Chapter 1005: Chapter 106: Configuration

"Why beg for the mercy of humans?"

Veronia glanced at the Little Green Snake with puzzlement and said, not quite understanding the other’s thoughts. To Veronia, relying on humans seemed like foolish behavior. The Little Green Snake glanced at Veronia but paid her no attention, as it had never held Veronia in high regard and thus seldom interacted with her.

Seeing that the Little Green Snake paid her no mind, Veronia did not say much more. Agunas flicked its tail, commenting,

"If that’s the case, the dependency on humans seems rather significant."

If the Little Green Snake were just an Ordinary Spirit Beast, Agunas would not care, as it would be the creature’s own choice. But, the Little Green Snake was a new Divine Beast, and its evolutionary path, if not unexpectedly, might be one close to its own kind. Relying too much on humans seemed somewhat improper.

Divine Beasts, after all, should not be too involved with humans, especially one like the Little Green Snake with such a unique Attribute. Space Series Divine Beasts were not common, and getting too close to humans could lead to issues like those with Nierlat. Even now, Delong Tower still sometimes argued with it, though whether that guy was genuinely angry or just bored and looking for trouble was unclear.

Seemingly understanding Agunas’s concerns, Feng Yuan smiled and said,

"In fact, the impact is not that significant. The Little Green Snake’s kin are split too far and wide. By doing this, probably many humans would choose them as companions. As for the future, it’s not impossible for Little Green Snakes to develop the ability to formulate Potions, right?"

Agunas looked at Feng Yuan speechlessly and said,

"You make it sound so easy. They have no hands, how would they formulate Potions? Many ingredients are quite sensitive to spiritual power."

Feng Yuan smiled mysteriously but did not retort. In fact, as long as one avoided using potion ingredients sensitive to spiritual power, wouldn’t that solve the issue? But it seemed Agunas had not figured this out, and Feng Yuan decided to let him puzzle it out a bit longer.

Cen Chudie caught on quickly, though she did not understand everything as Feng Yuan did. She knew that only a few ingredients could not be manipulated by spiritual power. If one were willing to invest the time, substitute ingredients could always be found. At least based on current human research, there were no irreplaceable ingredients, only impacts on the potency of Potions.

"Is this another small space?"

Feng Yuan looked at the Little Green Snake with some surprise. When he saw the prepared Spiritual Medicine and Materials it had taken out, he realized something was off. This storage space was not the same as the one used for earlier items. Otherwise, he would have noticed such a large pile of Spiritual Medicine and Materials. Little Green Snake swayed its tail, seeming to think this was not worth fussing over.

"This doesn’t seem like a big issue. Gitalien only uses one space because it’s convenient, right?"

Agunas asked somewhat curiously, looking at Feng Yuan. Veronia, holding her pearl, disdainfully said,

"That’s because it cannot maintain another subsidiary space. Have you not noticed that most Spirit Beasts with storage spaces only have one?"

"It seems... indeed."

Looking at the book in his hand, Agunas paused for a moment and said. Its storage space was the same. Although it often pulled Golden Tome Pages and other items from the book, the actual corresponding space was not in the book. It had a subsidiary space where items could be stored, but it could choose where to open the entrance. Usually, it linked it to whichever book it was reading for convenience.

Yes, its book was different from Feng Yuan’s. That guy’s book was more like a display, while the books Agunas typically read were just ordinary books, not cases where one book contained all content.

"However, if this is the case, it’s best to move everything out of the space before evolution. After all, even though evolving towards a Space Series Attribute, it’s unknown whether a subsidiary space will still be available."

Feng Yuan reminded, recalling how Traveler Bear would lose its storage space after evolution. Not all evolutions would preserve their ability to store items. Of course, items in the space wouldn’t be lost; for example, when Traveler Bear evolved, items simply fell out of its storage space. At most, it was a bit troublesome to tidy up.

