Chapter 550: Chapter 551 Yuehu Town_1
"Otherwise, why don’t you carry it and follow the White Wolf Deity? Don’t forget its size; it’s heavy and cold, and I don’t want to carry it," Feng Yuan said with visible annoyance as he glanced at Guo Huai, who scratched his head before replying with a sunny smile,
"Can’t it walk on its own, like Zi Mo does?"
"Let a shell walk on its own? What are you thinking? Why don’t you demonstrate it for us?"
"That’s..."
Although in their recollections, everyone had seen the Frost Shell move by propelling itself with water jets, using that method here... Hua Yiyou looked at the cave, which had been reinforced by Feng Yuan, sighed, and realized it would be too noisy and might cause a collapse.
After leaving the collapse area, they continued along the passageway and soon light began to spill from ahead. Guo Huai checked the system: it was indeed nighttime.
"We’re not far from Yuehu Town; we can rest there."
"Haven’t they closed the gates?"
Feng Yuan looked at Wei Dongcheng with some confusion. Wei Dongcheng, patting the dust from his clothes, said with a smile,
"Yuehu Town doesn’t have walls, nor any sort of curfew measures."
"They’re quite bold, aren’t they? Aren’t they afraid of accidents?"
"Not at all, they are protected by a powerful Divine Lord. If their Divine Lord can’t protect them, walls would be meaningless."
"They’re very confident."
Feng Yuan was noncommittal. If the Spirit Beast was extraordinarily strong, such as the Tribe they had encountered before with the Everlasting Green Vine, then naturally, they wouldn’t need any walls. After all, even the most solid walls are like paper in front of a Legendary Spirit Beast. As for attackers below the Legendary Level?
Legendary Spirit Beasts aren’t a joking matter. At that level, they usually possess large-scale tactical skills, making it impossible to win by numbers alone.
Feng Yuan continued to pat his clothes, with a disgusted look on his face,
"How annoying. They couldn’t even bother to clean the Ancestral Cave a bit, leaving me smelling like dirt and fish."
Guo Huai rolled his eyes at Feng Yuan and said,
"It’s questionable if they even remember it, how could they clean it? Besides, isn’t that smell mostly from the Ritual Robe itself?"
Though the passage after the area of the collapse was difficult to navigate, it wasn’t to the extent Feng Yuan complained about. After turning the Ritual Robe back to white, Feng Yuan sniffed and said,
"Seems like the smell is gone?"
"You should be careful, or you’ll anger the Earth Guardian Qilin."
The shadowy figure of Agunas flicked its tail calmly and spoke, and Feng Yuan, scratching his head and snickering, said,
"If we don’t tell it, then it’s fine~"
"So beautiful~"
Passing by Yuehu, Mo Ling gazed briefly at the lake and found himself unable to move on. Feng Yuan glanced at the glittering starlight on the water’s surface and said,
"There is a lake near Yongning too, right? You guys even got an Everlasting Green Vine from there."
"Not the same! Look there."
"Yingying Insects?!"
Like in the underground cave, there was a large swarm of Yingying Insects fluttering above Yuehu, with the lakeside forest and the full moon above providing a perfect backdrop. The insects flew in formation over the lake’s surface, looking like ribbons of light flowing over the water.
"Didn’t you see them in the underground cave? What’s so astonishing about this?"
Hearing Feng Yuan, Yao Yin glared at him and said,
"This is different. The cave was weird, strange. Yuehu is the most beautiful."
"Whatever, it’s all the same. If we don’t go now, we’ll be late, and I don’t want to end up making my own food again," Feng Yuan retorted dismissively.
With a look of irritation, Yao Yin glanced at Feng Yuan and said,
"Insensitive."
"Say what you will, just hurry up and go~"
Feng Yuan said, noticing Xiao Ji staring blankly at Yuehu Town. He bent down and pushed Xiao Ji gently, urging,
"Let’s go~ don’t just stand there~"
Xiao Ji shot Feng Yuan a displeased look and reluctantly took one more glance at Yuehu Town before hurrying to catch up with Feng Yuan’s departing footsteps. A woman dressed in a moon-white traditional attire noticed Feng Yuan and the others leaving in a hurry, puzzled. Just then, a Yingying Insect, followed by a swarm of its companions, flew towards her.
