Chapter 941: Chapter 942: Discovery

"It seems there aren’t any anomalies; this area appears to be fine."

Veronia sensed the surroundings and spoke with confidence in her strength, but Feng Yuan just smiled at her and made a shushing gesture, which left her dissatisfied. Casting a displeased glance at Feng Yuan, Veronia quietly observed Xiao Ji and Little Green Snake, believing they couldn’t do any better than her.

Suddenly, Xiao Ji opened her eyes and let out a loud eagle cry, looking in a specific direction. Veronia said in surprise,

"Really detected something unusual? Impossible!"

She couldn’t believe that Xiao Ji, who was weaker than her, could surpass her in this regard. At that moment, Little Green Snake slowly opened her eyes, shook her head at Feng Yuan, indicating that she hadn’t sensed any abnormalities in the space. Smiling, Feng Yuan morphed into Little Husky and lay on Xiao Ji’s back, saying,

"Let’s go and see what it is."

"A bunch of strange souls, what are they doing here? It seems like there’s no problem, though."

Veronia said with some confusion as she looked at the gathering of spiritual bodies below. Xiao Ji seemed to realize she might have made a mistake and felt a bit embarrassed. Feng Yuan raised his paw and gently patted Xiao Ji, saying,

"No worries, these souls probably aren’t an issue. Keep sensing the surroundings."

"How did she manage to do it? Clearly, based on strength, she should be weaker than me."

Veronia asked Feng Yuan quizzically, still atop Xiao Ji’s back. She seemed to have trouble accepting this outcome. According to her senses, there should have been no anomalies, yet Xiao Ji appeared able to detect something off and indeed found abnormalities, just not the mechanical creations they were worried about.

"Specialization makes a difference. As a Death Series Divine Beast, Xiao Ji is naturally sensitive to such energy flows. It’s not strange that she can detect these things. Your range of authority is broad and general, while hers is more specialized, which naturally enhances her sensing abilities within her attribute power."

Little Husky explained, wagging his paw. Xiao Ji, who was still sensing the surroundings, heard Feng Yuan’s words and joyfully yelped. Veronia glanced at Xiao Ji, seemingly displeased for a moment, but she quickly recovered. After all, in terms of raw strength, she was much stronger than the current Xiao Ji, so there wasn’t much reason for her to be upset.

Just as some Divine Beasts specialized in assistance, perhaps Xiao Ji wasn’t as adept at fighting as her? She could only comfort herself with this thought. Little Husky wagged his tail, seemingly guessing what she was thinking and said,

"Actually, your areas of expertise are quite different. If Xiao Ji hadn’t diverged onto other paths, she would likely be extremely powerful in attack within the Death Series, whereas you have a wide array of versatile ultimate moves."

"What do you mean?"

Veronia looked at Feng Yuan with a puzzled expression. He waved his paw and explained,

"Your attribute is difficult to target. Unlike Xiao Ji, if someone were to formulate a strategy to suppress the power of the Death Series, her strength would be significantly reduced. But you’re different. You don’t have a particularly strong attribute nor a particularly weak one, making you difficult to target."

"Moderate, huh? I really don’t like that."

Veronia complained somewhat displeasedly, but a moment later, she murmured to herself as if suddenly realizing something,

"For a ruler, not having any overly obvious weaknesses seems more important."

Little Husky wagged his tail and said,

"I’ll say it again, I don’t support you reemerging Mitradite in the real world. The Netherworld, on the other hand, you can play around all you want; it doesn’t really affect much."

Veronia scanned Feng Yuan with a bit of irritation, retorting,

"The Kingdom of Holy Light within the Netherworld? Are you joking?"

"Is there a problem with that? Does the conflict between light and darkness have anything to do with location? Is there a difference between light that is so intense it repels anything but itself and the ultimate darkness?"

Little Husky rolled his eyes and said offhandedly, for he really couldn’t care less about all that holy light and darkness stuff. After all, the enemy of Odinis was still from the Holy Light World, and to him, an enemy was just a bad egg. As for right or wrong? When it came to a battle of beliefs, where was the right or wrong in that? Even those invaders were just fighting for their own worlds.

