Divine Beast Creator
Chapter 978 - 979

Chapter 978: 979

"Pre-embedding energy and then instantly condensing it into a weapon that explodes at the end?"

Veronia quickly understood how Feng Yuan had executed the attack. He simply took advantage of Spiritual Weaponization’s trait of free control along with precise energy management, using small explosions to launch those weapons.

"What’s the use of..."

Qi Chen watched the daggers stopped by the barrier speechlessly. They seemed pretty cool, but what good was an ultimate move that caused no harm? Feng Yuan smiled mysteriously and said,

"Do you really think you’ve stopped them?"

The next moment, those daggers suddenly turned into beams of light that pierced through the barrier. Sensing something was wrong, Qi Chen awkwardly rolled on the ground to dodge the attack. Feng Yuan turned to salute Qi Chen, then disappeared again in a puff of black smoke.

"This guy..."

Qi Chen helplessly realized that Feng Yuan was also skilled at ambushes. But by repeatedly using the same trick, wasn’t he afraid of someone finding a flaw? Although Qi Chen thought this, he didn’t ponder any further, and once again summoned a vibrant green orb of light. However...

"How is that possible?!"

Qi Chen was stunned for a moment, finding it hard to believe. The shock wave with a fresh scent quickly swept across the Stele area and collided with the Flame Storm; however, Feng Yuan was nowhere to be seen.

While Qi Chen was still dazed, Xiao Ji dived down, engulfed in azure flames, charging toward Ah Mu. Just as Ah Mu summoned root tendrils as a barrier to block Xiao Ji, Feng Yuan, unbeknownst to when, was already standing behind him. Through the thin barrier, Feng Yuan revealed a sinister smile and said,

"You really do... rely too much on the Amu Tree."

Just as Qi Chen was about to employ the same evasive maneuver to dodge Feng Yuan’s attack, he discovered that at some point, the ground beneath him had been stealthily covered with a row of dagger spikes. Feng Yuan paused with his black dagger behind Qi Chen, then withdrew it and said,

"You really can’t depend entirely on the Amu Tree to block attacks for you."

Sighing, Qi Chen looked toward Ah Mu, who was fiercely battling with Xiao Ji. Noticing that the battle seemed determined, Xiao Ji instantly retreated from the fight. Ah Mu looked puzzled as he glanced at Qi Chen, not understanding why the fight had suddenly stopped. Seeing this, Qi Chen gave Ah Mu a wry smile and said,

"Sorry, we’ve lost."

Ah Mu looked at Qi Chen, visibly confused, not grasping what had just happened. Approaching Ah Mu, Qi Chen explained the recent events. The reality was, since Beastmasters were the most vulnerable link, most people tended to adopt a self-protective fighting style. Those like Feng Yuan who could bear weapons at the forefront were, after all, a minority.

"How come you managed to dodge my Energy Impact? Your invisibility shouldn’t allow you to hide within the spatial layers," Qi Chen questioned Feng Yuan, somewhat puzzled. Xiao Ji didn’t possess the spatial attribute, so how could he have hidden in a spatial layer to avoid the ultimate move that would reveal his stealth? Smiling at Qi Chen’s question, Feng Yuan looked at Xiao Ji and said,

"I didn’t hide in the space. I simply hid inside the Flame Storm."

"How is that possible?!"

Qi Chen expressed incredulously. Wasn’t the Flame Storm spread throughout the whole area? How did he manage to conceal himself within the Flame Storm? At that moment, Agunas and Veronia floated over and heard Qi Chen’s words, somewhat helplessly saying,

"He’s telling the truth. There were quite a few gaps within the Flame Storm after your first release of the Energy Impact. It’s just that he controlled the gaps so well that it was hard for you to notice."

Agunas spoke somewhat emotionally, acknowledging Xiao Ji’s combat strength was extraordinary, noting that at this time, he couldn’t pull off such a feat himself. Hearing Agunas’s words, Xiao Ji crowed triumphantly, seemingly very pleased. Feng Yuan patted Xiao Ji’s head and said,

"You and Ah Mu are actually fighting independently and can’t effectively support each other. Don’t talk about commanding. Do you believe that?"

Spirit Beasts aren’t fools, except maybe Pomiti. Otherwise, they can gain abundant combat experience through constant fighting on their own and may not necessarily need humans to command them. At least, there aren’t many Beastmasters who are capable of commanding multiple tamed beasts at the same time; most still let them make their own decisions.

