Chapter 868: Chapter 869: Against the Enemy

"Well done—take these for yourselves."

"Why are you giving this to me?"

Qi Chen looked puzzledly at the weapon that Feng Yuan had tossed over. He didn’t know what Feng Yuan had been fiddling with it in his hands, and as Feng Yuan threw another gun to Dou Yanlan, he said,

"Of course it’s for you to use. How can you fight without a suitable weapon?"

"Were you just checking to see if there were any special identity recognition devices?"

Dou Yanlan curiously asked while holding the gun, shaking her head Feng Yuan said,

"I was just checking for damage. I don’t think they would set up, or rather, be able to set up identity recognition devices."

Speaking, Feng Yuan shook the silver big gun in his hand and said,

"Isn’t it interesting to use their own weapons against them?"

"These weapons are all tainted with their aura. It looks like the Hunters are indeed..."

Hiding behind a rock, Lanadi stealthily peeked out and glanced at the group of people wrapped in silver-white armor at the mountain top. They were adjusting some strange devices, which obviously couldn’t be set up quickly, but the Special Duty Team had all along failed to notice?

"Huff, huff—"

A big brown bear mimicked the appearance of a baby bear with a dumbly cute face watching those Hunters, but despite the bear’s dumb appearance, it wasn’t much related to cuteness.

"Has someone finally noticed?"

Seemingly the leading Hunter didn’t seem surprised and spoke calmly. A red beam shot towards Mogu, hitting it and causing it to howl in pain as if it was hurt. Mogu slapped its paw on the mountain path beneath it, and a series of sharp spikes emerged from the ground.

"With that level of strength, you’re trying to stop us?"

The leader scoffed and waved his hand, and a network of light rays formed a net that smashed into Mogu. Mogu slapped its paw again, and a pale blue Energy Barrier appeared in front of it.

"You can’t grasp the situation."

The leader said disdainfully as the light net effortlessly penetrated the Energy Barrier and bound Mogu, but just when the leader was about to say something, the device that emitted and maintained the light net suddenly collapsed, emitting puffs of black smoke.

"What?!"

The leader was surprised, not understanding what had happened. On Gladys’ shoulder, the Prophecy Doll breathed a sigh of relief. Lanadi looked at Gladys with some surprise; she hadn’t expected the other party’s Prophecy Doll to have come this far. The method just now was simple, yet difficult.

There were countless possibilities for the future, and Gladys’ Prophecy Doll had forcibly intervened in a tiny probability that the device would malfunction, turning it into the chosen future.

"If it wasn’t for the evolutionary conditions, it should have evolved by now, right?"

Lanadi whispered to Gladys, who smiled smugly and said,

"What basis does your guess have?"

"Now it’s my turn."

Lanadi smiled and didn’t say much, picking up her whip and charging directly out. The Prophecy Doll on her shoulder hummed softly, and Lanadi’s figure became somewhat blurred. Seeing Lanadi charge out, the leader had a contemptuous smile on his face and waved his hand, and a volley of red beams shot towards Lanadi.

"What!"

The beams passed through Lanadi’s figure as if she were just a Phantom; the leader looked around warily. At that moment, Lanadi rushed in front of the leader and smiled,

"Not knowing others’ Ultimate Moves can be quite dangerous—"

Her whip directly bound the leader and smashed him fiercely onto the ground, the metallic armor clashing with the surface and making a huge noise. Seeing the others raise their guns and aim at Lanadi, Gladys sighed lightly and said,

"Do you trust me that much?"

Suddenly, Mogu stood up and swung its paw powerfully. The tiles on the ground were lifted by Mogu’s Telekinesis and smashed towards the Hunters. If it weren’t for the metal armor’s ability to resist Telekinesis, Mogu wouldn’t have needed this trouble; it could have just controlled the people and thrown them down the mountain.

"Hmph, you think you’ve won like this?"

Protected by the metal armor, the leader didn’t seem to be hurt much and muttered lowly. Lanadi glanced at the devices that were gradually starting up and said,

"Did you think we wouldn’t notice your devices?"

"What?!"

Golden lightning suddenly burst out from the machinery in all directions, terrifying explosions roaring. Even Lanadi and Gladys couldn’t help but fall to the ground. Mogu crawled to Gladys’ side and shielded her under its body.

