Chapter 883 - 884: Miracle
Chapter 883: Chapter 884: Miracle
"This meteorite with shielding effects? I do have some recollection of this item. If there weren’t just this one piece, they probably wouldn’t have assigned it to me."
As he looked at the piece of meteorite, the curator spoke thoughtfully. Objects that could block detection had always been a focus of attention, it’s just that items like this meteorite were too rare. They were so rare that they were deemed to have no practical value and hence had ended up in their Meteorite Pavilion.
"How should this be cut open?"
Glancing at the various research observation recording devices that had already been activated, the curator turned to Feng Yuan and asked, looking towards Agunas.
"Do you want to do it or should I?"
"I’ll handle it, you tend to cause serious changes whenever you get involved."
Agunas did not dare let Feng Yuan take action. It knew that Feng Yuan couldn’t use his usual weapon now, and the weapons he could draw out now all had extremely strong power reactions. No one knew whether the meteorite would react with those powers.
"Then I’ll leave it to you~"
Feng Yuan said, before stepping back a few steps and picking up Xiao Ji. Seeing Feng Yuan apparently using Xiao Ji as a shield, Lanadi couldn’t help but laugh.
"Wouldn’t it get angry with you using it like that?"
Xiao Ji glanced at Lanadi, chirped once, and proudly erected a black semi-transparent barrier in front of Lanadi.
"No need, it’s not something dangerous."
Feng Yuan petted Xiao Ji on the head as he spoke. However, the way he was holding Xiao Ji like a shield made it wholly unbelievable. Agunas glanced at Feng Yuan speechlessly and extended a claw. By then, the security devices around the meteorite had been dismantled. Agunas carefully peeled away the rocky shell of the meteorite and seemed to discover something surprising.
"Did you already know about this?"
"Know what?"
"About this."
A round, pale yellow ice cream ball-like creature burst through the gap made by Agunas. It looked around with big eyes, suddenly made a ’meow’ and toppled onto the table, its brown conical rock feet kicking wildly in the air, the ring of debris surrounding its round body clanged against the table.
Agunas straightened it out with a claw and looked at Feng Yuan, somewhat speechlessly.
"Did you know there would be something like this inside?"
"What is it?"
Lanadi looked puzzled at the Spirit Beast, whose eyes were darting around. Feng Yuan shrugged.
"I just guessed that something might be alive in there, but I had no idea what it would be exactly."
Saying this, Feng Yuan stepped forward and for some reason, the ice cream ball-like Spirit Beast seemed to really enjoy his touch. Agunas looked at Feng Yuan a bit suspiciously.
"This thing wasn’t created by you, was it?"
"How could it be? But it’s pretty interesting~"
Feng Yuan then placed the ice cream ball on Xiao Ji’s head. But the space on top of its head wasn’t large enough, and the ice cream ball-like Spirit Beast fell straight down. Before Feng Yuan could catch it, it swiftly ran up to his shoulder, perching there and looking at Xiao Ji, who seemed rather displeased.
"This is a new Spirit Beast, and its intelligence seems not that high."
Feng Yuan had just casually checked to confirm the details. Lanadi, curious, tried to poke the ice cream ball creature, but it quickly dodged away. Upon hearing Feng Yuan’s words, Lanadi looked at him and asked,
"Do you know its specifics?"
"Good Level, life and death attributes, not too smart, though it has a distinct personality, it can’t yet speak, but it matches the conditions of a young Spirit Beast at this stage."
Veronia said calmly, holding her orb. Resting on Feng Yuan’s other shoulder, Veronia looked at him and said,
"It seems not to have a species name yet. Could you name it?"
"How about Lubo?"
"Lubo? I thought you would call it Ice Cream Ball."
Veronia said playfully, while Agunas flicked its tail.
"Are you planning to name it?"
"This..."
Looking at Lubo lying on his shoulder, Feng Yuan hesitated. Although he didn’t know why the creature wouldn’t leave his side, glancing at Xiao Ji who was clearly jealous, Feng Yuan felt somewhat helpless. If he kept it, Xiao Ji would probably object, and he didn’t really think it was a good idea to keep it around.
