Chapter 885: Chapter 886 Another Meteorite

"Is this... a lizard?"

Feng Yuan was somewhat surprised as he looked at the green lizard-like Spirit Beast in front of Veronia. He hadn’t expected Veronia to conjure up a Spirit Beast with such a strange appearance. Veronia, with a face full of delight, waved her hand, and Feng Yuan was taken aback when he saw another lizard emerge from behind the Gate of Light.

Feng Yuan was aware of Veronia’s ability to create creatures of her own kind, which were not allowed to be too powerful, and their number was not fixed but influenced by overall strength. The stronger the overall strength, the fewer kin could be created. But this few—perhaps there was something special about them?

"May I take a look?"

Feng Yuan, curious, gazed at the little green lizard. The creature looked up, stuck out its tongue at Feng Yuan, and then ignored him, not as fond of clinging to Feng Yuan as Little Ice Cream was. Veronia gestured excitedly and said,

"Of course, you can."

"So, that’s how it is. The curse is actually related to fate, a Fate Series Spirit Beast, that’s really..."

Feng Yuan watched the pair of lizards with a surprised expression. Fate Series Spirit Beasts were naturally extremely rare, not to mention one as weak as this. However, Feng Yuan wasn’t worried about their safety, for if someone truly wanted to snatch them from Veronia, they’d likely face the wrath of all Divine Beasts.

After all, many Divine Beasts had their own followers, and if they couldn’t dispel mankind’s wild ambitions, their followers would be threatened.

"Fate Series Spirit Beast?"

Lanadi stepped forward, curious. As a member of the Mordan clan, related to time, this attribute similar to time naturally garnered her attention. The green lizard sneezed and swung its tail, seemingly trying to crawl back into the meteorite. Veronia caught its tail and said helplessly,

"Don’t run off, that’s not your home."

The green lizard looked at Veronia with dissatisfaction and let out puffing noises, seemingly expressing its discontent. Agunas glanced at Veronia and asked,

"Have you brought forth something you can’t control again?"

"What do you mean I can’t control it! They are independent beings too, and I certainly don’t think those Spirit Beasts that simply obey me are genuinely good!"

Veronia glared at Agunas with dissatisfaction, and Agunas, seemingly surprised, looked Veronia up and down and said,

"I didn’t expect our queen to have such thoughts?"

"You!"

Feng Yuan, rubbing his forehead, felt somewhat helpless. He didn’t understand what was exactly going on between Agunas and Veronia, why they would start bickering out of the blue.

"Although it is a Fate Series, it doesn’t seem to have many fate-related abilities, but rather more oriented towards curses."

Feng Yuan picked up the green lizard for a closer look. Little Cake, always woken by Feng Yuan’s movements, climbed discontentedly onto his head to rest. Seeing the other dare to take over its throne, Xiao Ji immediately let out an eagle’s screech as if warning the intruder. However, Agunas, who was responsible for translations, was busy arguing with Veronia and didn’t notice what was happening here.

"What abilities does the Fate Series have? The Spirit Beasts of that series are even rarer than the Time Series, and it seems there’s no related information within the Alliance."

Lanadi, curious, looked at the lizard in Feng Yuan’s hand. This might be one of the few Fate Series Spirit Beasts that appeared within human sight. Feng Yuan touched its hard scales and placed it back beside the meteorite and said,

"It’s somewhat like the Time Series, but the Fate Series is more tricky."

He tapped the lizard’s head and looked towards Veronia, who was still arguing, and said,

"Can you show us some of its abilities?"

Veronia glared at Agunas and said,

"Of course, little lizard, give that crocodile a taste of your power!"

"Hey! What are you talking about?"

Agunas protested at Veronia, but just then, a peculiar light flashed from the transparent crystal on the little lizard’s forehead. A moment later, Agunas felt a strange force envelop him, and just as he was about to say something, he stumbled in mid-air as if tripping over nothing.

"Basically, that’s how it works, but aren’t you pushing it too hard?"

Feng Yuan looked at the little lizard, which seemed completely drained, somewhat speechlessly. The creature had only a Good Level of strength, and even though the powers of the Fate Series were peculiar, it wasn’t intended to harm anyone. However, this was still a forced action.

