Chapter 622: Chapter 623: Stop_1
"Is there a difference?"
Wei Fangwu was somewhat curious, Liu Wenli thought for a moment but didn’t quite understand and saw that Hua Yiyou also didn’t grasp what he meant, so Feng Yuan said helplessly,
"On land, as long as you occupy a region, what you gain is not just the land itself but also the resources within. But above the seas..."
"To be honest, except for those living on the islands, which of the Aquatic People and the Maritime People are not drifting around? There’s simply no specific territorial division."
"The same goes for resources. Those fish resources are all over the place, so the establishment of Nanyu City doesn’t really put much pressure on them, as long as they don’t go after the islands of the Maritime People. Otherwise, I suppose they might become mortal enemies."
Having heard Feng Yuan’s words, Wei Dingwu said with surprise and uncertainty,
"But..."
"There still are uninhabited islands, and with Kavieng around, he will surely find a way to help them settle down."
"Are you so sure?"
Liu Wenli was somewhat skeptical. It was one thing for fish resources, but island resources were something that the Maritime People and the Aquatic People definitely wouldn’t give up easily. Even if it was an uninhabited island, it might still provoke hostility from the others.
"Of course~"
"Do you know something?"
Agunas’ mirage glanced at Feng Yuan and swished its tail, feeling that Feng Yuan seemed to know something. Feng Yuan just smiled and did not explain. Seeing the massive form of Kui Shui Xuanwu, the Maritime People atop the Sea King Sea Serpent were somewhat angry, but unfortunately their attacks were useless against Kui Shui Xuanwu.
"Wait a moment."
Seeing Kui Shui Xuanwu blocked by a green crystalline Barrier, Feng Yuan told everyone and then jumped into the water to swim in front of Kui Shui Xuanwu. Wei Dingwu, puzzled, said,
"What’s he doing?"
"He must be communicating with the Protector Divine Lord... but will it really trust what he says?"
Wei Fangwu was worried. If there was a misunderstanding, it could be troublesome. Seeing the Protector Divine Lord unable to counter those Sea Serpents, he could guess that its power was likely inferior to that of the Divine Beasts. If a misunderstanding arose and Kui Shui Xuanwu took action, coupled with an attack from the Maritime People, Nanyu City would be in danger.
Hearing this, Wei Dingwu also grew worried. Liu Wenli, with her arms crossed in front of her chest, leaned on Amon and whispered,
"It should, he would have considered such a possibility."
Amon, licking honey with one hand while holding Liu Wenli with the other, seemed to be trying to give her some sense of security in this battlefield. The Spirit Beasts of Wei Dingwu and Wei Fangwu watched the surroundings cautiously. Although Kui Shui Xuanwu had already erected a Barrier, they did not dare to completely relax.
Fortunately, their worries did not come to pass. Before long, Kui Shui Xuanwu slowly moved forward again. Watching the green crystalline Barrier behind them, Wei Dingwu was somewhat nervous. Glancing at him, Wei Fangwu asked in a languid voice,
"Will you need my help later?"
"No, it’s not necessary. I know you don’t have a good relationship with them," Wei Dingwu said with a smile, politely refusing. She knew the relationship between Wei Fangwu and those people was more than just bad.
Stretching, Wei Fangwu said,
"Speaking of which, those guys should be thoroughly annihilated in this battle, right? In that case, I must go see for myself; even if it’s not for my own sake!"
As Wei Fangwu spoke, his lazy face took on a fierce look. Liu Wenli glanced at him and said,
"Be careful and keep yourself safe. It would be a pity to have survived that war only to fall here."
Wei Fangwu chuckled and didn’t argue. Feng Yuan climbed onto Kui Shui Xuanwu’s back, looking puzzled,
"Fall here? What are you talking about?"
"Nothing, just concerned about their safety," Liu Wenli said calmly.
Watching Kui Shui Xuanwu nearing the edge of Nanyu City, Wei Dingwu looked at the Telekinetic Brown Bear and asked,
"Ready?"
The Telekinetic Brown Bear nodded, Wei Fangwu bumped fists with the White Ape, tightened his grip on the long halberd, and with a sharp gleam in his eyes, stared at the jade-like edge of Nanyu City Island. Liu Wenli gently patted Amon and whispered,
"I’m counting on you."
"Aren’t you going to look?"
