Chapter 968: Chapter 969: Paying a Visit
"Speaking of which, the Divine Beast Hall really is..."
Feng Yuan said with a hint of helplessness. Although he hadn’t been fond of the original Divine Beast Hall, after several attempts to reform it, the Divine Beast Hall seemed to be getting more and more off track? However, perhaps it was also related to the Alliance’s relentless pressure, as nobody wanted an existence on equal footing to restrict them.
"It’s understandable but not likable."
Veronia said calmly. As far as she was concerned, as long as the Divine Beast Hall didn’t bother her, she had no desire to deal with whatever that Divine Beast Hall was. Agunas flicked its tail and said,
"I don’t like their attitude, treating Spirit Beasts as tools. Even though they don’t say it outright, but..."
Lying on the Xiao Ji plush, Feng Yuan scratched Xiao Ji’s neck with one hand and drew something in the air with the other as he said,
"There are good and bad people in the Divine Beast Hall, just as there are in the Alliance. It’s just that the complexity of the people inside the Divine Beast Hall makes it seem more severe. But now, do they dare to send someone after me after trying their hand?"
With a smile, Feng Yuan speculated that perhaps the Divine Beast Hall had been losing the struggle against the Alliance, as there had been a number of Divine Beasts appearing recently. The advantage that the Divine Beast Hall held by having a good relationship with many Divine Beasts and overshadowing the Alliance was gradually fading.
"Should we be thankful that those Divine Beasts have ignored the Alliance’s recruitment?"
Swinging his right hand leisurely, Feng Yuan said. Qi Chen glanced at him and remarked,
"Don’t block the walkway with your stuff; you’re almost taking up the whole space."
The chubby Xiao Ji plush squeezed into the space between the two beds, making it difficult for both Qi Chen and Feng Yuan to get out of bed. Lying on the Xiao Ji plush, Feng Yuan waved his hand and said,
"Don’t worry—I’ll pack it up soon."
Hearing Feng Yuan’s words, Qi Chen was reassured. That guy was probably just excited by the novelty and would play with it for a day or two before stuffing it in the cupboard like the Ball Whale plush.
"What’s that guy up to?"
Waking up in the middle of the night, Qi Chen rubbed his eyes and looked curiously at the fluffy black lump outside the window. Soon, a clearer-headed Qi Chen guessed that the black lump was probably Feng Yuan, but what was he doing there? If it weren’t for the tail flickering now and then, Qi Chen wouldn’t even recognize what that was.
"What are you doing..."
Walking to the balcony, Qi Chen asked with some confusion as he looked at the Little Husky sitting on the balcony railing, swinging its tail occasionally. What was he doing out here in the middle of the night without sleeping?
Turning to look at Qi Chen, the Little Husky, gazing at the night school, said,
"Just appreciating our school, after all, we’re about to leave..."
Scratching his head, Qi Chen didn’t quite understand. Veronia, staring at the grove below, said,
"Don’t bother with him, he’ll go back to sleep in a bit. As for you, you don’t have the stamina for staying up all night."
Qi Chen smiled brightly, feeling somehow as though he was deemed a nuisance here. But seeing that Feng Yuan seemed fine, he didn’t think much of it and turned to go back inside.
"If you’re not ready to let go, why not create a dream that never ends?"
Veronia looked at Feng Yuan with some confusion. It knew about such tricks because Feng Yuan had told it, but why hadn’t he done so? Since he knew about this method, it meant he should be capable of using such a technique.
Shaking his tail, the Little Husky put on an appearance of a Husky howling at the moon and said,
"I promised her I wouldn’t do that again..."
With drooping ears, the Little Husky shook its tail and said,
"Besides, it’s not necessary."
Agunas sat on the desktop, looking out the window at Veronia and the Little Husky, not knowing how to persuade Feng Yuan, so it didn’t go out. It was just uncertain whether Veronia really had the ability to comfort Feng Yuan.
"Uh—is it morning already?"
The Little Husky poked its head out from the towel blanket and looked around while whispering. Qi Chen glanced at Feng Yuan and said with disbelief,
"Is the reason you sleep like this because you’re too lazy to change back?"
