Chapter 652: Chapter 653 Dream Vision_1
"Aren’t you going to look at those items?"
After following for a while, Feng Yuan asked with some boredom, and Hua Yiyou smiled and said,
"No need, most of those things are useless, and I believe they wouldn’t allow anything too valuable to slip into the black market, right?"
Feng Yuan glanced at the plainly dressed man who was constantly checking out the various stalls and said,
"You guessed right, but they can’t necessarily discern the value of every item, can they? At least to some extent, they have to abide by their own rules."
Hua Yiyou smiled faintly and replied,
"I don’t have confidence in my luck, or rather, I’m not willing to waste my luck in such a place."
"Luck? I didn’t expect you to believe in that stuff."
Feng Yuan looked at Hua Yiyou with some surprise, then swept his gaze towards Mo Li and said calmly,
"Believe it or not, what impact does it have?"
"Why didn’t you use your ability?"
Wandering over to Liu Wenli’s side and seeing that she hadn’t bought anything particularly valuable, Feng Yuan asked with some confusion, glancing at Liu Wenli who replied somewhat irritably,
"I’m sure you’re aware, peering into the future is very exhausting, let alone foreseeing the future of so many items."
"Can’t see through it?"
"Not every item can be evaluated at first glance."
Liu Wenli said calmly, able only to see into the future for a certain period. The farther away from the present, the less she could see, to the point where she might only have a feeling. This was why she previously thought Feng Yuan represented Ding Wu’s greatest chance of being saved. Even though she couldn’t see through Feng Yuan at all, she still had a feeling which told her that choosing to involve Feng Yuan presented the highest chance of success out of all the possibilities she had seen.
"Is that so?"
Feng Yuan pointed to a fossil that resembled a budding flower and asked,
"What do you think about this?"
Upon hearing Feng Yuan’s words, Liu Wenli thought it over and decided to give Feng Yuan face by using her ability to peek into the fossil’s future. After a while, she looked at Feng Yuan and shook her head,
"I can’t see through it, I don’t know what it actually is, perhaps it’s just an ordinary fossil?"
Feng Yuan smiled mysteriously, picked up the fossil still encrusted with a lot of rock, and paid for it directly. Liu Wenli looked at Feng Yuan with some astonishment and asked,
"What on earth is that?"
"A secret~ Can’t you see for yourself?"
Facing Feng Yuan’s mysterious smile, Liu Wenli said with annoyance,
"You know I can’t see through you, don’t you?"
"Then why were you so sure before?"
"You really hold a grudge. That was just speculating about probabilities, and as for the item in your hands, it has endless outcomes; how am I supposed to guess? Without a result, I can’t conjecture the probabilities."
Liu Wenli spread her hands and said, then stopped paying attention to Feng Yuan and pulled Amon to look at other stalls again. Although she didn’t necessarily want to buy anything, it was rare for her to come to a continent she had never been to before, and naturally, she wanted to bring back some souvenirs.
"Did you find something good?"
Seeing Feng Yuan humming a tune as he walked over, Guo Huai immediately noticed the fossil in Feng Yuan’s hands, but with the system information forbidden, he didn’t know what Feng Yuan had found. Looking at Guo Huai, Feng Yuan asked somewhat curiously,
"Haven’t you made a move yet?"
"I don’t know what’s valuable..."
Guo Huai said with a headache. Although he might have relied too much on the system’s information feature before, it was beyond most people’s ability to discern the true condition of those items with the naked eye. To complete the task, he had looked up a lot of data and pondered for a long time without making up his mind.
"Why don’t you ask Pu Pu?"
Feng Yuan looked curiously at Pu Pu, who was anxious on Guo Huai’s behalf. Hearing Feng Yuan mention it, Pu Pu, whose purple mist constantly shifted around, was startled. The mist seemed to solidify suddenly and then resumed its slow diffusion, changing shapes.
"Pu Pu isn’t a Spirit Beast with evaluation abilities like Embrace Pigs; what use would it be to ask it?"
Pu Pu also nodded in agreement, and Feng Yuan glanced at the stuff on the stall and said,
"Although it’s possible to overlook something, most things with special effects would show special characteristics in the Infinite Dreamscape, right?"
"Do you think the person in charge here would leave such a huge loophole?"
