Chapter 48: Chapter 48 Wanting to Please Him~
For An Zhiguo and his family, five million wasn’t much, but they just didn’t want An Ge to get it easily.
An Zhiguo put on a stern face, "What do you need so much money for?"
An Ge chuckled lightly,
"Last night I stayed in Young Master Huo’s master bedroom. Although I slept on his carpet, who knows, tonight I might just sleep in his bed. You wouldn’t want the eldest sister to marry in while there’s still something between me and Young Master Huo, right?
Of course, I intend to use this money to buy a house outside, where I can live with my child and my mom in the future, without bothering you. What do you say?"
It was a clear threat.
However, the An Zhiguo family didn’t dare do anything to her.
Bai Meilan, fearing her daughter’s dream of marrying into a wealthy family would be shattered, spoke up,
"Fine. But, we can only give you a ten percent deposit. As long as your sister hasn’t married into the Huo Family, don’t even think about getting the rest," she paused, emphasizing, "And don’t even dream of me donating bone marrow to your mother."
Ten percent, that’s five hundred thousand.
For An Ge, this result was already quite satisfactory.
With this money, she gained the upper hand.
Thinking of this, An Ge readily agreed, "Okay."
An Ge stayed with her mother until almost eleven o’clock when a call from Uncle Fu at the East Garden urged her to return.
Uncle Fu said, "Ms. An Ge, it’s almost time for lunch. If you don’t come back soon to prepare lunch for the young master, it will be too late."
An Ge nearly forgot about this. After finishing the call with Uncle Fu, she said to Housekeeper Su, who had driven her to the hospital,
"Housekeeper Su, can you please hire a reliable caregiver for my mom? I’ll cover the costs."
Housekeeper Su was a trusted aide to Mrs. Huo, and since An Ge was highly valued by Mrs. Huo, Housekeeper Su naturally didn’t dare to neglect her.
He replied, "I’ll take care of it."
When An Ge returned to the East Garden at the Huo Mansion, Uncle Fu had already prepared the ingredients, just waiting for An Ge to cook.
An Ge’s cooking skills weren’t exceptional, but she thought cooking a few simple dishes to get by with Huo Shaoyan seemed doable.
Although she was pressed for time, she managed to prepare four dishes and a soup.
By the time she rushed to the Huo Group’s building, it was already twelve-thirty.
While riding the elevator, she received a call from Qin Lang.
"Ms. An Ge, where are you?"
An Ge wiped the sweat from her brow and breathlessly replied, "I’m in the elevator."
On the other end, Qin Lang glanced at Huo Shaoyan, who sat in his office chair with a sullen expression, and, covering the mouthpiece, reminded her,
"Hurry up, the boss is in a bad mood."
An Ge forced a smile, "Thanks for the reminder, Assistant Qin. I’m almost there."
After the call with Qin Lang, An Ge silently thought to herself,
Is the tyrant just having a bad temper? He’s practically a manic-depressive lunatic, never in a good mood.
Despite her complaints, her brain was already racing for ways to flatter and please him to avoid an unnecessary disaster.
On the other end.
After Qin Lang hung up, he received a cold glare from Huo Shaoyan.
He braced himself and approached Huo Shaoyan, saying, "Ms. An Ge is in the elevator, she’ll be right here."
Huo Shaoyan picked up an ashtray from his desk and threw it at him, "You seem very concerned about her, huh?"
Qin Lang was on the verge of tears. He awkwardly said, "Boss, why would you say that?"
"Why? Last night when she was howling for food, you were the one who bought things to feed her, weren’t you? Don’t you think I knew?"
Qin Lang sighed, "Boss, you’ve misunderstood me. Why would I care about her? If it weren’t for the fact that her blood can save your life, I wouldn’t even give her a glance. Tomorrow is her blood draw day, and I’m just worried she might faint from hunger and be unable to give you blood. You wouldn’t want to be locked in the basement again when you relapse, would you?"
Huo Shaoyan had barely slept the night before, and now he felt terribly dizzy.
He rubbed his throbbing temples and warned Qin Lang,
"Don’t get any ideas about her. Be careful or you’ll be under her spell and won’t even know how you died."
Qin Lang looked down at his toes, thinking,
Isn’t it you who’s under her spell?
The group clearly has private chefs, yet he insisted on having a pregnant woman bring him a homemade meal. This is what truly bewitched looks like!
