Chapter 645: 646 Chapter Negotiation_1

"I told you it was fine,"

Feng Yuan said proudly as they hurried back to Pearl Town on the petal jellyfish with their companions. Mo Li was somewhat worried about Mo Ling. On the way, Feng Yuan kept boasting, but when they reached the temporary campsite and didn’t see Mo Ling, Mo Li’s heart skipped a beat.

"Where’s Mo Ling? Where did she go?!"

Mo Li asked anxiously, grabbing a guard and querying with some confusion. The guard thought for a moment before saying,

"It seems she went to explore the town across with Miss Yao Yin."

"You! Didn’t you stop her?"

"We tried, but we couldn’t hold her back. Besides, they said they were going with the White Wolf Deity, so there should be no safety issues, so..."

The guard said somewhat guiltily, though he thought the same, he couldn’t be sure Mo Li would agree. Feng Yuan glanced at Mo Li and said,

"Alright, with Yao Yin and the White Wolf Deity with her, there won’t be any danger. Why don’t we all go take a look at that town together?"

After staring at Feng Yuan for a long time, Mo Li squeezed out a word,

"Fine."

"You’re back?"

Guo Huai poked his head out for a glance at Feng Yuan and saw the kittens treating him like a playground, climbing all over him. Feng Yuan laughed and said,

"Ah, you’re here too? I was about to invite you to come along with us. But seeing you like this, I guess you probably don’t need an invitation?"

"No way! I’m also very curious about what an Omeilia town looks like."

"Let’s bring them along, oh, and those little messenger birds too."

Something occurred to Feng Yuan, and he walked over to his room. Xiao Ji and the Illusory Sound Parrot were happily chatting away like brothers outside, and the Little Green Snake, somewhat exasperated, used its tail to steer Pomiti, who was about to tumble down the steps, in a different direction. Ever since the Little Green Snake started following them, Feng Yuan finally didn’t have to keep an eye on the silly Pomiti, who, although a headache for the snake, was also quite entertaining.

"What are you guys up to..."

Liu Wenli looked at Feng Yuan and Guo Huai somewhat speechlessly. One was followed by a flock of little messenger birds, and the other was covered in kittens, looking a bit odd. Feng Yuan saw Liu Wenli and smiled, saying,

"We’re planning to take a look around the town across from here. Are you going?"

"The Omeilia Region, a place of legend, I’m also curious about what differences they have from us."

Wei Fangwu said with a lazy smile from the side. He had heard the excited chatter and guessed that Feng Yuan and the others must have returned. He then headed to the temporary campsite with Wei Dingwu and Liu Wenli, who had similar thoughts.

"Let’s all go together,"

Feng Yuan said happily.

"What sort of trick are you pulling now..."

Guo Huai looked at Feng Yuan suspiciously, wondering if Feng Yuan and Yao Yin had switched places. Feng Yuan replied, annoyed,

"Of course, I’m taking you guys over there."

"Don’t you have a boat?"

"The city’s too small for it to dock; otherwise, I’d be too lazy to fly there on a sword,"

Looking at the giant Flying Sword in front of him, Guo Huai didn’t know what to say to Feng Yuan. Mo Li smiled and was the first to leap onto the Flying Sword. Due to the beginning of the first tentative trade negotiation, there were no spare petal jellyfish available in Pearl Town for them to ride.

After the last person boarded the sword, Feng Yuan laughed loudly as he steered the Flying Sword towards the nearby town.

"What’s that?"

Mo Ling looked up to see a giant Flying Sword approaching their direction and, feeling puzzled, tugged at Yao Yin beside her. After a glance, Yao Yin scoffed and said,

"A Flying Sword. Must be Feng Yuan. He’s the only one who can ride a sword like that."

"They’re coming here too?"

Mo Ling said, pleasantly surprised. Though the town here was entirely different from anywhere in the Divine Land Region, being in a strange place with a language barrier was challenging. If it hadn’t been for the Divine Beasts managing to intimidate the townspeople earlier, they would probably have gotten into trouble the moment they arrived.

"Seems like it."

"Xiao Ling!"

