Chapter 743 - 744

Chapter 743: 744

"Yes and no. If I hadn’t been so attached, maybe I would have completely forgotten them by now."

With a smile, Feng Yuan held Xiao Ji in his arms. The male eagle, held by Feng Yuan, paused momentarily before rubbing his head against Feng Yuan’s chin. Holding Xiao Ji in one arm and the pitch-black Ancient Book in the other, Feng Yuan said,

"It seemed to be an invasion incident at that time, too. I was leading the team, planet by planet, clearing our way. They all followed behind me; I was the teacher, and they were the students."

"On Sin Star, we even encountered an interesting pair of siblings~"

Laughing softly, Feng Yuan walked the short distance quickly and tucked the pitch-black Ancient Book away as he said,

"Let’s go, it’s time to head back."

"Can’t we take a car?"

"Do you have the heart?"

"I have the heart."

"Little Crocodile, you’ve changed~"

Feng Yuan released Xiao Ji from his hands and grabbed Agunas, transforming him into a crocodile dumpling. In the silent streets, only Feng Yuan’s laughter could be heard.

"Your idea of rest is to go out and wander around in uniform?"

Upon returning to the dorm, Qi Chen spoke in an annoyed tone upon seeing Feng Yuan’s clothes. Scratching his head and feeling somewhat guilty, Feng Yuan said,

"I just wanted to clear my head~"

"Going for a stroll in the special forces’ uniform? Don’t tell me you’ve been playing some young master’s bullying game?"

"Is that what you think of me?"

Feng Yuan spoke discontentedly, scrutinizing him for a while before Qi Chen said,

"I have no idea what you would do. I can’t guess what you’re capable of."

"Tch!"

Feng Yuan sat on the bed and flopped down hard. There was a crisp sound as he held his head and fell back on the bed. With a speechless glance at Feng Yuan, who had hit his head against the wall, Qi Chen asked,

"You alright there...?"

"Ow~ How could I be okay..."

Feng Yuan turned into a Little Husky form and lay on the bed with both front paws over his head, nearly bursting into tears. Xiao Ji looked on nervously and somewhat anxiously at Feng Yuan. Agunas glanced at Feng Yuan and said,

"Keep pretending. A mere wall thinks it can compete with the hardness of your head?"

"Hey! What’s that supposed to mean?"

The Little Husky, holding its head, glared discontentedly at Agunas. With a flick of his tail, Agunas drifted towards the wall behind Feng Yuan and said,

"Let me check if you’ve made a dent in the wall."

"You jerk! At least pretend to care about me!"

The Little Husky whined and furiously scratched at Agunas with his front paws. Dodging the flurry of claws, Agunas floated back to the window and commented,

"It looks like the wall is pretty solid, no dent from you hitting it."

"Whimper~"

Once again covering his head with his paws, the Little Husky collapsed powerlessly onto the bed and looked at Agunas and then at Qi Chen pitifully, just as a knock came at the door.

"Ah Chen, is it convenient to come in?"

"Yo~"

The Little Husky eyed Qi Chen, wagging its tail back and forth with an eager look for entertainment as Qi Chen glared at Feng Yuan and shouted,

"Come in!"

Opening the door to find all of Feng Yuan’s Spirit Beasts in the room, Dou Yanlan asked with some confusion,

"Where’s Feng Yuan? Why isn’t he here?"

"There."

Pointing nonchalantly at the Little Husky on the bed, Qi Chen said with resignation. Dou Yanlan looked at Feng Yuan and asked in confusion,

"What happened to him? Did someone hit him?"

"He knocked his head by accident."

With an annoyed glance at Feng Yuan, Qi Chen said. Dou Yanlan sat beside Feng Yuan’s bed, gently pried the Little Husky’s paws apart, and asked,

"Is it very bad?"

"Yes... Ow!"

The Little Husky suddenly sprang to the corner of the room, shivering. He didn’t understand how Dou Yanlan could locate the exact spot where he’d accidentally hit himself, especially since she’d also poked it hard. Cotton, placed on the bed by Dou Yanlan, looked over at Feng Yuan, proudly flicking his tail with a snooty lift of his head.

Jumping down from the bed, Feng Yuan transformed back into his human form. He didn’t dare to mess with Dou Yanlan any longer. She wasn’t an easy opponent and, although Feng Yuan wasn’t necessarily going to lose if it really came to a fight, he didn’t want that. Fighting back and forth was just exhausting, you know.

"Did you come looking for Qi Chen with some plan in mind?"

Feng Yuan looked curiously at Dou Yanlan and then at Qi Chen. With a sideways glance at Feng Yuan, Qi Chen said with irritation,

"What are you daydreaming about? Yanlan was just delivering something."

"Delivering something?"