The woman smiled slightly and lifted her right hand. The Yingying Insects circled slowly around her raised hand, reflecting off the waters of Yuehu Town in the moonlight and the insects’ glow, creating an enchanting scene.
"What an interesting place."
Looking at the lit-up town with lanterns, Feng Yuan was somewhat surprised. Unlike the last town he visited, this one had no walls and was composed entirely of wooden ancient structures. At the second and third-floor levels, wooden bridges spanned across the buildings, connecting them. If Feng Yuan hadn’t been certain he was in ancient times, he might have mistaken it for a modern-day tourist attraction.
"Are those wooden bridges... used to connect the shops?"
Guo Huai looked at the wooden bridges in amazement, marveling at each intricately carved building and pillar, adorned with exquisite patterns and delicate decorations in every direction, complex yet not cluttered.
Wei Dongcheng smiled and said,
"No, in Yuehu Town, only the shops on the ground floor facing the street are commercial. Those bridges were said to have been constructed for convenience between households to visit each other but now they are for travelers to enjoy the night view of Yuehu Town."
"They don’t live here?"
"It seems they’ve relocated to a new town nearby, and the old town is now solely used for commercial purposes. Although I don’t quite understand why they did this."
Feng Yuan picked up Xiao Ji and glanced back at the bridge lined with a row of lanterns, commenting,
"To attract merchants to develop commerce vigorously? They sure have confidence in their Divine Lord."
"Why do you say that?"
Guo Huai looked at Feng Yuan, puzzled, and at that moment, Hua Yiyou, stroking his chin, chimed in,
"If they don’t have enough strength, the more prosperous the business, the more dangerous it becomes. As the value increases, the stronger ones will be tempted to intervene."
"Exactly, I really wonder what their confidence is based on."
Feng Yuan sighed as he looked at the bustling town that rivaled Great Li City. Although King of Great Li’s city lacked those bridges, it was not to be outdone in architectural beauty. The difference was there, yet not vast. Compared with Great Li City, which even Legendary Level fighters coveted, this place might not have as strong an attraction, but it was still enticing to Rare Level beings.
Considering those greedy big families, they wouldn’t mind expanding their territories a bit more. Feng Yuan also found it strange how Yuehu Town had managed to survive until now.
"This inn seems nice~ though it might be a bit expensive, well..."
Noticing Feng Yuan’s glance, Mo Li forced a smile, about to say something when suddenly, a Greatsword slammed into the ground right in front of Feng Yuan. An imposing woman, dressed in a martial outfit, eyed Feng Yuan and his companions with hostility, demanding,
"What are you here for?!"
Feng Yuan pulled out the Greatsword, visibly annoyed, and tossed it back to the imposing woman. The sword’s tip landed steadily into the ground before her. He then provocatively met her gaze and said,
"What, looking for a fight? We are all travelers here, it’s none of your business what I’m doing here."
The imposing woman drew the Greatsword with its tip pointed at Feng Yuan and stated,
"State your purpose, or you’re not welcome in Yuehu Town!"
Feng Yuan looked at the woman angrily and pulled out his pitch-black Wolf God Greatsword, replying in a deep voice,
"Who do you think you are?! Who says you can decide whether we’re welcome or not?!"
The woman swung her Greatsword at Feng Yuan, who blocked the attack with his Black Wolf God Greatsword and said fiercely,
"Serious, huh?! Retreat, all of you!"
Mo Li and the others involuntarily stepped back, creating space. Drawing out a purple spear, Mo Li stood protectively in front of Mo Ling while Guo Huai watched speechlessly as the two exchanged blows. Although the imposing woman was not weak, she was unfortunately no match for Feng Yuan. Despite the appearance of a close fight, Mo Li, as well as the woman, knew that Feng Yuan was merely toying with her.
"It seems our opponent has some background."
Mo Li, chin in hand, looked troubled. He noticed that the bystanders who initially gathered out of curiosity, upon recognizing the woman clashing with Feng Yuan, quickly stopped watching and hurried