The immense explosion had even blown up a small part of the mountain top. Below, Captain Yan, who had just broken through the barrier, looked up in surprise at the smoke-enveloped peak and fiercely said,

"Move! Head that way!"

"Phew, that was quite the explosion; it seems these things aren’t in the same league as Rune Technology."

Lanadi looked at the mess covering the mountaintop and couldn’t help but sigh. Although Rune Technology could harness immense internal energy, it rarely resulted in such exaggerated explosive effects. On the other hand, with modern mechanical technology pumping high destructive power energy, a fault could easily lead to a serious explosion.

"Mechanical civilization, huh? Definitely not on the same side as those previous attackers."

Gladys surveyed the downed Hunters with an indescribable look, while Mogu stepped forward to forcefully disassemble the metal armor from their bodies. Watching Mogu’s eagerness to unwrap his ’gifts,’ Gladys couldn’t help but feel a chuckle rising in her throat. Looking over the chaotic mountaintop, Lanadi said with a touch of disappointment,

"I didn’t expect to find absolutely no clue."

"Really, is that so?"

Gladys watched Lanadi playfully; she didn’t believe he had failed to notice anything. Noticing Gladys’ stare, Lanadi smiled and said,

"Well, at least I can be sure an attack from another world is being prepared. How troubling... no rest for the weary."

"You’re planning to leave?"

Even though Gladys asked, she seemed certain of the answer. Lanadi glanced at her and responded helplessly,

"I have no choice, there’s too much to do back home, and besides, I’m not really here for a vacation. I would have loved to take on a high-difficulty challenge, but unfortunately..."

"High difficulty? Indeed."

Gladys thought of Teacher Yan and smiled slightly. Lanadi looked at her with a touch of envy and said,

"Why do all the best things fall into your lap?"

"Who knows?"

Gladys gave a small smile, but Lanadi knew the bitterness hidden within her heart and cracked a whip at the leader who was attempting to sneak away,

"Maybe it’s compensation for you? I’ve enjoyed so much in the past; now it’s time for me to repay all that~"

Gladys glanced at the carefree Lanadi and said somewhat helplessly,

"When did you ever indulge? Or what do you owe?"

"Who’s there!"

"Yo~ Hong Zhi~ you’ve come too~"

Feng Yuan waved and shouted cheerily to Yang Hongzhi. Glancing at Feng Yuan, Yang Hongzhi looked interrogatively at Najia by his side. Najia nodded and waved her little hand, causing the giant Star Wheel in the sky to gradually dissipate.

Seeing this, Feng Yuan teased,

"You’ve led Najia astray~ A Divine Beast known for its support abilities has become your main attacker?"

Xiao Hui, embarrassed, looked down a bit, while Xiao Hei seemed dissatisfied with Feng Yuan’s words and barked in protest. Feng Yuan, reaching behind for one of the floating weapons, flippantly tossed one over saying,

"Here, even though you won’t need it, you can still play with it, can’t you?"

"Play with it?"

Yang Hongzhi looked puzzled at the heavy gun in his hands, then turned to watch Qi Chen and Dou Yanlan, who were locked in battle with those clad in metal armor,

"Aren’t you going up to lend a hand?"

"Me? All I need to do is stay here and make sure they don’t run into any trouble."

"Actual combat training? I’m envious."

Hearing Feng Yuan’s comment, Yang Hongzhi had no trouble guessing what Feng Yuan was plotting and said with a laugh,

"What about you? You want to go up and give it a shot?"

"Nah, since you’re not worried, it means they can handle themselves. They must be preparing for the upcoming academy assessment, right?"

Feng Yuan looked at Yang Hongzhi in surprise and said,

"How did you know?"

"Is it that hard to guess? You don’t even bother to train your own Beast Tamer. The only reason you’d stand by and watch them fight is because of the impending academy assessment."

Yang Hongzhi said helplessly, then glanced over at Qi Chen and Dou Yanlan,

"Their battle skills are pretty impressive; they’re at least at a sophomore level."

"Surely their strength isn’t that exaggerated?"

Feng Yuan was puzzled, as to him, the capabilities of Qi Chen and Dou Yanlan didn’t seem so advanced.
