Chapter 493: Chapter 494 Purpose_1
"So that’s how it is..."
"In other words, the help he can provide isn’t as great as I imagined."
After listening to Mo Li’s introduction of Feng Yuan, Hua Yiyou said in a low voice, to which Mo Li responded in a hushed tone,
"Regarding his identity, it’s best not to let it leak out."
Hua Yiyou gave a slight smile and shook the folding fan in his hand,
"I understand. If they find out, they might give up on Bei Ding and attack Yongning with all their might."
"He did this precisely because he was worried about that situation."
Folding the fan and tapping his chin, Hua Yiyou spoke with some doubt,
"But the name he’s chosen is too casual, isn’t it? Feng Yuan, Feng Yuan? One would have to be a fool to think they’re unrelated."
"After all, his original name isn’t three characters."
Mo Li said somewhat helplessly, then looked at Hua Yiyou and added,
"Can you not play with that folding fan? Isn’t it cold in the dead of winter?"
Taken aback, Hua Yiyou looked at the folding fan in his hands and said with surprise,
"But in those biographies, it seems that scholars like to use folding fans."
"As you wish. Do you want me to have someone forge an iron folding fan for you?"
Covering his forehead, Mo Li spoke with a sense of helplessness. Hua Yiyou could see through some matters even better than he could, but in other things, he was like Xiao Bai, naive and simple. Mo Li didn’t understand how such contradictions came to be.
The fan ribs of the folding fan in Hua Yiyou’s hand were made of an unknown yellow-brown wood that, although had pretty grains, seemed not very sturdy. The paper surface of the fan depicted a massive rock and a small mountain village, sights which Mo Li had never visited and did not recognize as the scene of Hua Yiyou’s village.
Waving his hand, Hua Yiyou declined,
"No need. For close combat, I’m more accustomed to using the Iron Ruler, and besides, the iron-ribbed folding fans you guys make might not be as good as this one."
Seeing Hua Yiyou’s enigmatic smile, Mo Li felt as though he might have overlooked something. After reflecting for a moment and with some surprise, he said,
"Your folding fan can cast magic?!"
"Yes, it’s a pity I can’t learn the method of making it. Otherwise, I could help you create a batch of magic weapons."
Hua Yiyou spoke with a tinge of regret. Even though it was impossible to equip everyone due to the need for Spirit Beasts to charge them, the enhancement to combat power from having an item that could store and release the power of a Spirit Beast after containing a portion of their strength was considerable.
Mo Li looked at Hua Yiyou with some astonishment and said,
"The person who helped you make this folding fan, could they..."
Sighing, Hua Yiyou holding the folded fan and slapped it against his palm,
"It’s not possible. It cannot leave our village, and I don’t want to disturb it just for my own affairs."
Hearing Hua Yiyou’s words, Mo Li did not press further. Hua Yiyou curiously looked at Mo Li and asked,
"Aren’t you curious about who it is?"
With a smile, Mo Li replied nonchalantly,
"Since it’s beyond reach, why pine for it?"
Laughing heartily, Hua Yiyou joyfully said,
"It seems I was right about you. When I get the chance, I’ll find a way to get you a magic weapon."
"Then I’ll thank you in advance."
As Mo Li spoke, he took out a map of the Great Li territory and spread it on the table,
"What’s your take on the current situation in the Bei Ding Domain?"
Upon hearing Mo Li’s question, Hua Yiyou’s expression turned serious and he said,
"Not optimistic. They’re too impulsive. Even if the enemy can’t hold out, the aftermath will be a problem—and those people won’t follow their orders."
"Not to mention we don’t even know if those guys still have their sanity."
"It’s a headache, indeed. I genuinely have no idea what they’re really trying to accomplish."
Mo Li rubbed his temples, clearly troubled, and Hua Yiyou had no good solutions either. After all, Mo Li’s side was at an absolute disadvantage. Even if Feng Yuan could get involved, it would merely provide an additional way out.
"However, if possible, I would suggest you send a team of experts to aid the Fifth Prince."
Mo Li looked at Hua Yiyou and said,
"Reason?"
Leaning against the wall, Hua Yiyou looked absently at the folding fan in his hand and replied,
"If you can hold their attention in the Bei Ding Domain, you could leave Yongning for a while."