Wild Traveler Bears often stuff their travel bags with fruits and honey, not realizing they should remove these items before evolving. As a result, it’s common to see a Traveler Bear after evolution surrounded by a pile of food as if it were a game boss exploding with loot.

"I’ll take these away first, and if you still have things inside, you’d better take them out."

Feng Yuan reminded Little Green Snake, as he wasn’t sure if the snake’s storage space would be affected by the evolution. Though it seemed likely that having multiple spaces was a property of the authority itself, he couldn’t be certain.

Little Green Snake nodded and hissed, and Big Cat began removing excess Spiritual Medicine and Materials from the storage space. Cen Chudie glanced at Little Green Snake and then chased after Feng Yuan.

Seeing how casually those Spiritual Medicine and Materials were spread out on the grass, Cen Chudie frowned slightly and assessed Feng Yuan, saying,

"Is this really okay? If you do it like this..."

As he sorted through the potion ingredients, Feng Yuan replied,

"What’s the problem with that? Common Level evolution potions. Do you think there are strict requirements? As long as you don’t introduce any obvious impurities, what else matters?"

Cen Chudie didn’t quite understand Feng Yuan, because she didn’t know Little Green Snake was doing this to secure a stronger and better evolution path for its kind. After weighing the balance between power and difficulty, she realized the potion wasn’t actually that hard to concoct.

Feng Yuan had just finished sorting the ingredients when Little Green Snake approached with Big Cat. Qi Chen, seeing Feng Yuan hadn’t started making the potion, asked curiously,

"What’s up? Any problem?"

"No, I was just organizing things. It’s good you’re here. Let’s double-check what exactly the potion is supposed to do."

Feng Yuan looked to Agunas, who had no choice, as Little Green Snake couldn’t yet speak and couldn’t communicate directly with him. With a flick of its tail, Agunas relayed Little Green Snake’s requirements for the potion once more. Cen Chudie’s brows knitted tightly. The ingredients listed by Little Green Snake seemed to have many processing methods, but to fulfill its request, many techniques couldn’t be used. Moreover, it seemed unaware of how to create the potion.

So, how did it know this potion would allow for evolution into a different form than the usual evolutionary path? Little Green Snake’s kind shouldn’t have the ability to foresee the future.

Cen Chudie was deep in thought, her head aching, when Feng Yuan suggested,

"That should be fine. If that’s the case, some things could probably be adjusted. But you’re really being reckless, just forcefully mixing everything... You know a lot of things could go wrong..."

He had found it odd before: the possible outcome of the potions made from those ingredients seemed to have many strange elements, and now he understood. Little Green Snake must have swallowed everything directly and mixed it in its stomach. While doing so might not affect it significantly as a Divine Beast, it was still prone to problems, especially if handled by someone not well-versed in potion ingredients, which could cause the potion to have some bizarre effects.

Little Green Snake looked a bit sheepish, its head lowered. It had no choice; neither it nor Big Cat knew how to make potions, so they resorted to this strange method to attempt it. As for being certain of its success, it’s because after several attempts at mixing inside its stomach, it consistently triggered the same evolution, but as a Divine Beast, it used its special ability to forcibly stop the evolution process. It was fortunate it was a Divine Beast; otherwise, such actions would’ve likely led to serious issues.

Looking at Little Green Snake, Feng Yuan sighed. He swiftly concocted the potion, resulting in a light blue potion in the glass bottle, sparkling with dazzling starlight. Placing the potion before Little Green Snake, Feng Yuan said,

"Don’t be so reckless in the future. If you need help, you can ask me to try making the potion for you. Don’t always do it this way; it’s dangerous."

Little Green Snake stared at Feng Yuan for a long time before nodding. It scratched Little Ji’s neck as it walked over. Feng Yuan smiled and said,

"If this really works, I’ll help you organize the preparation steps and precautions. Whether to make it public, keep it secret, or choose another approach is up to you."