"Want to try again?"

Seeing Qi Chen’s reluctance, Feng Yuan suggested. They were idle anyway, and training now wouldn’t be very meaningful. There were only a few days left until the assessment, and the strength of the beasts couldn’t possibly surge in such a short time. It’d be better to relax and prepare for the crucial academy assessment in the coming days.

"Okay!"

Qi Chen glanced at Ah Mu and responded decisively. Agunas and Veronia stepped aside, and Feng Yuan amusingly woke up Little Ice Cream and said,

"Why don’t you go over there and wait for me?"

Little Ice Cream looked at Feng Yuan, nodded, and scurried towards Agunas with little steps.

"Then let’s get ready~"

"Start!"

As soon as Agunas shouted start, Feng Yuan disappeared again. Ah Mu immediately summoned numerous seeds which burrowed into the ground and sprouted rapidly. In the sky, Xiao Ji, seeing those water-balloon-shaped plants, trumpeted and once again whipped up a Flame Storm. However, the water-balloon-shaped plants seemed to counter the Flame Storm, preventing it from invading the plants’ territory. After raising a Barrier, Qi Chen jumped onto the branches of the Ah Mu Tree and surveyed his surroundings.

"Does standing with Ah Mu mean true cooperative fighting?"

Feng Yuan suddenly spoke, looking at Qi Chen standing below with a smile on his face, holding two daggers in a lazy pose. Qi Chen didn’t respond. He suddenly had a green Longbow in hand, drew it, and shot off an emerald arrow straight at Feng Yuan.

At that, Feng Yuan smiled slightly, dashed forward, his dagger precisely striking the emerald arrow and shattering it. He rolled on the spot and said with some surprise,

"It didn’t explode?"

Just now, he had been prepared for Qi Chen’s arrows to have an explosive effect on breaking, but unexpectedly, Qi Chen hadn’t done that. Was it intentional, or couldn’t he? Feng Yuan wasn’t sure; after all, he hadn’t expected Qi Chen to have the ability for Spiritual Weaponization before either.

Ah Mu slammed his hands on the ground, and numerous Seistal Steles appeared once more. On the ground, vines continually attempted to entwine Feng Yuan, and in the sky, Xiao Ji, seeing that the Flame Storm was still unable to break through the water-balloon plants’ territory, and even gradually dying out under the interference of the Seistal Stele, became anxious and soared upward. Xiao Ji’s body lit up with pale blue flames and dove towards Ah Mu.

"What a mess..."

Feng Yuan, who was hidden and preparing to ambush, said with some speechlessness as he watched Xiao Ji dive straight down. At that moment, Qi Chen drew his Longbow again, and Ah Mu gestured a special sign with his hands. A particular energy was gathering from within the ground. Just as Xiao Ji was halfway through its dive, Qi Chen shot the prepared emerald arrow, which hit Xiao Ji accurately and exploded.

A gust of fresh wind blew through the air, carrying away the pale blue flames from Xiao Ji’s body. Before Xiao Ji could react, the energy stored in the earth drastically changed; huge vines burst from the ground attempting to tightly bind Xiao Ji. Seeing Xiao Ji struggling, and Feng Yuan still nowhere to be seen, Qi Chen became more alert and looked around cautiously. He thought for a moment and released another Energy Impact.

As the Shock Wave ravaged through the area, Qi Chen saw Feng Yuan standing behind a Seistal Stele, apparently preparing to rush toward him, and he sighed in relief. He had been worried that guy was hiding in some strange place, but even after being knocked out of stealth mode, Feng Yuan still had a smile on his face, seemingly unperturbed.

Seeing this, Qi Chen instantly became more guarded. That expression meant Feng Yuan definitely had a backup plan. Seeing several black wolves running around, Qi Chen gently patted Ah Mu and waved towards Xiao Ji.

A green pillar of light descended from the sky and accurately landed on Xiao Ji. Xiao Ji, who had just reignited pale blue flames, was hit by the pillar, extinguishing the flames once again, and the space left by the vines turned to ash by the pale blue flames was quickly refilled by other vines seizing the moment.

"Nice try, but too late."

Feng Yuan said with a smile, and although Ah Mu quickly directed the vines to strike at the black wolves, a few still reached Qi Chen’s side. However, their attack power didn’t seem very strong, and they couldn’t breach Qi Chen’s Barrier.
