Chapter 809: Chapter 810: Battle
In the tranquil forest, only the footsteps of the group could be heard. Qi Chen looked around and asked in a low voice,
"Now, which way should we go?"
In front of them, the flames suddenly seemed cut short, as if a line had been severed in the middle. Though the ethereal blue fire could still be seen nearby, nobody dared to take that step forward. Feng Yuan thought for a moment and said,
"It must be that spatial transfer is in effect, though I’m not sure if it will continue to be."
Feng Yuan wasn’t quite certain about this; at the moment, the entire Misty Forest’s space became even more chaotic. Gitalien had tried to suppress the space here, but to little avail—the space of the Misty Forest appeared just as disordered after the attempt.
"Tsk!"
Feng Yuan, dissatisfied, looked up at the sky. The Cang Ming Dragon in the air seemed to have received Feng Yuan’s message and furiously flapped its massive wings. A black storm quickly swept through the entire forest, the thick mist scattered by the black gale, and the towering trees began to wither. Raising his right hand to shield his eyes from the sand and dust stirred up by the wind, Qi Chen said somewhat exasperatedly,
"What kind of madness are you unleashing now?"
Feng Yuan didn’t reply, just quietly watching, cuddling Xiao Ji. The area of withering expanded from where they were, and at this moment, the space around them was no longer chaotic. Gitalien, somewhat puzzled, said,
"What’s the principle here? The wind just now didn’t seem to carry the power of the space attribute, did it?"
In the darkness, a pair of azure blue eyes slowly opened, looking at the crystal that reflected the increasingly desolate forest. A look of disgust appeared on the small face, and with a gentle swipe of a small hand, the crystal reflecting the image instantly shattered.
In the sky, the Cang Ming Dragon howled angrily as chunks of desolate land replaced the original forest. Standing on the barren and dead ground, the group looked up, some with surprise, at the Cang Ming Dragon which seemed to be declaring its territory with continuous howls.
Streams of rune chains flew outwards in all directions, slowly transforming the island into a land of death. Gitalien, full of skepticism, said,
"Just now, it seemed like someone used a spatial explosion?"
"Be confident, drop the ’it seemed.’ Without using a spatial explosion, how could the Cang Ming Dragon directly replace the space? You can’t think it’s just doing this out of boredom, right?"
Feng Yuan glanced at Gitalien and said with a smirk. Agunas, looking bewildered, commented,
"A spatial explosion? It couldn’t possibly have that ability, could it?"
It understood well that the spatial explosion Gitalien referred to wasn’t the same as the ultimate move with the same name used by a space-attribute Spirit Beast; rather, it was a unique Divine Beast Technique that Gitalien had for directly destroying a region of space.
"Have you forgotten where we are? Is it so strange that it can do such a thing in its own territory?"
Feng Yuan said nonchalantly, as if this was not in the least bit surprising. Agunas, startled, then said,
"So you mean, it’s been watching us all along?"
"I don’t know, but it’s almost certain, isn’t it?"
"The lord of the Mirror Realm..."
Agunas felt a bit anxious; though theoretically on the same level, it was very much aware that it might not be a match for the other on its home territory. Gitalien, looking at the Cang Ming Dragon still showing off its force in the sky, said,
"So you summoned it here for this reason?"
"Not exactly. It’s just that this place doesn’t limit its power, and after all, traveling between islands isn’t exactly easy, is it?"
"I have a question for you."
Staring at Feng Yuan, Gitalien said seriously. Blinking, Feng Yuan replied somewhat puzzled,
"What question?"
"If it can directly destroy the opponent’s spatial explosion, does that imply it has the power to take us straight to the core of the Ancient Ruins?"
Squinting his eyes, Gitalien inquired. Feng Yuan, smiling, responded while looking at Gitalien,
"Why would you think that? That’s impossible, unless we had the time-space coordinates of the Ancient Ruins. Otherwise, breaking through the layers of space would only bring forth strange things."
"Don’t believe it?"
Feng Yuan smiled and gestured towards the sky. With a flick of its tail, the Cang Ming Dragon shattered space, creating a rift that looked like a broken mirror.
