Chapter 695: Chapter 693: Advancing through Retreat, Go with the Flow (Please subscribe! Vote for me!)

A group of people were chattering about it, and of course, many were simply taking pleasure in the misfortune of others.

After all, Bai Yaning was recognized as the foremost beauty of the Heavenly People’s Republic, born into the Bai family, beautiful and without any rumors of scandal; such a woman was the dream lover of all men. And to think that such a fairy-like person was taken by a common wild boar, whoever heard it would probably be full of disbelief and then, upon confirming the facts, consumed with wild jealousy.

Just as they were discussing, Fang Wenbin, supporting the Great Elder, walked over. Fang Wenbin could tell by the expression on these guys’ faces what they were thinking; he scoffed coldly and said, "What are you all talking about here? You’ve got nothing better to do after eating your fill? Get back to what you should be doing!"

Fang Wenbin had recently become the favorite of the Great Elder. He was the investor behind the movie War Wolf, which had earned over a billion in net profits, with a total investment of less than thirty million. It was nothing short of a myth.

So, his words carried a lot of weight among the younger generation in the family. Seeing him angry, the group of people immediately dispersed like birds and beasts.

"These guys, all they do is gossip every day," Fang Wenbin huffed and said, "Grandpa, let’s not bother with them. I reckon Brother Hao should be done eating by now. Let’s go and invite him out to have a look."

"En, alright," Fang Huai De nodded gently. He had basically only heard about Wang Hao, but the profits from War Wolf were there for all to see. As the saying goes: "Hearing isn’t as good as seeing." Fang Huai De placed great importance on Wang Hao.

The two of them then entered the restaurant where Wang Hao and the others were. But as soon as he walked in, Fang Wenbin sensed something off about the atmosphere.

"Brother Hao, what’s going on?" Fang Wenbin helped the Great Elder to sit down and then walked over to Wang Hao, whispering, "Why does the atmosphere seem a bit off?"

"Oh, it’s nothing," Wang Hao smiled and sipped his congee, saying, "Just ran into an old acquaintance, so I just greeted him."

"An old acquaintance?" Fang Wenbin looked at the others in the room and couldn’t figure out who among these old timers could be Wang Hao’s acquaintance. But since Wang Hao didn’t elaborate, Fang Wenbin didn’t probe further, smiled, and asked, "How’s the meal? Shall we get going?"

"Sure," Wang Hao nodded, "then let’s go."

As they were about to leave, Lin Shengyun obviously felt slighted and huffed heavily.

"Great Elder," Lin Shengyun spoke coolly, "before coming here I thought this might be quite a tricky matter. But now it seems that since you’ve already found another expert, I might as well leave and avoid being tied down here."

As soon as he said this, Fang Huai De was alarmed and said, "What are you talking about, Saint Yun Venerable? The fact that you came to help out this time, I am deeply grateful. But how can you just leave like this?"

"Sigh, actually, before coming I had intended to help out of respect for your sincerity," Lin Shengyun pointed at Wang Hao and said, "But this young fellow here claims to be a Feng Shui Master, and I truly feel embarrassed to be associated with him. Great Elder, look, all the people here are influential in our circle; any one of them taken out would be Master level. It wouldn’t harm the reputation to show off a bit in front of my colleagues, but to include such a youngster... Great Elder, I’m really powerless here."

He was making a tactical retreat to provoke a challenge, aiming to persuade the Great Elder to send Wang Hao away and embarrass him.

The circle of Feng Shui consultants was neither small nor big, and if they ostracized Wang Hao today, needless to say, he would find it difficult to make a living from this in the future.

"This..." Indeed, as Lin Shengyun spoke, the Great Elder hesitated.

In the circle of Feng Shui consultants, seniority was highly valued. Although Fang Huai De was indeed very optimistic about Wang Hao, even having personally flown in a helicopter to invite him in the middle of the night, now that the Saint Yun Venerable had spoken, he was indeed hesitant.

Who was the Saint Yun Venerable? A recognized authority in the circle, his title Venerable was not something an ordinary Master could match.

And to be frank, Wang Hao seemed more like an enthusiast for Feng Shui, without even a name in the circle.

So, for a moment, Fang Huai De found it hard to decide.

"What you’re saying isn’t right, Saint Yun Venerable," but then, Fang Wenbin spoke up, "We came here to save my sister Xiao Xue. It doesn’t seem proper for you to talk about leaving halfway..."

"What about it?" Lin Shengyun snorted coldly, "I really have no interest in rescuing people in front of outsiders."

Watching the tense atmosphere unfold, Wang Hao suddenly wanted to laugh.

Lin Shengyun’s tactic of withdrawing to advance was kind of clumsy, but he really didn’t care one bit.

