Divine Beast Creator -
Chapter 701 - 702
Chapter 701: 702
"You’re stirring things up like this, could you attract the attention of certain individuals?"
Upon hearing Guo Huai’s voice, Feng Yuan looked back in doubt and said in surprise,
"How come you showed up today?"
"With the commotion you’re making, what do you think?"
Guo Huai said somewhat helplessly. Having system assistance, he naturally didn’t need to wait for Drudgeon’s teachings like the others. Although that system was somewhat flawed, he never lacked for moves and techniques. He had been busy organizing mission rewards gained from traveling through time and space with Feng Yuan and preparing the materials needed for Pu Pu’s evolution.
But the disturbance Feng Yuan caused was too great, which is why he made a special trip to come and remind him. After spending such a long time together, he had some understanding of Feng Yuan. Some things that guy might overlook could end up causing problems.
"Attract what?"
With a wary tone, Qi Chen asked, and Feng Yuan shook his head replying,
"From what I’ve gathered so far, they really don’t have the capability to deal with them."
"You know?"
Guo Huai was somewhat astonished. Placing a hand on Feng Yuan’s shoulder and looking displeased, Feng Yuan glanced around and said in a low voice,
"Are they not those guys who are looking to exploit the Divine Beasts?"
"Exploit the Divine Beasts?"
Everyone except Guo Huai was somewhat puzzled, as the concept of invincible Divine Beasts was deeply ingrained in their minds. Naturally, they wouldn’t think that there would be people looking to gain the power of the Divine Beasts through means other than their recognition.
"Knowing is good enough."
Upon realizing that Feng Yuan seemed to actually understand the situation, Guo Huai didn’t say much more. Feng Yuan glanced at Guo Huai and said,
"Could it be that you’ve received another mission?"
"No, I just feel like something has been off in Maomu City these past few days."
Recalling the question mark-filled data he saw on his way to purchase materials, Guo Huai’s expression turned ugly. Failure of system detection does not necessarily mean the person is an outsider; they might also possess some powerful relic to conceal their identity.
The sudden appearance of such a group in Maomu City definitely spelled trouble, which he couldn’t deny, but unfortunately, his system was clueless about the specifics.
"Something’s off?"
"Yeah, there are some people whose true situations I can’t see, and there are quite a few of them. I’ve randomly run into several just by walking down the street these past two days."
Heard Guo Huai’s words, Feng Yuan was somewhat surprised. He was very clear about the other’s situation; although that system didn’t have the capacity to survey all things, the concealment that resulted in its failure was not something average people could achieve.
It was like back in the Great Li Dynasty they had just returned from; there were almost no people capable of such a feat because it related to power, but more importantly, to the manipulation and interference with rules.
"Trouble is coming, but it’s nothing much."
Feng Yuan was certain that no matter if those people intended harm to the Divine Beasts, it was futile. Divine Beasts, in a sense governing the rules themselves, represent the very rules. Using parts of rules to fight against the rules? It was obvious that it was not possible.
"Is it troublesome?"
Qi Chen asked with concern. Drudgeon was brought in by Feng Yuan, and if something unexpected happened, Feng Yuan would be responsible. Shaking his head, Feng Yuan said,
"No, it’s probably just some idiots looking for trouble."
"You’re leaving just like that?"
Seeing Guo Huai turning to leave, Feng Yuan asked in surprise, as Guo Huai turned his head back and said,
"I just came to give you a heads-up. What would I stay for now that I’ve said my piece?"
"Tsk! Quite the act."
Pei Yu said disdainfully. He didn’t have much of an interaction with Guo Huai and simply thought this transfer student was a bit too arrogant. Zhong Liuyan chuckled saying,
"But they all think he’s so cool~"
"What about me?"
After looking at Feng Yuan, Zhong Liuyan pondered and said,
"Not sure, they don’t seem to talk much about you. Even from last night, they merely expressed gratitude for the opportunity you gave them."
Feng Yuan, feigning being deeply hurt, said,
"Why is that..."
"It’s probably because you don’t really interact with others on a regular basis."
Looking at Feng Yuan in disbelief, Qi Chen said, this guy truly didn’t bother with strangers, so it was normal for those people not to pay attention to him. No matter what, Guo Huai still talked to them now and then.