Lubo looked at Feng Yuan with a puzzled expression. It seemed to sense that Feng Yuan wasn’t keen on it, and let out a mew that sounded somewhat aggrieved. Listening to that reproachful cry, Xiao Ji was inexplicably moved, picked up Lubo, and put it beside the meteorite. Feng Yuan turned to Lanadi and said,
"I remember the Alliance has a department that specifically protects rare Spirit Beasts, right?"
"What? You’re not planning to adopt it?"
Looking at Lubo, who was sitting by the meteorite and weeping, Lanadi scratched his head and asked with some confusion. Feng Yuan, feeling a bit guilty, said,
"I’m afraid I can’t take care of it..."
"Without you, it would probably starve to death."
Agunas commented dryly, glancing at Feng Yuan without much enthusiasm. Although Feng Yuan might remember to feed it Spirit Beast Food on time, other aspects were lacking. At least Little Green Snake was always busy with its own things while also helping to take care of Pomiti. As for Big Cat, it was busy with games in the Data Domain recently and hadn’t been coming home, which was not an issue.
Xiao Ji could only rely on itself for training. And now he said he couldn’t take care of it?
"Don’t expose me like that~"
Feng Yuan chuckled, and Agunas rolled his eyes and said,
"I get what you mean. You’re worried that it might cause problems later when it realizes it doesn’t have its own kind, right?"
Unlike Xiao Ji and the others, as a Divine Beast, it inherently possessed uniqueness. Little Green Snake had its own species, which wasn’t an issue. As for Xiao Ji? As long as it could stick close to Feng Yuan, it was content. Agunas? It just temporarily didn’t need to. It wasn’t like those naive young Divine Beasts and was very open-minded about such matters.
But Lubo was different. As the only Lubo in the world, it probably wouldn’t see its own kind for a very long time.
Veronia glanced at Feng Yuan and said,
"How about I take care of it?"
"You? Can you?"
Feng Yuan was somewhat surprised. At that moment, Veronia reached out, gently touched Lubo, and a sky-blue light flashed. Feng Yuan seemed to understand something and said,
"I see, but you probably don’t have many spots available, do you?"
Glancing at Feng Yuan, Veronia shook her head and said,
"Although not many, giving one to Little Ice Cream won’t be much of an issue."
At that moment, Veronia waved her hand, and a Gate of Light opened. Several Lubos, similar in appearance but with distinct differences, ran out from the gate and joyfully hopped around Little Ice Cream. Seeing this scene, Agunas was somewhat shocked and said,
"How is this possible!"
It was certain that Lubo was a new type of Spirit Beast born by chance. Why would there be so many of its kind? Meanwhile, Feng Yuan knew something about why Veronia acted this way, and perhaps by doing this, Lubo could feel less lonely?
"What’s so impossible about it? Little Crocodile, there are many things you don’t know."
Veronia gave Agunas a challenging glare and proudly said, gently stroking the Lubos running around her.
"Don’t call me Little Crocodile!"
Agunas yelled angrily, rubbing his temples. Feng Yuan watched speechlessly as Agunas and Veronia argued, with the group of Lubos, except for Little Ice Cream, all seemingly rallying behind Veronia and mewing at Agunas as if protesting.
"This... this is too... what exactly are those Spirit Beasts you call ’Lubo’..."
The curator looked astonishingly at Feng Yuan and asked. If the creature was a Spirit Beast that had existed before, why had he never heard of it? If they were born from meteorites, does the abundance of them suggest there might be many similar meteorites? Veronia’s subtle action had completely baffled them.
"They are a special case born from that unique meteorite. Don’t doubt that other meteorites would give birth to Lubos unless they are like that one, which is unlikely, even if they are similar."
"As for why this situation arose... it’s Veronia’s ability."
Feng Yuan said with a hint of resignation.
