Chapter 119: Chapter 119: Should Not Let That Man Go Ahead
Xiaoxiao looked at her surprise, confused and asked, "What’s wrong, Gigi?"
Gu Qimiao concealed her thoughts and awkwardly smiled, "It’s nothing..."
Xiaoxiao is Shen Yanchen’s younger sister. Naturally, she couldn’t share her concerns with Xiaoxiao. Those were secrets she wished to announce to the world but didn’t dare to speak out.
"Knock knock—you two, what are you doing in there? It’s been almost an hour." Fang Shaobei’s urging sounded from outside the door.
Xiaoxiao hurriedly cleaned off the bubbles on her body and changed into clean clothes.
As soon as she stepped out, Fang Shaobei handed her the phone, "Your big brother called you."
Xiaoxiao took the phone, mumbling as she dialed back, "I’m definitely going to get scolded again."
Just as expected, when the call connected, Shen Yanchen coldly questioned, "Your teacher said you haven’t attended any classes today."
Xiaoxiao, seemingly experienced, pinched her nose to create a heavy nasal sound, "I caught a cold today."
"Why not stay in the dorm if you have a cold?"
Xiaoxiao pursed her lips, thinking nothing could be hidden from her older brother, yet she still chose to struggle, "I went outside to buy medicine."
"Going out in such heavy rain to buy medicine? Are you not sick enough?"
Gu Qimiao could vaguely hear from the side, softly smiling. If she could be cared for and nagged like this, she would likely feel very happy.
Xiaoxiao made up a few excuses but couldn’t keep the lie and finally confessed, "I’m at Gigi’s place and I’ll go back to class soon."
Only then did Shen Yanchen stop questioning her. Xiaoxiao had to rush back to attend a class, the rain was pouring, so Fang Shaobei drove her. Before leaving, Xiaoxiao held Gu Qimiao’s hand, saying, "Gigi, accompany me to buy gifts tomorrow."
Gu Qimiao thinking she also needed to buy something for Shen Yanchen, agreed, "Okay."
The rain didn’t stop all afternoon, accompanied by thunder and lightning.
It was five-thirty, and Gu Qimiao was stuck in the office, pondering how to get back when the phone rang with a "ding-ding" inside the room.
Just as she picked up her phone, Fang Shaobei also walked in.
Gu Qimiao gestured that she’d answer a call first, and Fang Shaobei nodded in agreement.
However, once she spoke, he regretted it.
"Brother Yan Chen, what’s up?"
Fang Shaobei sighed, feeling he shouldn’t have let that man get ahead.
"Done with work?" His tone was casual, as if a husband asking his wife after being married for years.
"...Yes, I’m done, but..."
Before she finished, Shen Yanchen interrupted, "Wait there, I’m coming soon."
With that, the call ended with a "beep" sound.
Gu Qimiao put down the phone, thinking about him coming to pick her up, she couldn’t help but feel secretly happy. Due to Fang Shaobei’s presence, she hid her joy, asking him, "Mr. Fang, anything you need?"
Fang Shaobei smiled, initially wanting to offer to take her home, but now it seemed unnecessary. He then said, "Just reminding you not to forget to submit your draft tomorrow."
Gu Qimiao smiled and pointed at her desk, "I finished drawing it this afternoon!"
"That’s good. Study the software diligently, ask me if you don’t understand anything." Turning around, the smile on his face turned bitter as he closed the door to her studio and walked out.
About five minutes after the call, Shen Yanchen’s car stopped downstairs.
This was the first time Gu Qimiao was in the same car with him after that awkward day.
Sitting in the car, Gu Qimiao awkwardly tried to start a conversation, "The rain is really heavy."
He merely replied with a lukewarm "Hmm," then started the car.
Gu Qimiao glanced at him, not knowing what to say further, so she turned her head to look out the window, hiding her unease.
The sound of rain pattering was rather calming, suddenly Gu Qimiao felt a warm flow from her lower body, and then she stiffened.
Did... it come?
She remembered it should be at the beginning of the month, maybe today’s rainwater triggered it?
No matter the reason, her period had arrived, and the worst part was she was wearing a light-colored skirt...