"Hmph!"
Feng Yuan walked away, hugging Pomiti with a somewhat annoyed expression, and Qi Chen, smiling helplessly, said,
"This guy really is..."
"Speaking of which, he really is quite close to him..."
Pei Yu said with some surprise, he himself didn’t care much for Guo Huai, but he didn’t expect Feng Yuan to become ’friends’ with Guo Huai? Qi Chen knew why, after all, Feng Yuan had dragged Guo Huai back to the past and told him about it, but after thinking it over, he didn’t explain.
"Take action against the Divine Beasts?"
Agunas flipped through the book in his hand with great interest and said, as Feng Yuan yawned,
"In any case, I don’t see the point. Let alone Drudgeon, someone who can’t even defeat Nagna but spends all day fantasizing."
"What if it’s related to the externals?"
Glancing at Agunas, Feng Yuan said irritably,
"Cut it out, who from the externals would dare to lay hands on a Divine Beast except by declaring war outright? Do they really think it won’t fight back?"
"If they have the strength to overpower it, why the need to skulk around?"
"Moreover, even if the Golden Book isn’t fully realized yet, it can still know everything within the world."
Agunas looked at the somewhat lazy Feng Yuan and said,
"Indeed... Speaking of which, what exactly happened on the outside?"
"Nothing much, just a bunch of fools trying to surpass their limits and courting death," Feng Yuan said, yawning. He didn’t have high hopes for those people, but that was the future decided by the infinite timespaces, and he didn’t want to interfere. Just guarding this region was enough to keep him busy.
"You understand them well?"
"Of course."
"Could it be that your strength..."
"No need to probe, my true strength is above theirs. Is this answer satisfactory?"
Staring at Feng Yuan for a long while, Agunas said,
"I was just..."
"Although I’d like to say it’s better to rely on oneself than others, you guys don’t have much of a choice, do you?"
Feng Yuan said distractedly, watching Little Green Snake constantly trying to master the power of space, while Agunas looked at the golden pages of the book in his hand and said,
"I wonder how long it will take for the Golden Book to be completed."
"You’re not expecting me to fix it all by myself, are you? After things stabilize with Odinis, you should be spreading out to different timespaces to demarcate," Feng Yuan immediately complained, his face flushing as Agunas flicked his tail and said,
"But Lorraine Tower said she wanted to rest for a bit..."
"Anyway, the situation with Great Li won’t end any time soon, and have you guys finished recovering that thing?"
"No, with incidents in both Odinis and the Starry Sky, all internal matters have been postponed," Agunas said helplessly. Looking at Little Green Snake, Feng Yuan said in a low voice,
"Do you think, should I grant it a miracle... "
"You’re hesitating? That’s not like you."
"That should be its own choice, but... the path it chooses is different from Xiao Ji’s, and once chosen, there’s no turning back."
Xiao Ji, lost in thought on his head, heard Feng Yuan mention its name and called out in confusion. Hearing no response from Feng Yuan, Xiao Ji thought it had heard wrong and didn’t give it much thought, continuing to ponder.
"Why don’t you ask it then?"
"Because I know its answer, but..."
"If it’s their own choice, what are you hesitating for?"
"Such seemingly meaningful choices... are very troubling..."
Gazing at the ceiling, Feng Yuan sighed helplessly, and Agunas, staring at him, flicked his tail and said,
"How do you know the other party will regret it?"
"I don’t..."
Watching Feng Yuan hurry away, Agunas looked at the Little Green Snake and then at Feng Yuan, seeming to realize something, floated over to Little Green Snake and whispered something to it.
At this moment, Xiao Ji also noticed Feng Yuan’s poor mood and, forgetting about pondering its evolved form, nestled into Feng Yuan’s arms, pushing aside Pomiti, and employed various adorable antics as if trying to cheer him up.
Stroking Xiao Ji’s head, Feng Yuan smiled and said,
"Sorry, I’ve worried you."
Sensing something amiss, the charming Xiao Ji’s expression changed and it leapt out of Feng Yuan’s arms. Looking at Xiao Ji engulfed by the black light on the ground, Feng Yuan sighed.
At this time, Little Green Snake came out with Agunas and happened to witness the scene. Agunas said with some surprise,
"Is this evolution?"
