Chapter 153 I Trust Boss Lu’s Integrity—He Has a Conscience!

“Additives?”

Customers who had bought food from Liu Ji froze, then quickly panicked.

“Boss Lu, don’t scare me like that!”

“No way… Are you serious? Damn!”

All eyes turned to Lu Qin.

He was dead serious—this was no joke. Next to him, little Lu Xiyao looked up, her big eyes blinking in confusion. She didn’t fully understand, but she got the gist.

The food from that other shop had bad stuff in it.

So scary!

She made up her mind—she’d never eat food from outside again. Only Daddy’s cooking was safe!

Lu Qin never cared much about competition. But food safety? That was another matter. He had to let everyone know the truth. Zhou Weiwei was the first to react, his chubby face turning red with anger.

“I knew there was something wrong with Liu Ji’s food! I was wondering how it tasted so close to Boss Lu’s—turns out, they cheated with technology!”

Some customers were skeptical.

“Boss Lu, do you have X-ray vision or something? How can you tell just by looking?”

“Come on, Boss Lu is a professional! Experts can spot things we regular folks can’t.”

Lu Qin had always been known as a reliable and honest businessman. Most people trusted him.

“Boss Lu, explain it to us! How did you figure this out?”

Curious, the customers gathered around. Lu Qin handed out three packed orders, turned off the stove, and took two minutes to explain.

“I didn’t even need to taste it. I could tell from the color and the smell.”

“For example, this stir-fried rice noodle dish…”

He picked up the portion from Liu Ji and separated the noodles with chopsticks.

“The color is darker than it should be. That’s not from soy sauce—it’s from an additive called Dichlorvos.”

“What’s that?”

Some customers had never heard of it.

“Dichlorvos is a chemical additive. When mixed into flour, it makes noodles appear whiter, improves texture, and extends shelf life.”

“Some unethical vendors use it to cut costs by buying cheap, chemically treated noodles and rice.”

The crowd’s expressions shifted from concern to outrage.

“Damn! Even stir-fried noodles aren’t safe!”

“These shady vendors will do anything for profit!”

“I can’t believe this! What the hell are we even eating?”

Someone quickly googled it.

“Holy sh*t! At temperatures above 60°C, Dichlorvos breaks down into harmful chemicals—formaldehyde, sulfur dioxide, hydrogen sulfide! It can cause headaches, fatigue, loss of appetite, and even nasopharyngeal cancer!”

The moment the word cancer came up, the customers freaked out. Especially those who had already eaten at Liu Ji—their faces turned pale.

“I’M CALLING THE POLICE!”

“That Liu Ji owner is a criminal! This is insane!”

Lu Qin took another sniff and continued analyzing.

“This stir-fried rice noodle dish also has artificial flavor enhancers—specifically, concentrated umami powder.”

“Normally, chefs use things like MSG and oyster sauce to enhance flavor, but no natural seasoning can make food this intensely flavorful.”

“The overpowering umami completely masks the taste of the rice noodles themselves.”

“Consuming too much of this stuff makes you thirsty.”

At this, someone slapped their thigh.

“Yes! I ate Liu Ji’s noodles earlier, and my throat got insanely dry—I drank a whole bottle of water, but it didn’t help!”

The anger in the crowd exploded.

“No wonder the food tasted too good to be true! That bastard dumped a ton of artificial enhancers!”

“I was wondering how his food was nearly as good as Boss Lu’s—turns out, it’s just a bunch of chemical tricks!”

Lu Qin glanced at the chili peppers in the dish and shook his head.

“The spiciness is too intense—they must’ve added capsaicin extract.”

“Wait, what?! Even the chili is fake!”

“This is next-level fraud! The Liu Ji owner deserves jail time!”

“I ate his stir-fried noodles, mung bean dessert, and twice-cooked pork—do I need to go to the hospital?”

“This is terrifying! I don’t think I’ll ever eat at street stalls again!”

“Boss Lu is the only one I trust. I saw him at the market once—he only buys fresh ingredients. He won’t even touch low-quality ones!”

“I believe in Boss Lu’s character—he has a conscience!”

“LET’S GO CONFRONT THAT SCUMBAG!”

“YEAH! DESTROY HIS SHOP!”

“Call food safety authorities—get this place shut down!”

A group of furious customers stormed out of the alley, heading straight for Liu Ji’s snack shop. Meanwhile, those who stayed loyal to Lu Qin’s stall stood tall, feeling like victors.

See? We told you so. Boss Lu’s name is golden for a reason!

But soon, the angry mob returned.

“Boss Lu, we need solid evidence—Liu Ji might deny everything if we just accuse him. How do we prove it?”

The place was packed—some customers had come straight from Lu Qin’s.

“Boss Lu’s twice-cooked pork is still better—this one’s too greasy. But whatever, it’s edible.”

“The crystal cake is nothing like Lu Qin’s—it lacks that unique richness. A knockoff will always be a knockoff.”

“It’s one yuan cheaper? Who do they think they’re fooling? If this tasted like Lu Qin’s, I’d gladly pay ten yuan more!”

“This owner has zero hygiene. He doesn’t even wear a mask! I just saw him smoking in the back!”

“The shop is full, though.”

“These people probably have never tried Lu Qin’s food. They think this is good—I can’t stop laughing!”

“I’m never coming back. My wife can settle for less—I won’t compromise on good food!”

____

10 minutes later, a mob of angry customers stormed Liu Ji’s shop. Two of them had their phones recording from their shirt pockets. Another had already called food safety authorities.

Catching a fraud needs hard proof. They had planned their strategy on the way over.

Step one: Obtain evidence.

Step two: Expose the fraud.

Four people entered first.

Liu Ji wiped his hands and came over.

“What’ll you have?”

“Two stir-fried rice noodles, two crystal cakes.”

“Also, we want a raw portion of rice noodles, to take home and cook ourselves.”

Seeing them pay first, Liu Ji didn’t suspect a thing. He bagged up the raw noodles and brought them out. The entire process was recorded.

The four customers nodded subtly—Step One: Success. Then, they signaled the rest of the group.

BOOM.

A wave of people flooded into the shop. Liu Ji’s gut twisted. He turned off the stove and stepped out.

“What’s going on? What do you want?”

Someone stepped forward.

“We’re here for JUSTICE.”

“We’re here to EXPOSE YOU.”

“We’re here to BLOW YOUR FRAUD WIDE OPEN!”
