Chapter 379: Chapter 379: Invader_1
"It’s best not to use those things in your hands right now."
"Is that you?"
Feng Yuan saw the black-robed figure slowly approaching, shielding everyone behind him. Although the stranger’s voice was that of a sultry woman, perhaps due to the black robe being wrapped so tightly, the figure’s physique, at a glance, seemed almost indistinguishable from that of a man.
"It seems you recognize me? But we’ve apparently never met."
"You’re the one who triggered the Nightmare incident, aren’t you? What exactly do you want by coming here?"
"I won’t explain anything. Even if I say that I have no intention of being your enemy right now, you probably won’t believe me, will you?"
The black-robed woman gripped several cards, seemingly ready for combat. After staring at the other party for a moment, Feng Yuan shook his head and said,
"No, I believe you. I don’t want to concern myself with the Nightmare incident. Do you know who is behind creating this Infinite Ghost Realm?"
The black-robed woman, looking somewhat surprised, observed Feng Yuan for a while and, realizing he didn’t seem to be lying, chose her words carefully and replied,
"Those people are my enemies. They come from Nyarlathotep and are the claws that The Radiant Holy Court hides in the shadows. They excel at imitating others’ powers. The Infinite Ghost Realm is Morneith’s ultimate move. It was probably copied during his battle with Odinis and his allies."
"Copying someone else’s ultimate moves, huh..."
Feng Yuan thought for a moment and then said,
"You warned me not to use my powerful moves now—could it be because they aren’t here at the moment?"
"They are within the Infinite Ghost Realm, but after its activation, the user resides within a subspace layer of the Infinite Ghost Realm. Direct attacks are unlikely to reach them."
After sharing the information she knew with Feng Yuan, the black-robed woman said,
"That’s all I know. I must go now; this time, I must resolve them all!"
Watching the black-robed woman walk away, Feng Yuan sighed and said,
"Really..."
"Why do you believe what she says? If she really was the instigator of the recent Nightmare incident, then..."
Glancing at Qi Xiaoshuang, Feng Yuan said helplessly,
"She’s not weak; I might be able to hold her back, but instead of that, it’s better to let her deal with those invaders."
"Invaders? Has something big happened?"
Xiao Ji looked curiously at Feng Yuan and the others. Qi Xiaoshuang’s classmates were ordinary people, oblivious to recent events. Feng Yuan glanced at Qi Xiaoshuang and said,
"What do you think? Some things only add to one’s worries when known."
Qi Xiaoshuang hesitated for a long time. Although Xiao Ji and the others were curious, they also knew that if Qi Xiaoshuang hesitated, it meant that these matters were perhaps not suitable for them to know; otherwise, Qi Xiaoshuang would have kindly explained it to them.
"Just tell us. After getting involved, even if we don’t speak up, the police will reveal something, won’t they?"
"They should. Otherwise, it wouldn’t be possible to placate the victims’ families."
"The victims’ families?"
Glancing at Yang Hongzhi, Feng Yuan said with resignation,
"Yeah. The Nightmare incident didn’t result in deaths because she didn’t wish to do so. But those invaders are different. If they are not dealt with promptly, perhaps we will be the only living people left within the area covered by the Infinite Ghost Realm..."
"Then what are we waiting for! Let’s get moving!"
Holding back the anxious Qi Xiaoshuang, Feng Yuan handed her a gun and said,
"Use this. Don’t leave the Barrier’s range. Once you step outside, I can’t guarantee your safety."
Everyone took the gun that Feng Yuan had produced from nowhere, tested it in their hands, and asked,
"Can firearms really take on those invaders?"
"At least they’ll work against the Infinite Ghost Realm. I’ve sensed it—the area is filled with Ghost Power. Ammunition of the Death Series should firmly restrain them. Oh, Xiao Ji, could you please search for any survivors and protect them?"
Xiao Ji looked reluctantly at Feng Yuan. After patting Xiao Ji’s head, Feng Yuan smiled and said,
"Please, this is something only you can do."