"Yours."

Qi Chen took the document bag from Dou Yanlan, rifled through it, and pulled out a few sheets of papers to hand to Feng Yuan. Looking over the papers handed by Qi Chen, Feng Yuan said,

"Shangjing City Academy Unified Exam application form?"

"I don’t want it. I’ve already decided to stay in Maomu City."

Feng Yuan threw the application form onto the table and said, while Qi Chen looked at him and spoke,

"Really not going to consider it? Honestly, if we’re talking about it, the academies in Shangjing City are not just a little stronger than the ones in Maomu City. If you miss this opportunity..."

Dou Yanlan gently patted Qi Chen and said,

"Stop it, although in theory the academies in Shangjing City only admit fresh high school graduates, it doesn’t mean there are no exceptions. With his connections to the Divine Beasts, it wouldn’t be much of a problem if he really wanted to go."

"You want to give it a try?"

Feng Yuan looked curiously at Qi Chen, who shook his head and pulled out another application form, saying,

"No, I won’t go. The competition made it clear to me that Teacher Yan’s judgment was not wrong; my chances of passing are really not very big."

What Qi Chen didn’t mention was that a student from a wealthier family had secretly told him, if he could bring along Feng Yuan, maybe Shangjing Academy would make an exception and admit him. But Qi Chen didn’t want to do that; he just hoped that presenting the application form would encourage Feng Yuan to attend a better academy.

"It’s not entirely without a chance, but let’s forget it. I believe you wouldn’t do something that hurts Ah Mu anyway."

Remembering something, Feng Yuan shook his head. Qi Chen, somewhat embarrassedly, looked at Dou Yanlan and said,

"But you, Yanlan..."

With a smile, Dou Yanlan said,

"I might not pass either, and besides, I don’t have enough money to attend Shangjing Academy."

"Yanlan..."

Just then, a crisp crunching sound arose, and Qi Chen, speechless, glanced at Feng Yuan who was stuffing dog food into his mouth from a bag labeled as ’Wafer Dog Food,’ and said,

"You... this guy..."

"Keep going, keep going, I’m just eating something because I’m hungry."

"Get lost!"

Using the excuse of needing to clear his mind, Feng Yuan skipped classes for two days in a row, only reappearing today when Drudgeon’s mini-class was starting since Xiao Ji definitely didn’t want to miss out on this opportunity to gain strength, especially after having rested for a long time due to reaching its limit in strength ranks. Now Xiao Ji wanted to catch up on the wasted time.

Seeing the patrolling special service unit officers, Qi Chen said with some confusion,

"Haven’t they caught those people yet?"

"One can’t guarantee there won’t be any accidents, given that Lorraine Tower and the others are also not around..."

"Are they a match for those people?"

"This..."

Hearing what Dou Yanlan said, Feng Yuan scratched his face. In reality, the special service officers’ patrol had nothing to do with him; he did not think they would be much use against those people.

"It’s just to appease the public."

Agunas said calmly. Anyone with a clear sight knew that those people were attracted by the Divine Beasts. If there were any remnants left, the moments when Drudgeon acted alone would be their opportunity to attack. As for Agunas?

With incomplete information, it was unlikely those people would make a move on it. After all, to think they could defeat it without working around the authority managed by the Divine Beasts? They couldn’t even last long under their attack.

"However, at first, I really thought they’d request to cancel Drudgeon’s lessons."

Feng Yuan, looking at the patrolling officers, said, while Dou Yanlan glanced at the students gathering at the battlefields and remarked,

"They can’t do it, not to mention Drudgeon wouldn’t care about them. Those angry students and their parents are not something they could withstand."

"Angry students?"

Feng Yuan seemed to recall something amusing and said,

"Speaking of which, it seemed like that person didn’t suppress those who harshly criticized him back then~"

"Who are you talking about?"

Meeting Dou Yanlan’s puzzled gaze, Feng Yuan shook his head and said,

"Someone who practiced his ideals to the end. For the sake of a Federation surrounded by formidable enemies, everything about all Federation officials including their reputation was his weapon. Even though in the end, he too followed his ideals, he dissolved the biggest crisis with his life and his reputation."

"This..."

Dou Yanlan glanced at the bewildered Qi Chen. Unlike him, Dou Yanlan could sense the implication behind those words. Looking at Feng Yuan, Dou Yanlan asked,

"So in the end, what happened to him?"

"What else could have happened? Not many people were aware of his final operation back then, and even those things associated with him were either altered or destroyed. He most likely carried the reputation of a traitor for the rest of his life."

Recalling Guo Huai’s attitude back then, Feng Yuan said uncertainly. Although he was one of the few who knew the truth in the beginning, he had left early, and he wasn’t sure what had happened in the end.