Beyond the spatial rift was a deep purple space from which a strange aura continuously emanated. Just a glance out of the corner of their eyes made everyone feel dizzy and headachy.
"What is that?!"
Holding his head, Qi Chen asked in horror. Looking at the spreading deep purple, Feng Yuan calmly said,
"It’s a special spatial layer that bears the brunt of the rule collisions from conflicts in the Yang World’s Main World. Without this layer, the Main World would probably be experiencing all sorts of anomalies by now."
"So that’s it, but I thought that space was quite far from the Main World?"
Gitalien asked with some confusion. Its main area of responsibility was within the Main World, and even the subspaces weren’t its concern, so naturally, it was unclear what exactly this special spatial layer was.
"It is quite far, but this spatial layer is part of the World’s Shadow. Therefore, tearing through the spatial barriers here, there’s a high probability of ending up in that spatial layer..."
Feng Yuan shrugged helplessly, if it weren’t for this, he would have already instructed the Cang Ming Dragon to break through all the way, why would he bother slowly looking for a gate?
"It seems that thing is not here."
After circling the mountain peak, Feng Yuan said in disappointment. Although no cave had been discovered yet, everyone could still use spiritual power to sense if there were any peculiar spaces within the peak. Unfortunately, peculiar spaces were out of the question; the mountain was completely solid, without even a cave.
"Bad luck."
Gladys held a card between her fingers and smiled. The next second, she flicked it fiercely, and the card ignited in the air. A blazing Fire Dragon erupted from the flames and smashed toward the encroaching shadow.
"Here they come again?"
Looking at those strange creatures made of crystal, Feng Yuan stroked Xiao Ji’s head and said,
"Your turn now."
"I think this small matter could be left to your friend."
Gitalien spread its fingers, turning them into claws, and with a swoop through the air, a silver-white spatial ripple smashed into those crystal creatures, shattering them into glittering fragments.
Cotton leapt out from Dou Yanlan’s arms and twisted its body in mid-air. With a sweep of its tail, dozens of crystalline energy swords appeared in the sky. As Cotton landed, the swords plunged from above into the ground, continuously emitting ripples. Those touched by the ripples slowed the movements of the crystal creatures.
In the sky, the Cang Ming Dragon roared loudly, and those crystal creatures attempting to approach it instantly turned into a shower of fragments that slowly drifted away. On the ground, Lan Lan waved her little hands, and water arrows appeared out of nowhere, assaulting the low-flying crystal birds ready to sneak attack at any moment. Ah Mu also joined the battle, his sharp wooden spikes emerging from the lifeless land, attacking both the low-flying crystal birds and the crystal creatures tunneling underground.
Meng Binglan’s Iron Dom transformed into a massive cannon, which roared repeatedly. The energy-filled cannonballs accurately hit the crystal creatures, causing violent explosions.
In the darkness, a pair of deep blue eyes watched this scene with anger. Icicle vines interwove as they writhed towards Feng Yuan and the others, intending to strangle them. Buds began to grow on the ice crystal vines and burst forth wildly, causing the surrounding energy to plummet rapidly.
"Is that its move?"
Feng Yuan, who of course noticed the anomaly, stopped Xiao Ji from releasing black feathers and said to the others,
"Let’s go, that one’s angry. If we don’t run now, we’re going to be in trouble~"
"So, what exactly are you all trying to do..."
Agunas flicked its tail, somewhat speechless. Feng Yuan and their actions seemed to be provoking that one. Transforming into Little Husky and clinging to Xiao Ji, Feng Yuan wagged its tail and said,
"Of course, we’re trying to lure it out~ otherwise, wouldn’t it be troublesome to search island by island?"
"Weren’t they the first to strike?"
Qi Chen was stunned, thinking they were merely retaliating. Agunas rolled its eyes and said,
"If they didn’t want to confront it, Gitalien could have easily used spatial transfer to throw them far away. Even though the Space Gate can’t be opened, spatial transfer shouldn’t be suppressed, right?"
