and over again that she was mistaken. William couldn’t bear to treat her like this, could he?

In her desperation to prove herself wrong, she pulled her phone out of her coat pocket, trembling as she swiped the screen and dialed William’s number.

The call connected, and Cherish took a deep breath, holding the phone to her ear. She then turned to face the window, carefully watching William’s actions outside.

Her eyes were full of anticipation and disappointment.

In the morning light, William noticed the incoming call and seemed to hesitate for a moment. Maybe it was because of the distrust in Cherish’s eyes at the moment; she couldn’t see the flicker of excitement on his face.

He probably signaled to the girl beside him, then walked a little farther away before answering the phone.

“Cherish!”

Her dislike for this nickname intensified once again, her fingertips turning white as she gripped her phone. Biting her lip, she tried to muster up her usual bright tone:

“Oh, it’s nothing, just wanted to call and ask what you’re up to.” She forced a smile, unable to hide the sadness in her eyes.

“I…” William almost told Cherish what he was doing at that moment, but then he thought of Julian Brown’s words and swallowed his initial response, saying instead, “Well, I just got to the office. I’ve been pretty busy lately, but once I get through this, I’ll come to Japan to see you as soon as possible.”

He was indeed very busy – busy rekindling his past relationships, busy deceiving her in every possible way.