"Do you realize that many powerful Divine Lords live on their own in places far removed from the mortal world? Relying solely on Zi Mo, we stand no chance."
After glancing at Mo Li, Hua Yiyou closed his eyes and, after a moment of silence, said,
"Why do you think those wandering travelers are so strong? It’s not like training necessarily has to happen in the wilderness."
Opening his eyes, Hua Yiyou stared at Mo Li and continued,
"Their cultivation involves training for freedom and the hope of finding powerful Divine Lords in the wild. That’s also why those travelers get stronger the older they become."
As he spoke, Hua Yiyou took out a thick thread-bound book and said,
"Before I left, our Divine Lord gave me this. It contains records of power rankings for some of the Divine Lords."
"Power rankings for the Divine Lords?"
Mo Li looked at Hua Yiyou with surprise and took the thread-bound book, flipping through it as Hua Yiyou explained.
"Our Divine Lords refer to themselves as Spirit Beasts. Different types of... Spirit Beasts have different attributes and potential levels. Unless they undergo a peculiar phenomenon known as evolution, Divine Lords’ strength basically cannot exceed their potential levels."
"Zi Mo is only Elite Level in strength?! Only one level below Lord Fire Ape? What about Grandfather Flame Dragon, is he Legendary or...?"
"The Guardian Flame Dragon is the Legendary Level Flame Red Dragon King, this was told to me by a Divine Lord," Hua Yiyou explained, and Mo Li closed his eyes, silently gripping the thread-bound book tightly. Hua Yiyou stepped aside and waited quietly for Mo Li to process the information.
"Are you saying he brought you information on strength classifications?"
In Feng Yuan’s room, Guo Huai exclaimed in surprise. It wasn’t until they returned to the room that Feng Yuan explained to the two why he had gone to greet Hua Yiyou. Nodding, Feng Yuan said with a smile,
"Of course, their village has a Dream Stone, which, as a special Spirit Beast capable of glimpsing the future, makes such knowledge quite plausible. As long as Mo Li accepts him, it would be very easy for him to suggest that they classify the strength of those Spirit Beasts."
"Besides, the information that the Dream Stone can provide is not particularly extensive. They will still have to do their own research on how to divide strength, as there are differences between the potential, strength, and displayed strength of many Spirit Beasts."
"Is it hard?"
Guo Huai asked, somewhat puzzled. It seemed to him that with the standards already set, classifying the strength of all Spirit Beasts should be straightforward. Feng Yuan glanced at Guo Huai and replied,
"How do you plan to determine the potential level of an unknown Spirit Beast? Don’t even mention observing the power of its special moves; Poison Mush’s poison series special moves automatically ascend one level in strength below the Legendary Level."
"Of course, it would be by sensing the energy flow within the opponent with spiritual power, isn’t that how it’s always done?"
Guo Huai said, still puzzled. Feng Yuan first picked up Xiao Ji from beside his feet, then thought better of it, putting Xiao Ji down and picked up Little Green Snake, saying,
"Come on, try sensing with your spiritual power and see if you can do it."
Xiao Ji glared at Feng Yuan, somewhat displeased, while Little Green Snake coiled up in Feng Yuan’s hands, eyeing Guo Huai curiously. After trying hard, an astonished Guo Huai said,
"Why doesn’t it work? It should be simple. Did you do something?"
"I think you’ve forgotten about your Iron Ruler. With its enhancement, you could easily break through the protective barriers of Spirit Beasts, apart from Divine Beasts. If it were so simple, why would the Alliance need to continuously update the Spirit Beast Manual and also provide the Spirit Beast Manual function on cell phones?"
"Isn’t that for conveniently accessing specific information?"
"Have you eaten the bold mark by the Spirit Beast’s strength level?! The primary purpose of that thing is to warn those who can’t remember the strength level of Spirit Beasts not to mess with beings they can’t handle."
"Is that so..."
Scratching his head, Guo Huai said somewhat embarrassedly. After all, he hadn’t been living in this world for long and hadn’t ventured much into the wilderness. With the system allowing him to check detailed information at any time, he had completely overlooked what would happen to ordinary people when they encountered unfamiliar Spirit Beasts.