Before Feng Yuan could lower the Flying Sword to the ground, Mo Li jumped down and began scolding Xiao Ling and Yao Yin somewhat angrily. After the last person came down, Feng Yuan put away the Flying Sword, took out the Wolf God Giant Sword and thrust it into the ground, saying

"Let’s move together, you guys don’t speak their language anyway."

After a while, Xiao Ling and Yao Yin followed Mo Li with their heads drooping in dismay. Liu Wenli looked around with some confusion and asked,

"Where is this? Why aren’t there many people around?"

Feng Yuan glanced at the towering stone buildings surrounding them and recalled saying,

"We should be near the Lord’s Mansion. The guards in this area are strict, and ordinary people seldom come here; civilians are especially not allowed near."

"Aren’t they all just one class of people?"

Liu Wenli was somewhat puzzled, to which Feng Yuan replied with a smile,

"Not exactly, there are more classes here than you’d imagine, but let’s drop it. I’ll see where the path to the civilian area is."

"Not going to take a look around here?"

"What do you think will happen in the Divine Land Region if you wander aimlessly in front of those big clan gates?"

"Alright, forgot about that."

Liu Wenli glanced around at the clean, tidy stone square with its many plants and felt somewhat oppressed by the towering stone walls. Wei Fangwu asked with puzzlement,

"Don’t they feel uncomfortable living in a place like this?"

"They probably don’t, at least they consider safety to be the most important thing, right?"

"Safety?"

Wei Fangwu looked at the city walls around them. They seemed quite sturdy, but stopping Legendary Level Spirit Beasts with them was virtually impossible. Scratching his head as if he had suddenly remembered something, Wei Fangwu said,

"I forgot this is probably equivalent to a small town for us. Having such a level of defense is indeed impressive."

Seeing those solid walls and towering buildings made them momentarily forget that this was not some major city. Realizing this, everyone was somewhat amazed. Even in the Divine Land Region, not many big cities had such defenses.

"After all, ever since Ernis stirred things up, the war has never completely stopped. It’s normal for them to do this."

Feng Yuan said, glancing at the farmland enclosed by stone fences not far away. Despite the limited space within the walls, the lord had nonetheless set up a farm, the purpose of which went without saying.

Walking past the steps in front, everyone headed down towards the lower part of the city. In this era with few aerial threats, the Lord’s position was naturally the highest. Feng Yuan couldn’t understand why Yao Yin and the others would head towards the Lord’s Mansion; could it be that they wanted to pick a fight?

Truth be told, Feng Yuan initially didn’t know this was a city ruled by a lord—after all, it didn’t look very large. But during the negotiations, he came to understand because of Ernis, there weren’t many big nations in Omeilia. There were more small lords like the Stone Giant Territory. They might only have a few cities, but there was no escaping the fact that they were lords.

As a result, the trade negotiations with the group went smoothly. After all, the Maritime People couldn’t possibly occupy their land, could they? As for having control over the source of goods? Having seen the might of the Sea God who sheltered them, the small lords really didn’t want to test their luck. What mattered was getting the resources they needed.

Completely taking over was never an issue for these minor lords; they preferred cooperation. That way, if anything unexpected happened, they could extricate themselves. The Maritime People were also pleased with this arrangement. They preferred equal trade relations, as they disliked either side being too dominant. The former suggested a loss for them, while the latter implied unsustainability.

"Do you have any currency from this place?"

Noticing that Feng Yuan seemed to be heading towards the market they had seen before, Yao Yin asked with some puzzlement. She knew Feng Yuan couldn’t conjure up currency from thin air, and it appeared he had never been here before. Feng Yuan took out a somewhat worn copper coin and said,

"How could I not?"

"Where did you get it?"

Yao Yin curiously took a copper coin, its surface barely depicting a rough sketch of the city. Perhaps due to excessive use, the coin was severely worn with many notches at the edges. Stashing the coin back into his pocket, Feng Yuan whistled and said,

"I exchanged for it, of course."

"Exchanged?"

The group looked at Feng Yuan skeptically, except for Mo Li and the others who had been involved in the negotiations with Feng Yuan. They didn’t believe he would just exchange currency in a straightforward manner.

"Pfft! It’s not like I don’t have any merchandise. What’s so strange about exchanging some money on short notice?"

Feng Yuan said with a disapproving pout.
