Chapter 293: Chapter 293 Post-event_1
"Are you going to the special task force tomorrow, or are you coming to class?"
In the dormitory, Qi Chen asked Feng Yuan while fiddling with Xiao Ji’s silly feathers. Feng Yuan handed a biscuit to Xiao Ji and said somewhat distractedly,
"To the special task force, I guess. Tomorrow’s just self-study; it doesn’t matter whether I go or not."
"True, you could basically go to any academy you wanted, why bother attending class with us."
Qi Chen said with a self-deprecating smile. Feng Yuan could easily score full marks not only in Beastmaster-related courses but even in cultural classes. Qi Chen reckoned that if Feng Yuan wanted to, getting a nearly perfect score wouldn’t be an issue at all. Once, under his harassment, Feng Yuan had achieved full marks in all subjects, although his grades had since then stabilized to just enough to pass. However, everyone had no doubt that he had the capability to score full marks.
Noticing that Feng Yuan didn’t join the conversation, Qi Chen looked at him curiously and said,
"What’s wrong with you today? You seem off."
"Ah? It’s nothing..."
Seeing Feng Yuan looking preoccupied, Qi Chen scratched his head and said,
"Are you feeling homesick?"
In the time fog, Feng Yuan had continuously maintained the appearance of a child. Back then, Qi Chen had secretly asked Lorraine Tower, who responded that within the time fog, Feng Yuan could become anything he wanted, so becoming a child was just his own wish. Combining this with the fact that Feng Yuan was always alone, Qi Chen seemed to understand something.
"What if I am homesick? I’ve promised her that I wouldn’t get lost in this thing anymore."
Feng Yuan sighed and twirled the trinket in his hand, which was centered around a pitch-black crystal, surrounded by what seemed to be gold and silver metals forming the pattern of an eagle. Seeing that Feng Yuan didn’t want to talk about it, Qi Chen, curious, asked,
"What’s that thing in your hand?"
"This? The Nightmare Emblem, I got it from Anernia."
"Nightmare Emblem? Wait a minute! Stuff from Anernia! Isn’t that a Divine Beast?"
"Well, it was the one who troubled me, so I took this as compensation."
Looking at the Nightmare Emblem in Feng Yuan’s hand, Qi Chen reached out, took it to have a look, and said,
"What’s it for?"
"Hmm, it’s similar to Anernia’s entrance to dreams, can take people into the Dream Domain. Although it’s not much use to me."
"It’s useless for me to keep it, but I can’t give it away either. After all, it’s Anernia’s token. Without its permission, whoever takes it is in for trouble."
Glancing at Feng Yuan, Qi Chen said irritably,
"When did I ever say I wanted this thing? I was just curious to take a look."
Qi Chen put the Nightmare Emblem on the table and while tending to the leaves of the Amu Tree, he said,
"What exactly did you do to Gitalien in the time fog? How did it end up like that?"
"Nothing much, just made it experience one round of our more thrilling amusement facilities in a mortal form."
"Uh..."
Qi Chen understood that Feng Yuan referring to a mortal form certainly didn’t mean the present form, but rather that powerless body within the time fog, and those thrilling amusement facilities were well known to him. They were specifically designed for the stronger Beastmasters, and even the current Qi Chen didn’t dare to try it out, as his strength wasn’t completely up to standard yet. With this thought, Gitalien’s reaction seemed only too normal.
The next day, yawning, Feng Yuan headed to the special task force. On the bus, the passengers cast grateful glances at Feng Yuan, dressed in the special task force uniform, which left him somewhat puzzled.
Upon reaching the special task force unit, the team members with red eyes saw Xiao Ji on Feng Yuan’s head and greeted him warmly after a moment of surprise. Feng Yuan, feeling somewhat confused, walked into the office and saw Ye Hanlei looking through documents. He asked in bewilderment,
"What’s going on? Why does everyone know my name and greet me?"
Putting down the paperwork, Ye Hanlei said with a smile,
"Of course they know. After all, you..."
"Yo~ look who’s here~ did you know you’ve become famous?"