Guo Huai clearly didn’t believe Feng Yuan’s tall tales, and besides, Pu Pu currently didn’t have the ability to create an Infinite Dreamscape, and it obviously wouldn’t just appear here for Pu Pu to enter. Even if it could, unless he bought it, the vendor wouldn’t allow Pu Pu to just take something and disappear with it.
"Dream Vision, huh? Have you never taught that?"
"What’s that?"
Upon hearing Feng Yuan’s words, Guo Huai and Pu Pu looked at each other in confusion, and the system remained silent for a long time without providing an answer. Seeing that Guo Huai seemed truly unaware, Feng Yuan pointed to his own forehead and said,
"Well, it seems you really don’t know. Dream Vision is an ability unique to Spirit Beasts like Pu Pu that can enter the Dream Domain. It allows them to forcibly utilize a special kind of vision from the Dream Domain to observe everything around them, whether they’re in the Domain or not."
"What’s the point of that?"
Guo Huai asked, puzzled, and Feng Yuan glanced at him and said,
"Simply put, using Dream Vision in the real world would directly distort away all ordinary objects that you can see."
"You mean, putting oneself in a state similar to an illusion?"
Guo Huai looked at Feng Yuan like he was pulling his leg, then suddenly his face showed surprise as he said in a low voice,
"Distort away all ordinary objects I can see?! So if something’s not ordinary, doesn’t that mean..."
"The stronger the power, the lesser the distortion, and what’s more, I can share Dream Vision with you for use."
Feng Yuan spread his hands in resignation and said, after all, he had explained it this far. If Guo Huai still didn’t get it, Feng Yuan could only say it’s no longer his concern. If he really wanted to cheat for Guo Huai, he had plenty of ways to do so, he just couldn’t be bothered.
"How do you use Dream Vision?"
Without hesitation, Guo Huai directly asked Feng Yuan. As for asking the system? Better not, since the system was still confused, probably because it didn’t have any data on Dream Vision. But as he thought about this, Guo Huai looked at Feng Yuan with some doubt and said,
"What’s the original purpose of Dream Vision? It seems like such a meaningless ability wouldn’t just naturally occur, would it?"
"You could say it’s a natural occurrence, but it could also be considered a special move,"
Feng Yuan pondered and then explained,
"That technique actually is a special vision inherent to all Spirit Beasts that can enter the Dream Domain. It was just adopted by some people for counter-stealth purposes. As for why, well, among the Beastmasters with Spirit Beasts that can enter the Infinite Dreamscape, there will always be those who come up with whimsical ideas, right?"
"Counter-stealth?"
Guo Huai’s face flushed with a hint of embarrassment for not having thought of that himself. However, it wasn’t entirely his fault, as Pu Pu did not yet possess the ability to communicate such abilities clearly. If the Spirit Beasts didn’t mention this special vision, most people wouldn’t think of it on their own.
"Because it distorts all ordinary things, after all. If there’s nothing around but you see something with low distortion or even no distortion, wouldn’t you guess there’s something special blocking the view?"
"And it also allows one to judge strength based on the degree of distortion."
"Then why... isn’t it recorded?"
Feng Yuan smiled and said to Guo Huai, who looked confused,
"How many Spirit Beasts have this ability? Even if it was recorded, how many people would care? Even if someone accidentally discovered it, it would be known by only a handful of people. With the passage of time and the destruction of documents, isn’t it normal for such niche tricks to disappear from history?"
"This..."
Guo Huai couldn’t refute that fact. Although his system could access all of humanity’s recorded literature, most of it was from modern sources. The system couldn’t retrieve something lost to the sands of time—not when his system wasn’t some sort of ancient manuscript restoration system.
"Anyway, let’s not dwell on this. I’ll just teach you how to use Dream Vision. If you can’t complete the task even with this, then it’s out of my hands~"
Guo Huai looked at Feng Yuan calmly and said,
"I wasn’t planning on asking for your help anyway, but Dream Vision... it’s useful."
"At least until you find some way to counter stealth, it’s a decent skill, though it’s a pity you can’t keep it on all the time,"
Feng Yuan said as he instructed Pu Pu, and Guo Huai understood very well. With everything around being distorted, one wouldn’t be able to see the path, let alone take other actions.
