Chapter 864: Chapter 865 Misunderstanding
"Is that so?"
Feng Yuan seemed a bit regretful as he was about to pick up Xiao Ji when suddenly the cloud mass plunged violently, and just before it hit the ground, Xiao Ji flew up looking scared and plunged into Feng Yuan’s arms.
"It seems it really is broken."
Feng Yuan looked at the shattered cloud mass and said regretfully while Drudgeon shook his ears and said,
"It’s normal, it hasn’t been maintained for a long time."
"Aren’t you maintaining it?"
Feng Yuan looked at Drudgeon in surprise, and after scanning Feng Yuan, Drudgeon said irritably,
"Do you think I understand this stuff? I’m not Ernis; mechanical devices are not my strong suit."
"Mechanical devices? Isn’t it Rune Technology?"
Feng Yuan was somewhat surprised, as he had always thought that the Cloud Pavilion used runes and arrays to achieve various functions. Drudgeon shook his ears and said,
"It’s a mix of everything—runes, arrays, mechanics, and more. The Cloud Pavilion is a technological marvel of that era."
"The craftsmanship manual of the Cloud Pavilion might be somewhat inspiring for them."
Drudgeon said as he waved his hand and an ancient thread-bound book appeared in his hand. He gently tapped it, and the book divided into two parts. He took one part back and handed the other to Feng Yuan saying,
"Here you go."
"Are you talking about the City Defense System?"
Feng Yuan realized what Drudgeon was referring to. Despite being just a library, the internal defense system of the Cloud Pavilion was very complex, involving energy, physicality, spiritual power, and subspace, precisely what the merely physical city defense systems lacked.
"This could be somewhat useful, but this thing and the existing defense system’s power supply are somewhat different, not sure if they could use it."
Feng Yuan flipped through the book in his hands and understood the principle of the Cloud Pavilion. Lanadi looked around and said,
"The Cloud Pavilion probably uses a method similar to what you do, right? I remember that approach has flaws in resisting energy fluctuations."
"Similar, but this one uses external energy as auxiliary and internal power supply as the main source; it handles energy fluctuations much better than the one I came up with."
Feng Yuan casually responded. Hearing these two discussing things she didn’t understand, Gladys felt somewhat helpless as she walked around the top of the Cloud Pavilion with the Prophecy Doll. Although the construction of the Cloud Pavilion was exquisite, it was ultimately just a library. After walking around and seeing everything there was to see, it became somewhat dull. So, Drudgeon led everyone out of the Cloud Pavilion.
"What are you doing here!"
Just then, a security guard on patrol saw Feng Yuan and his group coming out from the Space Gate and shouted nervously while pulling out his walkie-talkie to call for backup.
"Do you really need to make such a big fuss?"
Feng Yuan looked somewhat speechlessly at the guard who was anxiously staring at them. The guard, eyes fixed on Feng Yuan and his group, shouted loudly,
"What did you just do! Don’t you know the library forbids the use of spatial movement Ultimate Moves to randomly enter or exit? Are you trying to steal the precious books here?!"
Listening to the guard blabbering on, Feng Yuan, massaging his forehead, said somewhat helplessly,
"The materials in the Humanities History Museum are all copies, and there’s nothing particularly valuable. How could anyone want to steal them?"
"Then what are you doing here?"
The guard simply didn’t believe Feng Yuan’s words. Who normal would open a space gate inside a library? There had to be some ulterior motive, either theft or causing chaos.
"So what exactly were you trying to do by opening a space gate here?"
Liao Yu said somewhat speechlessly. It seems this guy’s knack for causing trouble hasn’t changed at all. Even in the Maomu Grand Library, he could stir up trouble. Shrugging, Feng Yuan responded helplessly,
"I was just bringing friends to visit the Cloud Pavilion. Just our luck to be misunderstood."
"The Cloud Pavilion? Is there such a place here?"
Liao Yu was a bit puzzled. As for the idea that Feng Yuan was up to no good? He truly couldn’t believe it. Not to mention that he was officially a member of the Special Duty Team, and both Drudgeon and Agunas were here; if he messed up, they would stop him.
But isn’t the Maomu Grand Library’s gallery classification named after the collections they hold? What is this strange place called the Cloud Pavilion?
