Chapter 1199: Chapter 1198: Going with the Flow

Weisser was scrutinizing Li Wei, only to find that Li Wei showed no sign of evasion, greeting his gaze with composure and confidence.

Weisser’s eyes showed a hint of admiration and he didn’t press further, “That’s all there is.”

“We’ve assigned a personal butler for you, responsible for your entire itinerary here in Las Vegas. Anything— and I mean anything, you can ask him directly.”

“Lastly, I hope you enjoy your journey here.”

Weisser spoke as he stepped aside to make way, with the gentleman in a suit who had greeted at the airport stepping forward to bow and greet courteously.

After confirming that Li Wei had no further instructions, the gentleman in the suit left with Weisser and the other entourage members turned away, retreating like the ebbing tide.

In the end, only Li Wei and Hamilton remained.

Li Wei looked at Hamilton with a face full of anticipation, “Am I overthinking it? It seemed like Weisser was hinting at something when he said anything.”

Hamilton rolled his eyes speechlessly, “Hey, your football team’s away trips are probably much wilder, don’t pretend you don’t know.”

Li Wei rubbed his chin, appearing as though in thought, “Ah, I definitely can’t let the coach know; I never thought Formula One was such a dangerous sport.”

Seeing Li Wei’s earnest yet joking demeanor, Hamilton couldn’t help himself, “God, do you even have time to think about these things right now?”

“I’ve been giving you signals the whole time, my mouth and cheeks are cramping, didn’t you notice?”

“How could you just agree to it directly? You should have pushed it onto your agent.”

“Man, what’s the point of an agent? They’re designed to take the blame or act as a buffer. You just need to pass it off to your agent, and the rest will be taken care of.”

“He knows these things too well, but he bypassed your agent to ask you directly in an attempt to find a loophole. You’re still too young.”

Hamilton shook his head continuously, a look of lament on his face.

“Otherwise, you could call your agent now, explain the situation, after all you haven’t signed anything yet, everything can still be salvaged.”

Li Wei looked at Hamilton, who was spewing words at full speed, with a smile on his lips, “And then?”

Hamilton was stunned, “What do you mean, and then?”

Li Wei, “I call my agent, and then what? Get the agent to refuse?”

Hamilton: …

Li Wei, “What I mean is, what are they trying to pursue? Do they want me to strut around on camera? Or get interviewed in the Mercedes-Benz garage? Or perhaps have me personally experience a Formula One car?”

“I’m a football player, purely a spectator here, no different from models walking on a catwalk then turning around and leaving.”

“I believe the Netflix production team probably hasn’t figured out how to fit a football player into a Formula One documentary.”

“The most likely scenario is curiosity, expecting an unexpected event or surprise, even if they haven’t figured out what this means yet; they’ll just film it first and think about it in post-production.”

Hamilton’s words rolled around on his tongue, “But… you don’t need to go along with it. In fact, you can totally refuse to cooperate.”

Li Wei nodded, “Of course, one hundred percent, I know my rights.”

“But what makes you think I want to refuse?”

Hamilton, “Huh?”

The thought processes, completely unable to keep up with Li Wei’s pace.

Li Wei chuckled lightly, “This time in London, I deeply realized the importance of expanding crossover influence, not only to raise funds for the foundation, but also to have more options when trying other fields in the future.”

“Relying solely on football, after all, is limited in influence.”

“I need to seize opportunities to break down barriers between different sports and even different fields.”

Hamilton widened his eyes, nearly choking on his own saliva, “You mean, they’re planning to use you, but you’re planning to use them too?”

No wonder!

So straightforward, Li Wei appeared particularly calm and composed.

Then, Li Wei added, “Moreover, as you said, I haven’t signed any agreement yet, I can ask them to remove my footage whenever I like.”

“To me, I’m just a guest, one of the millions of viewers, unless tomorrow I have a big fight with a driver in the garage, Netflix wouldn’t insist on keeping my footage.”

This time, Hamilton was truly surprised, not expecting that Li Wei had a backup plan.

Li Wei, “Don’t worry, I’ll call my agent later, explain the situation here, give him time for planning and adjustments, prepare for multiple scenarios.”

No matter what, it’s necessary to prepare multiple plans.

Hamilton realized, “No wonder you agreed without hesitation, presenting a cooperative stance, giving the brand a favor. Mercedes-Benz must like your attitude very much.”

Li Wei shrugged lightly, “I just noticed his wording, Mercedes-Benz garage is not open to Netflix, right? That shows your cooperation with Netflix is limited, as an outsider appearing in the footage, I’m probably just there for a staged appearance, no need to worry too much.”

Hamilton slightly opened his mouth, finally chuckling, “So, did I look like an idiot just now?”

Li Wei sincerely, “A kind idiot.”

Hamilton, “Haha, at least the adjective is positive.”

Pulling his expression back a little, Li Wei gave Hamilton a longer look, “Thank you. Thank you for your earlier reminder.”

So solemn, Hamilton instead appeared slightly restrained, “So formal? It’s no big deal, you’ve already thought it all through yourself, I was just worrying unnecessarily.”

Li Wei displayed a smile, “The point is, how many people are willing to mind the business of a stranger they just met for less than three minutes now? I don’t plan to gratefully hug you, but at least, a thank you isn’t too much.”

A small quip, eased the atmosphere, Hamilton also joined in a hearty laugh, “I guess you’re quite adept in the NFL, huh? Unlike me, when I first entered Formula One, I ran into a lot of trouble, charging around recklessly.”

Li Wei sized up Hamilton for a moment, pondering, “Hmm… if you were as arrogant before, it’s definitely imaginable.”

Hamilton raised his hand and gave Li Wei a punch on the shoulder, “Hey!”

Li Wei burst into laughter.

In reality, Hamilton didn’t need to meddle, after all, he and Li Wei had only met a few times, not very acquainted, there was no need for him to oppose his own team for Li Wei, not to mention, as Li Wei said, the Netflix production team might only be shooting a few clips, which they might not even use in the end.

However, Hamilton still unhesitatingly reminded Li Wei.

It can be called meddling; but from another angle, it could be considered friendship.