"Another discovery?"

Little Husky yawned and patted Xiao Ji lightly. Although he had previously advised Xiao Ji to take a rest before continuing the search, Xiao Ji seemed somewhat addicted, or rather, he was happy to be able to help Feng Yuan in a way that other Spirit Beasts could not replace, so he stubbornly insisted on continuing the search.

"Indeed..."

Little Husky squinted at the strange energy shield below. The mechanical beings and energy currents weren’t used by creatures of the Netherworld; most of them didn’t have a physical form, so these mechanics were meaningless to them and even hard to operate.

"They’re really lying in ambush here!"

Veronia said, waving her hand angrily as black thorns grew out of the void, spreading towards the energy shield below. Xiao Ji let out a cry and raised a black storm, but their attacks seemed to have no effect on the energy shield. Little Husky jumped off Xiao Ji’s back and returned to his original form.

Spreading a pair of black wings on his back, Feng Yuan took out a pitch-black ancient book and said,

"That energy shield must be highly resistant to death and dark forces. Switch to other attributes, don’t use those types of ultimate moves."

Xiao Ji was about to switch ultimate moves when he realized that his attribute was death. As for Wind Attribute moves, he knew how to use them, but since he didn’t have the augmentation of the authority, they hardly had any destructive power. Veronia thought for a moment and took out a few golden crystals, tossing them upward.

The crystals floated in the air, slowly emitting a pale golden light. Next, the crystals turned into golden orbs, and blinding pillars of golden light bombarded the energy shield. Looking at the gap that had been blasted in the energy shield, Veronia said proudly,

"It seems that moderation isn’t such a bad thing after all."

Seeing the gap in the energy shield, Xiao Ji immediately let out a long cry and flapped his wings. A bluish flame storm slipped through the gap, raging within. However, perhaps due to precautions taken in advance, the flames couldn’t cause much damage to the devices inside.

"High resistance? Seems like they’ve got some moves."

Feng Yuan said thoughtfully. Technically, energy shields weren’t complex, but to achieve a material layer on the device with high resistance was quite difficult; materials that could meet the original usage requirements and also have extreme resistance weren’t easy to come by.

"Then how about this move?"

With a wave of her hand, Veronia made a crystal bottle appear out of thin air and slowly tilt, pouring a stream of azure-blue water from it towards the interior of the energy shield, quickly submerging the devices. Xiao Ji looked on enviously at Veronia, as it was apparent that the water stream had damaged those devices.

The gray-black metal casings corroded in the water stream, exposing their internal mechanics, which seemed to have very low resistance; not just the water stream but even the flames released by Xiao Ji could damage them. Looking at the giant water ball burning with a ghostly blue flame inside, Feng Yuan casually flipped through the pitch-black ancient book in his hand.

"It should be a mechanical base set up to aid the Hunters, but...how did they manage to do it?"

Feng Yuan looked over the wreckage with some puzzlement. Not sure if these things held hidden dangers, he didn’t agree to Veronia storing them in the World of Mirrors. Instead, he had Little Green Snake temporarily construct a small space to store these items.

After collecting all the disassembled devices, Feng Yuan looked around. In the desolate Netherworld, he didn’t know how many such things there were, but upon researching, he found that they could potentially be used by humans, provided that the Alliance managed it properly, as it could offer substantial convenience.

"They’ve cracked the spatial coordinates of the Netherworld? But that’s highly unlikely."

Veronia said with some confusion, sharing the same doubt that Feng Yuan had. The Netherworld wasn’t a place one could simply enter at will; without the spatial coordinates, how did those invaders find the Netherworld while its spatial mapping location was constantly changing?

"Could it be those Ghost Series Spirit Beasts that helped? But if that’s the case, it’s going to be troublesome."

Feng Yuan said with a headache. Ghost Series Spirit Beasts innately had the ability to open gates to the Netherworld without needing precise coordinates.