"Isn’t it recorded?"
Feng Yuan looked at the bewildered library director in surprise. In order to prove that he wasn’t causing trouble, he specifically called Liao Yu over, which just alerted the library director, who then tried hard to recall and said,
"It seems there is no similar repository information. Are you sure it’s called that name?"
"The Cloud Pavilion’s records were lost during the second fire incident; otherwise, they wouldn’t have lost so many early Dynasty Era texts."
Drudgeon said, to which Liao Yu looked at Feng Yuan in surprise and asked,
"What strange ancient ruins have you dug up this time?"
"It’s not ancient ruins. The whole Maomu Grand Library was established because of the Cloud Pavilion, you know?"
Feng Yuan rolled his eyes and said. Hearing Feng Yuan’s words, the library manager curiously asked,
"Do you know the origin of the Maomu Grand Library?"
"Of course, initially it was a group of scholars who had learned special knowledge at the Cloud Pavilion. After they could no longer access it, they built the grand library on the site of the former Cloud Pavilion to share their knowledge. Over time, it gradually evolved into the current grand library. However, after having gone through so much, I am curious if that school still exists."
"I’m not sure about that. When I took over, there was no information about any school in the archives,"
the person in charge recalled and then, remembering something, looked at Feng Yuan expectantly and asked,
"Are there many unique books remaining inside the Cloud Pavilion?"
"I’m not sure about that. You should ask Drudgeon. So, can we leave now?"
"I’m very sorry for taking up so much of your time."
The person in charge said apologetically. He hadn’t really believed that Feng Yuan and his group would cause trouble at the library, but they had to conduct the investigation as required by the regulations.
"You guy, finding a special area and not even telling us, almost got treated as the bad guys."
As they walked out of the front doors of the Maomu Grand Library, Liao Yu looked at Feng Yuan and said, glancing at Liao Yu, Feng Yuan said irritably,
"What’s the use of telling you? Next, I’m planning to take people to visit Shuichao Cave. Do I need to report that to you as well?"
"Shuichao Cave? Where’s that?"
Liao Yu paused for a moment, unable to recall exactly what that place was, and found it strange how Feng Yuan found such odd locations. Dou Yanlan, however, recalled something and said in surprise,
"Isn’t that Yu Xian’er’s residence? Are we really going there?"
"There shouldn’t be any problems. I had Agunas ask before; they seem quite welcoming."
"Yu Xian’er’s home?! Don’t mess around, okay!"
Liao Yu shouted anxiously. If Feng Yuan messed around at Yu Xian’er’s home, it could be trouble. Yu Xian’er might not be a true Divine Beast, but her strength was greater than that of a Sacred Beast. If Feng Yuan caused trouble, it could greatly impact Maomu City.
"What am I messing around with? Am I that kind of person?"
Feng Yuan said somewhat speechlessly, while Agunas flicked his tail and added,
"That’s hard to say; who knows what you might do."
"So, how about it? Fancy a trip to Shuichao Cave? It’s a rare opportunity."
Feng Yuan said, wrapping his arm around Liao Yu’s neck and grinning mischievously. Liao Yu looked at Feng Yuan irritably and responded,
"Forget about it. We still have a lot of work to do here. If it weren’t for the need to verify your identity with my help, I wouldn’t even want to come."
"Eh? Haven’t I already helped you guys clear several backlog cases?"
Feng Yuan said, somewhat surprised. Aside from a lapse in time, there hadn’t been any strange organizations active in this area recently, so there shouldn’t be any sudden surge in cases. Lanadi glanced at Liao Yu and smiled,
"Are you preparing for the Conscription Order?"
"Conscription Order?!"
Qi Chen and others were taken aback. Liao Yu looked at Lanadi skeptically. Just by her appearance, she didn’t seem to be from Great Xia, and he wondered where she had gotten her information from.
"I see. Are you notifying all the Beast Tamers to prepare then?"
Feng Yuan seemed to understand something. As for whether the Conscription Order would fall on him, that seemed unlikely. After all, he had a Divine Beast behind him. If he were to fight from the start, it could be hard to manage.
"Who are you? How do you know about the Conscription Order? What are you doing in Great Xia?"
Liao Yu narrowed his eyes and asked Lanadi cautiously.