Najia began to sing a moving song, and as everyone listened to the melody, they felt a great surge in their own strength. Amidst the singing, Xiao Ji transformed into a black bird soaring into the sky, reluctantly glancing back at Feng Yuan as it flew off in search of any possible survivors.
Feng Yuan aimed his gun at a creature in front that appeared to be a zombie and fired a shot, releasing a pitch-black energy projectile that hit its target. The creature wailed as it dissipated into a wisp of blue smoke, and Feng Yuan turned to the others and said,
"Just like that, clear out the zombies that are closing in."
"What’s the deal with that gun of yours? How does it have such an effect?"
Glancing at a puzzled Qi Chen, Feng Yuan smiled and said,
"I told you, this is the Ghost Domain. No matter what odd form the enemy takes, its essence is undoubtedly Ghost Power. Death Series powers can directly scatter those Ghost Powers, and that’s exactly why I asked Xiao Ji to go save others."
"This is also the first time Xiao Ji has acted alone without you, right?"
"Yeah, after all, it can’t just cling to me forever..."
Feng Yuan forced a smile and stepped aside, opening up space at the front. Qi Xiaoshuang, oblivious to Feng Yuan’s unusual demeanor, pulled her friend happily forward and fired at the approaching zombies. Meanwhile, Yang Hongzhi stayed alert to their rear while following the group’s lead, and Qi Chen continuously scanned their surroundings. Feng Yuan, shouldering a gun taller than himself, walked in the middle of the group, ready to shoot down any zombies the others might have missed as they neared.
"What is this..."
Seeing a spherical barrier enveloping the area ahead, the group was somewhat puzzled, but Feng Yuan spoke with a hint of realization,
"Let’s go see if they need any help."
"What exactly is going on?"
"Survivors, probably from Meow Restaurant."
As they approached the spherical barrier, a cheerful cry sounded. Xiao Ji descended gracefully next to Feng Yuan, and several tourists dressed humans slid down from its back. A server then emerged from the barrier, smiled at Xiao Ji, bowed slightly, and said,
"Thank you. Would you like to rest for a while?"
As the server spoke, he turned to the puzzled tourists and said,
"Come on over, at least for now, it’s relatively safe here."
Xiao Ji rubbed its head against Feng Yuan affectionately before reluctantly flying off to search for more survivors. The server meanwhile noticed Feng Yuan and the others, and seeing Xiao Ji’s gesture just before, gave Feng Yuan a friendly smile and said,
"Would you like to come in and rest for a while?"
"Let’s go in and see. No hurry,"
said Feng Yuan, leading the group inside the barrier following the server. Inside, Qi Chen and the others realized they were indeed in Meow Restaurant, where the previously lazy Cat-Type Spirit Beasts now sat on the ground, seemingly forming a formation with the same glow as the barrier emanating from them.
"I knew it."
Feng Yuan, looking at the cats, had an ’I thought as much’ expression. At that moment, a disheveled tourist inside the restaurant murmured,
"Why is this happening? I wish I hadn’t come on vacation. I knew Maomu City was unsafe recently, and still, I came here to travel..."
Hearing the complaints, Qi Chen and the others looked somewhat displeased, as they were themselves inhabitants of Maomu City; it was hard for them to hear others speak so negatively. Feng Yuan glanced at the phantom of Agunas and asked,
"How’s it going over there?"
"Still in fierce combat, the enemy seems to want to fight to the death."
"Impossible, they just want to keep you there,"
said Feng Yuan.
"What did you find?"
Agunas looked at Feng Yuan with a puzzled expression.
"Copy my power?"
Guard Wei looked at his opponent with a strange expression. Soon after, a man in a white uniform trying to copy Guard Wei’s power screamed in agony before collapsing to the ground, lifeless.
"To think he could copy it completely?"
Guard Wei gave a sinister smile, and the next moment, darkness began to engulf the surroundings. In the dark, there were continuous shrill screams. After a while, when the darkness lifted, all the white-uniformed invaders lay lifeless on the ground.