Veronia glanced at Agunas, who had just taken a tumble from midair, and confidently said,

"See, that’s what you get for talking nonsense—forgot to tell you, I can borrow their powers to deal with you."

Seeing Veronia’s smug expression, Agunas tossed aside the book he was holding, and a spherical Barrier made of Runes enveloped him. Observing his opponent’s frustrated and angry demeanor, Feng Yuan said speechlessly,

"If you really have to fight, please do it in the Starry Sky, not here. This place can’t handle the aftershocks of your battle."

Veronia gave Agunas a challenging look and said,

"What do you say? Do you dare?"

Watching the disappearing Veronia and Agunas, Feng Yuan sighed helplessly, while Lanadi, somewhat puzzled, asked,

"Was that a trip just now?"

"No, it was most likely Fate’s Curse. That thing doesn’t play fair; other types of Ultimate Moves have a hard time affecting Agunas."

Feng Yuan explained while patting Xiao Ji’s head. Despite Agunas appearing unguarded, Divine Beasts naturally possess a strong resistance to negative effects, especially since Agunas is a Time Series Divine Beast, making it very difficult for Time Series Ultimate Moves to affect him.

Fate Series Ultimate Moves, however, are a different story. Their effects might not directly target the being itself. Fate Series curses typically predetermine the outcome, and the process is shaped by numerous possibilities that naturally unfold without the need for Fate Series powers to interfere.

That’s why these indirect effects can have an impact on Agunas.

"Where’s the unfairness in that? Won’t it be affected by power differences?" Lanadi asked, still puzzled. Agunas wasn’t invincible, so it seemed quite normal for Ultimate Moves to affect him. Shrugging, Feng Yuan said,

"Basically, Fate Series Ultimate Moves determine an outcome and allow countless possibilities to fulfill that outcome on their own. To some extent, they can avoid being suppressed by differences in power, but the most annoying part is right there."

"Because the outcome has been decided, if you cannot prevent all possibilities, then the likelihood of a Fate Series Ultimate Move striking and taking effect is one hundred percent. You could say that thing is almost always a guaranteed hit."

"That does seem..."

If the opponent’s Ultimate Moves were almost always guaranteed hits, that would be problematic. Lanadi certainly didn’t want to face such an enemy. Unless you can take them down from the start, there’s a good chance you’ll end up being turned around by the enemy’s moves.

"Fortunately, it seems to focus more on disruption than offense, which is also quite good," Feng Yuan commented, tapping the little lizard’s head as it looked at him dissatisfied and turned away with a swish of its tail. Gladys asked with some curiosity,

"Isn’t that Spirit Beast on your side? Wouldn’t it be better if it specialized in offense?"

Feng Yuan smiled at Gladys and said,

"If it were just a tool, that would naturally be the case, but you have to realize they are partners. Do you think such exaggerated abilities come without a cost?"

An Offensive Ultimate Move that ignores defenses and never misses? With decent power too, even Divine Beasts would find it hard to achieve such standards. Holding Xiao Ji, Feng Yuan said,

"A tool is naturally better the stronger it is, but I don’t think they need to become that kind of tool. The balance of all things is not just a saying."

After glancing at the Prophecy Doll on her shoulder, Gladys seemed to understand and said,

"Sorry, I forgot about that."

"No problem, as long as you remember when you’re dealing with them~"

Feng Yuan smiled, lifting Xiao Ji high. The little creature looked at him puzzledly while Little Ice Cream, jumping around on Feng Yuan’s head, meowed, seemingly saying something.

"In the end, you’re the one with the biggest gains."

Looking at Little Ice Cream on Feng Yuan’s head and the little lizard on Big Cat’s head, Lanadi said somewhat helplessly. Indeed, the Meteorite Pavilion had many interesting memorabilia, but they didn’t mesh particularly well with the characteristics of Maomu City, so Lanadi only picked a few distinctive meteorite products as gifts.

"Why have you come here? Let’s go. Drudgeon said someone wants to invite you for a meal."

Agunas suddenly appeared, opening a Space Gate and telling Feng Yuan. Feng Yuan wasn’t sure who had won, as both Veronia and Agunas seemed unscathed.