Liao Yu rushed in from outside, hugging Feng Yuan’s neck excitedly as he shouted. Breaking free from Liao Yu, Feng Yuan asked with confusion,
"What on earth happened?"
"You don’t know? Because you subdued Anernia, the infamous nightmare incidents didn’t worsen last night but began to ease off gradually."
"Is that all?"
"What do you mean, ’is that all’? Do you have any idea how significant the impact of this nightmare event was? Other countries have been sending their thanks!"
Glancing at Liao Yu, Feng Yuan said with annoyance,
"That guy was simply unlucky enough to cross me. Why pick a fight with me of all people? And aren’t we celebrating too early when the other main culprit behind the nightmare incidents hasn’t been caught yet?"
Upon hearing Feng Yuan’s words, Liao Yu spoke with a headache,
"It’s strange to say, after capturing Anernia, the nightmare incidents stopped abroad and in some border regions of Great Xia, but they’re still ongoing inside our borders. If it weren’t for Anernia’s assistance in stopping them, I bet we’d still be busy."
Curious, Feng Yuan took a glance at Liao Yu and said,
"Anernia has recovered already?"
With a speechless look, Liao Yu glanced at Feng Yuan and said,
"That pitiful state of Anernia was your doing, wasn’t it? What exactly did you do to it, to the point it shakes just hearing your name?"
"I didn’t do much, just divided Anernia into countless pieces and placed them inside Anernia dolls, then tossed them to the kids to play with."
Hearing Feng Yuan’s words, Liao Yu felt a bit strange, while Huo Feng’s back broke out into a cold sweat, for he had seen for himself the destructive power of those children. That Anernia hadn’t gone mad after being tormented by Feng Yuan was quite impressive.
"Right, why do they all seem to recognize me? I’ve never even interacted with them."
Looking at Xiao Ji sitting on Feng Yuan’s head, Liao Yu said with irritation,
"You’re the only one in the special task force who likes to have an Eggshell Chicken on top of their head, not to mention Agunas following you around. It would be strange if they didn’t recognize you."
"Yo~turns out it’s because of you~ I never thought you’d be more famous than me~"
Feng Yuan said with a smile, poking the Xiao Ji on his head, which proudly puffed up its little belly in delight. Ye Hanlei said calmly,
"No one else in the special task force keeps an Eggshell Chicken with them, so your Xiao Ji is one of a kind."
"Too bad, it seems your contribution this time should make up for your mistakes. Maybe it won’t be long before you don’t have to come here anymore."
Expressing some regret, Liao Yu said that although he had learned quite a bit from Feng Yuan, there seemed to be many things he hadn’t yet managed to learn from him, but the merit that Feng Yuan had established was indeed significant, to the point that almost everyone thought his punishment should be waived.
"Eh? Is it that nice~"
"Feng Yuan, Elder Li is looking for you."
At that moment, a female member of the special task force came in and notified Feng Yuan before leaving. Curiously glancing at Feng Yuan a moment longer, Feng Yuan scratched his head and said to the three,
"Then shall I go see Elder Li first?"
"Go ahead."
"You’re here? Take a seat, first tell me what happened yesterday, and he will help you compile it into a report."
After signaling for Feng Yuan to sit down, Elder Li glanced at the man sitting beside him. After the man nodded at Feng Yuan and sat up straight, holding a notebook as if waiting for something, Feng Yuan hugged Xiao Ji into his arms and started to explain the events of the previous night. Glancing at the reinvigorated Agunas, Elder Li said with an apologetic tone,
"You’ve been through a lot these past few days."
Agunas gave Elder Li a glance without speaking. After Feng Yuan finished recounting the events, he looked around curiously and asked,
"Anernia isn’t here, is it?"
"Wuu..."
A small black beast peeked its head out from under Elder Li’s desk. Upon seeing Feng Yuan, it bolted away in panic and scurried under the desk behind them. Feeling insecure, it managed to squeeze into the gap between the much smaller desk and the wall somehow. Only a black tail was left sticking out, twitching occasionally. Feng Yuan said with disbelief,
"Is that really necessary..."