Bounding out of the towel blanket, the Little Husky hopped onto the floor and reverted to his original form, stretching and saying,
"Switching up your sleeping style once in a while isn’t bad right?"
"You really are something... Are you still going to training today?"
Hearing Qi Chen’s question, Feng Yuan glanced at Xiao Ji, who was waiting eagerly and looking forward to his response, and scratched his head as he said,
"Sure, I’ll go. There’s nothing else to do anyway."
Seeing Xiao Ji happily fluff its feathers, Feng Yuan chuckled and picked up the sleeping Pomiti that was beside him and placed it in front of the Little Green Snake.
"Can you look after it for a while?"
Little Green Snake nodded and used its tail to turn Pomiti towards itself. Awakened by Feng Yuan’s actions, Pomiti, still groggy, took a few steps toward Little Green Snake and then sat on the ground.
"Sorry, can we talk for a moment?"
Just as he stepped out of the dormitory, two men blocked Feng Yuan. After glancing at them, Feng Yuan decisively said,
"No."
"This..."
Hearing Feng Yuan’s resolute answer, the speaking man smiled awkwardly. Agunas looked suspiciously at the other silent man. These two had approached them before, but why was that man silent now?
"Well, perhaps there’s been a small misunderstanding."
Seeing Feng Yuan leave without another word, the man who had spoken hurried to catch up and said. Feng Yuan stopped for a moment, then said with a cold laugh,
"Do you think attacking me could be considered a ’small misunderstanding’?"
"That... at that time, we tried to stop it, but..."
Feng Yuan did not pay them any heed and quickly walked away. Qi Chen sighed as he looked at the two men. Truth be told, he didn’t understand what Feng Yuan was thinking. If it were him, could he have shown such restraint in the face of these two? Agunas looked at the two men with a hint of revulsion and waved his claw. The power of time took effect on them, ensuring that no matter how they ran, they would find themselves back at the starting point the next second.
"What a nuisance..."
Watching Feng Yuan move further away, the speaking man said with a headache, then looked quizzically at the silent man beside him,
"Aren’t you going to say something?"
The other man glanced at him and snorted coldly,
"I don’t have the same thick skin as you."
"That matter really has nothing to do with us; it was clearly the doing of those who left the faction..."
"If we can’t get a breakthrough from him, the future of Divine Beast Hall might be even more..."
As the man droned on, the usually quiet man turned and said with a cold voice,
"So what? Don’t you understand the current state of Divine Beast Hall?"
"If the Divine Beast Hall falls apart, how is the Ascetic Shrine supposed to carry on?"
The speaking man said calmly as if stating a fact, to which the other man scoffed,
"Zhang Hongfei, the affairs of Ascetic Shrine are none of your concern. If it weren’t for your true allegiance to Divine Beast Hall, I wouldn’t have accompanied you out here."
"However, if you can’t bring change to Divine Beast Hall, the Ascetic Shrine doesn’t mind being its gravedigger!"
"What exactly are they trying to do?"
Veronia asked, somewhat puzzled. Though she hadn’t experienced it herself, she had learned from Agunas that the others truly intended to kill him, not just warn him. After all that had happened, they still had the gall to come looking for him?
"I don’t know, maybe Divine Beast Hall is just going through hard times. After all, with that incident, it’s hard to say whether their internal faction is on the verge of splitting."
Feng Yuan said offhandedly. As for how likely that possibility was? Just look at the Hunters. It didn’t take long for them to start having internal conflicts. Catching up, Qi Chen looked at Feng Yuan curiously and said,
"You don’t seem angry?"
"What’s there to be angry about? They can’t possibly succeed, can they?"
Feng Yuan said with indifference. Meanwhile, Xiao Ji was chirping indignantly on the side. At this moment, Dou Yanlan approached and looked at Qi Chen,
"You didn’t run into those two, did you?"
"We met them, but there wasn’t much to discuss."
Feng Yuan said with a smile. Dou Yanlan looked at him in surprise,
"You didn’t get into a fight with them?"
"There’s no need. If their explanation is reasonable, I’m not opposed to helping them out."
Upon hearing Feng Yuan’s response, Agunas looked at him with some surprise and asked,
"Why?"
"Because an Alliance acting unilaterally may not be a good thing."