Seeing Feng Yuan listlessly watching the great battle between the Sea King Sea Serpent and the whirlpools outside, Guo Huai asked with confusion. Wei Dingwu, Wei Dingfang, and Liu Wenli had already entered the Nanyu City floating island; only Feng Yuan’s party remained. Glancing at Delong Tower emerging from the sea and signaling a warning to the Maritime People, Feng Yuan calmly said,
"There’s no need. Besides, what could I do over there? This is a civil war, a battle without right or wrong. As an outsider, I simply can’t meddle in such matters."
"Why not?!"
Feng Yuan didn’t explain but glanced at Mo Li. He knew Mo Li must understand the reason, nodded to him, and with a sigh, Mo Li said,
"Even on the battlefield where we appear as foes, one might later regret their involvement, unnecessarily so. We really shouldn’t have interfered in their battle..."
"Delong Tower is angry."
Noticing that the sky was gradually darkening, Feng Yuan spoke up, and Hua Yiyou said in resignation,
"Why must they be so stubborn?"
"Who knows, maybe it’s a matter of pride? Or possibly because Delong Tower opposed them twice, which irked them?"
"Opposed twice? That seems right..."
Guo Huai did not react at first, then suddenly recalled that outside Island Jellyfish, Delong Tower had indeed attacked the Maritime People once before. It was only natural for those people to harbor some grievances after being treated as such by a Divine Lord they worshipped, not once but twice.
As the fierce winds and torrential rain came again, the Sea Kings and Sea Serpents roared in reluctance as they turned to leave. Just as Hua Yiyou was beginning to worry that the Maritime People might become extremist, Delong Tower seemed to do something, and a vast expanse of the sea radiating out from Delong Tower began to emit a faint glow.
"This is..."
"The Sea of Life, an ultimate move that even Delong Tower cannot use lightly. By doing this, I believe those people won’t harbor such deep grudges anymore."
Feng Yuan glanced at the Sea Kings and Sea Serpents as they slowly departed. Their pace of leaving had slowed, and one could vaguely see the Maritime People atop the Sea Serpents with hands clasped together, seemingly praying to Delong Tower.
"They are leaving, I’ll go back and inform the mayor first."
Cheng Cheng said to everyone, preparing to hop onto the Petal Jellyfish. Hua Yiyou looked at him and asked,
"You sure you can find their location?"
Wearing a smile, Cheng Cheng confidently said,
"Of course, if one can’t even find their own home, how would they qualify to be a guardian?"
Watching Cheng Cheng quickly leave, Guo Huai looked over at Nanyu City and said,
"Should we rest on Kui Shui Xuanwu later, or...?"
"After Ding Wu and the others have sorted their issues, we’ll return to Island Jellyfish."
"Not bothering with Nanyu City?"
Feng Yuan pointed at a tiny spot in the distance, saying,
"Of course we are, it’s just that there’s no need to linger on Kui Shui Xuanwu’s back."
The illusion of Agunas flicked its tail and glanced at Feng Yuan, saying,
"Fickle guy."
"Hmph, it’s not like Kui Shui Xuanwu is suitable for long-term habitation anyway."
"You’re not suggesting moving onto Delong Tower’s back, are you?"
Guo Huai looked at Feng Yuan with puzzlement. If one could barely qualify Kui Shui Xuanwu’s shell as an island, Delong Tower’s surface was smooth and unaccommodating. The idea of lighting fires and cooking was out of the question, as it would be too disrespectful to Delong Tower.
Feng Yuan glanced at Guo Huai and said,
"Who said anything about moving onto Delong Tower’s back? Isn’t living in Pearl Town inside Island Jellyfish comfortable?"
"But..."
"They’ve already come, haven’t they?"
As the tiny dot grew larger, Feng Yuan curled his lip and spoke, leaving the others somewhat perplexed and unsure why they had followed.
"It’s probably because of Omeilia. After all, they’re not familiar with the lands and customs of Omeilia."
Feng Yuan understood why they had followed: it was to show goodwill, and for them, there was nowhere in particular they needed to go, so tagging along was no big deal.
"Speaking of which, is Omeilia really another continent?"
Mo Li asked Feng Yuan with some doubt. Nodding his head, Feng Yuan gestured with his hand, and a Sandboard Mirage appeared in front of them. Looking at the sandboard, Feng Yuan explained,
"This is the full picture of Divine Land & Omeilia."
"This is the Black Sea, or rather, the sea area we’re currently in. Over here is the border of Great Li."
As Feng Yuan spoke, red glowing lines circled these two places. Comparing them, especially the territory of Great Li, Hua Yiyou said with some confusion,
"The other side should be considered a complete continent, right?"