Do you really think you’re someone important? With those few tricks your disciple pulled, Brother doesn’t even bother commenting, and there you are, putting on airs?

"Oh c’mon, Great-grandpa, it’s really not that big of a deal," Wang Hao said with a chuckle as he winked directly at Fang Huai De. "Since the Saint Yun Venerable wants to leave, there’s no need to make it difficult. Worst comes to worst, I’ll put in a little more effort for Sister Xiao Xue and help her through the tough time. That’s all."

As soon as he said that, Bai Yaning almost couldn’t hold back on the side.

This guy was truly too bad, turning a strategic retreat into an advantage, and now that the Saint Yun Venerable couldn’t step down from his position. After all, he had already announced his intention to leave, and now Wang Hao had effectively said, "if you want to leave, then go ahead." Now, the one in a bind was him.

"Do you really have confidence?" Fang Huai De was now anxious and concerned, and with his age, he genuinely cared for his little great-granddaughter, which was why he wavered so much.

Otherwise, with the skills that allowed him to establish the Fang family from scratch, wouldn’t others be seeking their own doom by playing such games with him?

"I’m sure!" Wang Hao nodded firmly. He then looked toward the Saint Yun Venerable with a smile and extended his hand. "Alright, Saint Yun Venerable, I’ll take this job. When do you plan to return? Shall I have someone fly you back with a helicopter?"

"You little brat, you!" Lin Shengyun’s face turned the color of a pig’s liver. He had just arrived by helicopter today, and he hadn’t even eaten breakfast yet. If he were to fly back right away, wouldn’t that make him a joke among his peers? He couldn’t leave now even if he wanted to!

But after all, he was a sly old fox, quick-witted indeed.

The old fellow quickly came up with a retort and suddenly chuckled. "How can I be at ease with you handling it? You’re not even fully-grown. What if something goes wrong? But since you said you could treat her, I’m actually not in such a hurry to leave. I really do want to see how you’re going to treat her!" He stood up as he spoke and turned to Fang Huai De. "Great Elder, since this young man has taken the job, I, at least as a member of the circle, must ensure the girl’s safety. Shall we set off?"

Fang Wenbin and Wang Hao exchanged a look and shared a chuckle.

This old man’s skin was indeed thick enough. He probably realized it wasn’t going to be so easy to drive Wang Hao away, so he had to settle for defeating him on professional terms.

"Brother Hao, are you really confident?" Fang Wenbin asked quietly. "Sister Xiao Xue’s beauty goes without saying, and she has a great personality, too. She’s my great-grandpa’s favorite little girl. If anything happens to her, this wouldn’t be just a game!"

"Don’t worry," Wang Hao patted his hand. "I can’t say 100%, but I am definitely better than whatever Saint Yun Venerable is. You don’t have to worry about that."

Now that the decision was made, everyone prepared to depart.

Fang Huai De slowly stood up. Bai Yaning was Wang Hao’s girlfriend, and in times like these, she played the role of a good wife and helper—she walked over and supported Fang Huai De’s arm, speaking softly, "Take it easy, Great-grandpa."

"Yes, good girl!" Fang Huai De was very gratified, growing fonder of Bai Yaning every time he looked at her. "Ah, it’s a pity my Wen Bin doesn’t have this luck, but no matter. Little Haozi is not bad either. If you two are doing well, that’s enough for us old bones."

Wang Hao listened on the side, grinning from ear to ear. This old man’s temperament really suited his taste!

"Let’s go, Xiao Xue isn’t around here," Fang Huai De said as he walked out leaning on his cane. "Ever since her incident, she’s been living in that little village. Let’s get on the plane, and we’ll be there in half an hour."

The group then boarded the plane.

Isn’t it just great to have money? If they traveled by car, aside from other hassles, just the traffic jam from this place to the highway would take an hour. But by flying directly in a helicopter, it was indeed just half an hour, and they arrived at a small town in the south of the Central Sea, surrounded by lush mountains. The place was so remote that Wang Hao had to zoom in the map to its largest scale to find Yangjiao Village.

On the way, Fang Wenbin gave a brief introduction to the place. It didn’t have much of a history; the only thing worth mentioning was that it was where Fang Huai De came from, so naturally, when looking for the ancestral grave, they came here.

The helicopter soon landed on an open field near the village, where villagers had been waiting. Upon seeing the group, they immediately came forward.

"Old Master," a villager spoke in a lowered voice, "you’re here. Old Master Fang has been waiting in the room."

"Ah, my poor Xiao Xue," sighed Fang Huai De with a tone of deep sorrow, trembling as he walked, "How is the girl doing now... is she alright?"

"For now, her condition is stable," the villager replied. "But she’s very weak. Old Master, you don’t need to worry too much. With so many people you’ve brought this time, we’ll surely cure Xiao Xue."

The group chatted as they walked, entering the village.
